Hi all,
I always scan the highway cams when possible, and today I saw this one:

this is from the Sherman Pass on SR-20 @ MP 320.
Anyone live close by who could check these out?
Thanks!

Can anybody give us any info on this particular area?

Could it be a maintanence worker on a bathroom break?

Could be anyone traveling along that section of highway that took a potty break, or who knows what. Those DOT cams are unattended and pretty much run 24/7. Seems that Washington and Oregon both have expansive and impressive cam systems along major highways.

Oregon DOT Cams

Above is the Oregon DOT Cams. Just click on the square in the part of the state you want to view, then click on one of the little black camera icons to view that cam.

Washington DOT Cams

For Washington just click on the little black camera icon to view that cam.

Vlandrum,

My husband and I will go tomorrow and check it out, it's about 100 miles from here (between Kettle Falls and Republic), he returns to Iraq from his R&R on Sunday morning so this will be an excellent opportunity for him and I to hit the field or take a nice drive, how ever this turns out. Picture isn't clear enough to determine what left the impressions in the snow, it's been snowing here all day and into this evening so far and 3" more expected, chances are the impressions will be filled. Weather conditions in NE WA that past week + have been below freezing and single digit daytime temps in some areas.

VAFooter: Not sure what you want to know about this area, it's low human population, wilderness, NE WA bordering British Columbia, Colville National Forest bordering Okanagon NF, fairly high elevation, north of the Colville Indian Reservation. Could definitely be a maintenace worker or anyone taking a bathroom break, hard to say right now due to not knowing the depth of the snow in that exact area of the pass, could also be elk, moose or any large animal track(s).......

Will let you guys know what is found if anything tomorrow evening.

Hi all,
wow thanks NWSquatcher!
I know we all look forward to hearing anything you can post here.
I wish I was close enough to go there myself, but I'm stuck here in KS. sad.gif
Thanks again!

NW, you pretty much covered what I was wanting to know... I do appreciate it.

By the way, a big THANK YOU for your husband and his sacrifice (and yours as well!). We will pray for his safety.

Thank you VAFooter.
Vlandrum, happy to help out, was close to me and worth the drive to take a look and get out, cabin fever setting in from this past week plus of cold temps.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, the trail cam at mp 320 is the Kettle Crest Trailhead (Snow Park). Cross Country Ski'rs everywhere. The pic of where the cam is looking is located right next to a well used trail with cross country ski tracks as well as snowshoe and you can see where kids have been sledding. Nice drive tho, snowed almost all the way there, dog had a great time playing in the snow, my husband did too

We did stop and look at an interesting (large) trackway, after a bit of digging it was definitely Moose. The snow depth at this spot was about 3.5 ft just past the roadway snow berm up an embankment.

What great photos!
And thanks so much for that mystery cleared up...now, I've also seen these tracks near Metaline Falls....JUST KIDDING! biggrin.gif
Seriously, I'm glad the trip was a safe one and that you could verify what those tracks were--one day on these cams we'll see Mr. BF crossing the road (to get to the other side, of course).
Thanks again!
