I don't know Disco, I think you're walking a slippery slope when you start wondering about dark objects in the blurry areas of your photos. Groups of trees and brush are just like clouds, if you stare at them long enough you can see anything you want to see. Had you seen movement in the area where the darkness is?
A few weeks ago I came upon a set of boulders that covered the side of a little hill. There was a slab shaped boulder that rested on top of two other boulders that formed a shape that looked like a little cave, so inside this little cave like structure were dark shadows. When I first came upon it from about 30 yards, my mind for a split second thought that the shadows looked like the silhouette of a bear. Then after looking at it I realized it was just my mind playing tricks on me. Just saying sometimes if your mind is looking out for something whether consciously or subconsciously, it can make you see things.
I hear ya on that one! Not long ago I stopped dead in my tracks due to a huge tree stump. It never moved and when i got closer, thats all it turned out to be..lol
