Here are a couple of interesting comments posted yesterday. This was part of a larger entry, praising the level-headed, productive approach of the members of the board when contrasted with all the other, evil BF forums. Originally the poster wrote this:
"we feared that this forum could quickly become a cesspool of propaganda and meaningless arguments as another forum on this subject has become."
I called him on that comment, and he changed it to this:
"we feared that this forum could quickly become an avenue of meaningless and unproductive arguments, and a vehicle of personal insult and self-gratification like so many other Internet forums."
(Not much better, is it?)
And then there was this:
"The people on this site are both knowledgeable and friendly, and work together well. The bickering that goes on on other sites is so counterproductive and why? Aren't we all here for the same reason: to find out the truth? Please keep up all the good work at BFRO, because I appreciate the time and effort that goes into running this site for no pay."
I must say, in all honesty, that the debating that goes on here seldom descends to the level I would describe as "bickering", and when it does, which is seldom, the thread is quickly closed by a mod.
I find this board to be much more active and interesting, but I do participate on both.

CF, I agree, of course. Still, go and take a look at it once in while. I did make a contact with someone who would like to go exploring Big Cypress in S. FL this June. If I can, I will join him for a day or two.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - even Matt Moneymaker.
All I'll say is that when he needed this forum to get his expedition business off the ground, he was first in line to ask for help from Bipto.
Of course, we didn't realise at the time that he was going to be profiting from his expeditions, or we wouldn't have helped - we have more integrity than that.

Ah - the problems of posting in 'lo-fi' on a PDA - I didn't see the smiley.

I'm sorry but as a newer member I can attest that members here seem a little too skeptical and jaded in some threads.
This is the internet. Every forum on the internet will harbor people who display that kind of skepticism towards eachother, even if they are all on the same topic.
I'm not defending these losers from the other forum for badmouthing BFF but I think it's silly to pretend people don't get on eachother here. I have seen many posts of somebody offering what scant evidence they have and simply asking for an opinion, by the end of the thread they have been thoroughly scoffed at and dismissed.
This is what I believe the other forum was going on about, and yes, it's true. Is it a big deal? Not really. Skepticism is important even for believers. It just seems that people piggy back and pick apart any 'evidence' that seems fishy to them. It's a bit much... but than again, this is the internet.

Hi MontanaDan,
I actually think the skepticism here is just about right. It does not pay to be too gullible in life, especially when you are discussing bigfoot, don't you think?
Most of what the other forum hates about this one is the criticism, or better yet,
hatred of their fearless leader by a rather vocal group on this forum. There are several threads here about him.

I haven't been around long enough to understand the feud between BFRO and other freelance BF enthusiasts online. I definitely realize that BFRO has an ethics system (which includes money unfortunately) that most of you don't agree with.
The only thing that really seemed sour here is when I would read somebodies thread about some vague experience or if they had a photograph (blobsquatch, possible footprint etc.) they would get completely burned down, which is really unfair. People come here to talk freely about their possible or legitimate experiences with Bigfoot because it's terribly hard to do that in real life. We don't need scoffing jerks in the BF community, there are plenty elsewhere.
Even harder to swallow is when somebody posts an amazing encounter or sighting that rings true in so many respects, only to have actual senior members on this forum question them as liars. This is incredibly rude if you ask me. If you believe somebody to be making a story up, just exit the thread. Alot of the most amazing experiences I have read on this forum sound completely true and were questioned dozens of times by critics on this board. To ask constructive or curious questions is one thing, to outright scoff at somebody for telling their story is another. I personally would ban somebody from my forum for behaving that way on such a sensitive topic.
besides that,
bigfootforums.com is a bigger boon to the independent sasquatch researcher than any site on the internet if you ask me. This is the place to be if you want to talk about Bigfoot with people online.
I'm just a noob but hopefully other people agree about the rudeness etc.

There is certainly nothing wrong with skepticiam. Hopefully it can be constructive. We are all in this together and those with more experience can help those with less. I find that if a thread goes off in a direction I don't like, the best thing for me to do is just leave it. That pertains to all forums.

Gotta agree with Montana Dan in a lot of his observations. Bravo!
By the way, Montana Dan, I see you identify the Flathead Valley as your neck of the woods. Are you acquainted with Dr. Jared Diamond? I've just finished his recent book "Collapse" and he had some pretty enlightening views on the management of the west's resources (Montana in particular), as well as many good things to say about your community. Relish your good fortune...thanx again.

Hey Dan,
The feud actually goes back to the mid 1800's when the Clanton and McLaury brothers clashed with the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday in Tombstone, Arizona. You see back then sasquatch expo's were big business to the Clanton's and..... Im joking of course!
To be honest, as best as I can tell, alot of the animosity goes back to Matt Moneymaker and his unwillingness to work together ( or should I say relinquish power) with some of the folks here who are Ex BFRO members. I don't have enough detail on the subject to really speak for anyone, but I can tell you about my dealings with Matt Moneymaker. In one word, the man is a Lunatic. I could go on and on about his irrational actions, fear of losing control, and overbearingly threatening persona... but I won't waste anyomore time on the man. Welcome to the board and I hope you enjoy it!
