I'm playing around with some new software and use some of Mangani's data as a test subject. Right now I'm testing brining in some outside data sources to my app, next up will be working on some hyperlinks. I can't guarrantee you that it will remain up or that the current data (sightings, veg, elevation, imagery) will remain the same - but feel free to play with it while I work on it. To see the data list just click on the "Map Contents" drop down.

impressive!

Can you get details on each sighting or is it simply a geographical tool?

There is a url in the attributes of each point that links to the web based report for each. Other than that the only attributes for each is lat/long and date info. I'm hoping to have the hyperlinks to the report pages pop-up when you hover over them in the next day or two.

If you click on a point with the info (I) tool you should see it's attributes over in the results panel.

Has anyone tried sorting the sightings by time of year in order to determine seasonal trends? Might yield some interesting clues.

Did you wait long enough for it to load? I know I, initially, thought it wasn't working, but after waiting a good couple of minutes or more, it loaded.

Have you looked at Google's new "My Maps" feature of Google Maps? It's dead simple to add points on a map and save it for everyone in the world to see. It's only a matter of time before someone applies something like the BFRO database to it (assuming someone hasn't already).

Mangani has this database set up in KML format for anyone to download. It's easier to use if you have Google Earth. I am just testing some things out for another job and thought this data would be a fun sample set.

It should still be online, it just takes a while to load as it's drawing data from several different sources. I'm only hosting the report data.

Yeah, sorry about that but I had to shorten the url to test out a tool.

The working one is now at Map
