Hello all. I was curious to read if anybody has noticed increased levels of security around watersheds? Levels since 911 have of course increased rapidly, yet I'd like to hear of any new technology or patrol strategies one may have encountered. Also, (maybe I should have started with this question) what are your views on watersheds as potential habitat? How do you feel about trespassing? Surely you must admit that vast, enormous areas of wilderness, closed off for decades to the public spoil, does sound....well...wonderful! Thinking about the watershed inspectors that patrol; how ideal it would be to gather any data in regards to sightings or tracks they might have experienced? How many reports to we have, if any, of watershed inspectors describing occurances? Although I don't think they'd want to lose their jobs. Hmmm.....if only someone could talk to these people. Anybody got an uncle in the furniture business?

This reponse is not directed towards you personally, but since this is a public forum which can be read by everyone I hope everyone can understand my point of view on this subject. Watersheds are the lifeblood of many communities, and they are a potential target for those who wish to do us harm. I think it's unwise for anyone to answer these questions with specifics. If someone wants to know the answers for the purpose of ill will, let them research it themselves, and hopefully they will get caught during the process of performing surveillance to find out the answers. During WWII there was a saying, "Loose Lips Sink Ships" in today's world I think it's just as important to guard what is being said.

Any source of water with sufficient vegetation to hide around or near them can be a potential habitat.

I feel the same way about tresspassing as I do about anyone that breaks the law in an intentional manner. Not good and they won't get any sympathy from me. If you can't ask for permission, or if they won't give you permission to enter the grounds then that's it. You move on and find somewhere else to look.

I see nothing wrong with asking them the question directly.

Off the top of my head I don't remember any reports that specifically said the source was someone who was involved with watershed inspections. Most reports never give the name of the witness where it can be viewed by the public, so even if they were a government employee working in that capacity I would hope any investigator who reported the information would maintain that oath of privacy and not reveal their source. No sorry, I don't have an uncle in the furniture business but that reminds me of something funny I saw in the phone book a number of years ago. There's a small town in SE Wisconsin that has a business that advertised in the Yellow Pages as <Name Omitted by me> Funeral Parlor and Furniture Store. Yep it was actually a store that sold furniture and under the same roof also had a funeral parlor where visitations and in house services were held. After seeing the Ad I started having weird questions like, were some of the furniture pieces made from parts of the deceased? Did they make their own coffins? During visitations did they put the clients in caskets or in a Lay-Z-Boy Recliner and the family would come and sit around a Living Room Display to say their last goodbyes?

Thanks for the response moregon, I understand your point. I think what I'm trying to get from this thread is what, if any, relationship exists between watersheds and Bigfoot research today. Not advocating breaking the law, so please keep specifics to yourself as not to aid the terrorists! new_weirdsmiley.gif
