My dad, 16 or more years ago ,used to work at a place in ohio called Babcokk and Wilcox.Today as he was driving me to school this morning he told me of an encounter a woman had back then.

Allegedly ,she was walking around the back of the building near a canal.There she said she spotted what looked to be a sasquatch wading through the water chest deep.After her claims ,the water depth was tested in the exact location where she said the creature was at.The water was over 6 feet deep.

My dad said that the sighting got an article in the local paper ,the beacon journal.I'm going to try and research and see if I can come up with the date and article, but this will be tricky as my dad worked there from 1983-1990, so there is a big range in there.I'm going to try though.

Call the local newspaper to see if they have archives, and if so, then how far do they go back? Next call the local libraries. They may have old files, perhaps on micro-fiche. Been there & done that! Going through micro-fiche is a verrry tedious process!!! And if you don't have any luck there, then call the local historical societies. Its amazing what little local resources you have if you only know where to look.

I would think that a little asking around would yield you some info from the locals........... unless of course this kind of report happens all the time.

I'd think someone would remember it? And possibly narrow the time frame for your search.......... also any chance that by proding your Dad's memory he might be able to come up with one or two years? Was it near the time he started working there, the middle, or near the end.......... sometimes you have to ask a lot of prompting questions to jog the old memory banks..........

I used the Beacon Journals archive facility & it had 5 matches if you search " Bigfoot " but nothing that far back..

Google grassman, that was the moniker given for the creature seen in and around Akron. I have also heard a story from Akron concerning an encounter in a tunnel that interconnected some of the tire manufacturing facilities, but that one is like fourth hand. You might also want to put grassman in the ABJ archives to see if it hits. Just did a quick search, it would seem that the folks took the web pages down and combined them into a book.
