Is Sasquatch a Yooper?

Kim Schneider - July 10, 2007 08:02AM

Bigfoot is everywhere these days. He/she is starring in two books on the newly published table at the book store I visited last night (with more coming soon)--and even apparently residing in Eastern Marquette County.

At least that's what a team of professional Bigfoot Researchers are speculating. They have strong enough evidence, at least, to prompt the first ever Bigfoot research delegation in Michigan. Starting this Thursday, through Sunday, some 25-45 professionals and lay people, who paid $300 a person for the privilege, will fan out in the woods in small groups of 3-5 people, connected by walkie-talkies, and watch, listen and test methods for attracting a sasquatch.

Such trips are so popular that Michigan's has sold out, with no waiting list. Anybody can read the Jan. 18 report that started all the fuss--a pair of giant footprints, tracks about 40 inches apart, near a pair of deer carcuses that apparently had been picked clean (by whomever made the giant prints?)

We think they might want to keep an open enough mind that they look not just for dark shaggy fur but also for red checked flannel and a giant ax.

Sasquatch also likes Ann Arbor

The Bigfoot Field Research Organization lists complaints by country, state and county. Washtenaw County has had five recorded sightings, to Marquette County's four.
