Hey Ravenight!
You need more sleep.
I lived in Woodland Park when the Green Mtn Falls sighting hit the news. It was in the late 80's.
No violence, no attack, no dogs.
This guy had built a new house and saw three (I think) BF running thru his property during the night. I think his name was Dan Macias (sp?). I don't believe that they made a return visit but possibly they did.
At that time, even people like myself who were willing to postulate the existance of BF, thought that if Sasquatch existed he was in the PNW.
Anyway, I lost a good opportunity for some research.
A report of the sighting used to be on the Cactus Ventures site, but I think they are doing some remodeling and the 1986-1990 reports aren't available right now.

p.s I would be very suspicious of reports of attacks, etc. I don't think there is a documented case of BF attack since Ape Canyon...and that report may be apocryphal.

I haven't heard that one. but about ten years ago, a local investigator told me about a guy down in Morgan-Monroe, who took some pot shots at a "prowler" in his chicken pen, and the next night it came back with some friends and remodelled his garage for him. One of them kicked in the door connecting the garage to the house and got as far as the bottom of the staircase, when the guy, in his bedroom, thought to crank his stereo up for all it was worth and scared them away. He moved out shortly afterward, and the people who bought the place, reported seeing the creatures from time to time, but they never offered any more problem, evidently knowing that it was a new family.

thanks for helping my brain get a kick start. i kinda blew some of my memory cell back in those days. evidentully that is where i had my firs sighting, it was in manitou spgs, at the base of mt. manitou; i was with two buddies of mine. one didnt even want me to come around any more since he thought my friend and i put on a cruel joke. but we all three were right next to each other when it happened. my other friend wont talk to me about it. his family moved away with that week. to me, it started an obssesion in findout how to communicate with it.
they are intelligent, i remember read ing a report about a very old canadain indian, i think his name was charlie, but he went hunting one day and seen something like a bear (black
) in a hoolow of a tree(big tree). his dog went after it and strted to chase it out of the tree and bam!!!! he shot it. when he ran up to it, he found out it wasnt a bear, but a young sas about 6-9yrs ithink. he kneeeled down and cuddled the woulded child in his arms and started to cry for the crime he did. just then moma came in to the scene and her first reaction was to kill the creature who just shot it's baby, but then seen him crying over what he did and she felt compassion for him and gently took her kid and went away.

i think that was the report, is im wrong help me out. blink.gif
but if they are next on the evolutionary ladder to sentient thinking, then we need to let them evolve. to all who read this, this is most important, if they are brought in or proven, then we all need to get our asses in gear to help get these guys protected, lobby the government and head for a green peace office. i would like to see one of the tree huggers faces when they think they are alone to hug a tree and something hugs them back. lol laugh.gif icon_really_happy_guy.gif icon_razz.gif

that is all for now, i need to get some rest and go to class icon_stressed.gif
be safe

Hi Sojourner,
Did you do any hiking off Rampart Range Road? Or in the Crags?I wish I had been more accepting of the possibility of BF in CO in those days. There are a couple of reports for El Paso & Teller Co's in the BFRO data base you might find interesting.
What did you think of the Grn. Mtn falls report? Were you more aware than I was?

I remember when that happened. I was living in Ft. Collins then and I remember seeing the story on the news. I remember it exactly the way you described except that I have no idea what the guys name was. *LOL* Didn't they find some tracks or something too?

I remember being pretty surprised as I had no idea BF were anywhere but the PNW. Shortly after that I heard a few stories that came out of the mountains west of Collins, but never paid 'em any attention whatsoever. Don't even remember what they were now.

jan and titus, this is wild, actually i did live in ft collins at the time too, csu, but i was still going home frequently...
i do remember about two weeks worth of chatter regarding the sightings in gmf at the time and while i didn't doubt the possibility or probability, i just didn't care as much at the time. i did do quite a bit of hiking and driving and wandering all around rampart range. recently, i have become very interested in the search and have voraciously studied all the available reports repeatedly and there are very many around the pike's peak area. yes, i have seen the reports in the crags area, and interestingly enough, that is just over that ridge above green mtn falls. i've never actually been in that area any closer than driving through on the peak rd, but i will definitely be spending some time in the area sometime soon to take a closer look...
incidentally, i spent some time last weekend in the lost creek wilderness area, southeast of kenosha pass, up by fairplay, as far back in as you can drive(past monkey creek!) just to get a little more familiar with the area. saw possible if not probable sign in aspen groves that were about 50 yards off the road in two places about 300 yards away from each other. in each spot, 4 or 5 trees, all 2-3 inches in diameter, were broken over or snapped clean off at heights ranging from 7-10 feet high, in a very visible location if that's what you're looking for...interesting for sure!, also drove up to georgia pass for an incredible view and strong winds and rain at dark, also a probable bf home in those high mtns from there over to leadville and aspen and crested butte, as remote as is still possible and in the vicinity of timberline seems to be preferred summertime range for many obvious reasons

this is cool i dont get to meet many from co. especially my home town rivals. i remember yyou guys used to turn our m upside down. any of you still iving there? whats it s like now days? my mom called me and said all the yuppies/bill gates wannabes move in to the state and everything when through the roof$$$$$. is it still that way. we're looking to move back there after my wife graduates U of O. im sick of oregon icon_lil_sick_guy.gif , no real mountains, not like in co. too much underbrush here and sticker bushes.
i wonder about the cave of the winds area? theres tons of caves that dont lead to the main one, but some are pretty deep. icon_blob.gif
i havnt hear from the richard mc, in a while. whos lives in wash. what is the mt st helens area like, never been there. icon_confused.gif
