Well, to make a long story short, I recently purchased DeLorme Topo 6.0 and the GPS unit that they offer with it, the DeLorme/Earthmate PN-20. Installed Topo 6.0 without any apparent problems, but for whatever reason, it will not accept the USB hook up to my lap top no matter which one I try. Being computer clueless, I'm hoping someone here can walk my dumb butt through whatever I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in Advance

Did it come with some sort of driver for the pc ? Like a cd or something that came with it ?
If not when you plug it up does your pc pop up a window saying unknown device ?
You might go to the DeLorme site and look for customer service. There you should find some sort of Technical Support. There you should be able to find any drivers and stuff you might need as well as topics that will help you out.

I took a quick scan through the MANUAL which was avaible online at the DeLorme site, and did you do this step?

QUOTE
To Modify The Interface Settings
Use the following steps to change the serial port and USB settings on the device. The setting you choose will be based o the type of cable you are using to connect the device to your computer, your computer's operating system, and
if you are trying to access information on the removable media (SD) card.

1. Ensure the Device Setup Page is displaying.
2. Highlight the Interface option and press ENTER.
3. If you are connecting the device to your cmputer via serial cable, highlight ENABLE SERIAL PORT
and them press ENTER. A check mark in the Enable Serial Port check box indicates that the serial
port connection has been activated.

OR

If you are connecting the device to your computer via a USB cable, highlight the USB Setting drop down list and press ENTER. Then highlight DeLorme or Mass Storage and press ENTER.

If you didn't the USB port in the GPS may not be activated so the computer would see no USB device connected.

Thanks for the replies folks, finally got a chance to try and play with the darned thing this afternoon. Tried moregon's suggestions, and well, they didn't work. But a big thank you for throwing it out there.

Probably just going to have to bite the bullet and get a hold of DeLorme and see what the heck is going on. It'll probably be a couple of days before I can mess with it again, but if I can get things resolved will let you know.

Thanks again for the input.
