One night I was walking with a friend around 2 AM down a gravel road that ran along next to a field. The field was connected to a park with a basketball court etc. This park is kind of in the middle of nowhere surrounded by woods. We decided to walk into the grass and sit next to a tree about 30 feet from the gravel road. As we were sitting, I noticed something moving on the other side of the field... maybe 300 yards away. The moon was pretty bright that night so I could see that it was a person slowly walking into the field. What first struck me as odd was that he/she was wearing some sort of reflective green shirt and was holding some sort of long pole. my friend and I were both trying to figure out what this guy was doing because the park was closed and there was a gate to keep people from coming in at the entrance. Anyway, he would walk for a little while and then crouch down, get back up and walk some more. At one point he/she started walking towards us for a little bit with this large pole in their hand and we kind of ducked behind this tree because we didn't want to get noticed, but they walked maybe 20 feet and turned back and basically it looked like they were walking aimlessly changing directions and crouching and getting back up randomly. we watched him for like 20 minutes just trying to figure out what the hell he was doing but couldn't figure it out, he would duck down for a minute and then walk a little bit with this pole and then duck down again... it just didnt make sense and we couldnt think of anything someone would need to do in that field at that time of night... and why they were wearing a green reflective shirt. It was strange and we got a little creeped out and decided to leave. I have been back there and there werent any holes or anything where the person was, and any sort of park maintanance would have a vehicle and would probably not be doing whatever they needed to do at that hour of the night.

I have a few here is one
first one I was 15 years old at the time my best friend was 13 we were hunting and I had a 3006 and my friend had a 3030. We walked up to this small pond and out of no where this guy appeared that looks like he should of been in the movie deliverance. We thought this guy was a little odd. He had what appeared to be blood on his pants so after some short talk the guy was admiring my friends 3030. At the time my friend wanted to get rid of the gun because a week earlier he had shot a deer and it had ran off. So the guy asked my friend if he would be interested in trading his 3030 for a remington 700bdl 243. My friend jumped at this opportunity so the guy said the gun was at his house. He lived about 2miles away so we agreed to follow him home. As we walked I walked along side the guy and my friend walked behind us just in case he tried anything. We got to his house made the trade by the time we were heading back it was dark we walked until this opening to take the trail back home. I looked to my left about 50 yds away there was a tall white mass about 10 or 11 feet tall and I asked my friend what do you think that is? He said its natural gas reflecting off the moon light. So I was like whatever and fired off a couple rounds in the air. As we continued to walk down the trail I say we had walked maybe one hundred yards I felt the hair stand on the back of my neck as I turned and looked back whatever this was was maybe 15 yards behind us now we took off running and didn;t look back needless to say I didn't sleep much that nite. My and my friend still talk about this to assure this really happened and that it wasn't a dream.
So when you say "mass" TXHUNTER, I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to describe? A mass like on two legs? Or, something else?? Just trying to picture what you are describing. . .Thanks, and thanks for the great story!

Was there a heavy dew or after a rain or heavy fog, bigfoot love nightcrawlers ........ yum yum! Can't help you with the green reflective shirt, have enough problems with the laser beam eyes remember?

Did you here any thumping sounds maybe he was using the pole as an infrasound transfer device with special decoder ring that could give off a kryptonite like glow, or maybe the hulk escaped from the local wrestling arena? Just some thinking out of the box.

MYM beat me to it. I was going to say that that sounds like a metal detectorist at work. You wouldn't have seen any holes, as the smart and good detectorists cut a plug from the turf, remove what's beneath it, and replace the plug and stamp it down. You'd likely not see a sign they were there, which is as they intend it to be. And he probably didn't have a torch, because people with torches attract attention, and if it was light enough to see by, your eyes do get accustomed to dim light in about 20 minutes.
/yes, metal detecting is another of my nerdy hobbies, in fact, I'm off to do some more tomorrow.

So why would he walk to this park through the woods and survey this field alone at 2:00AM with no flashlight instead of just doing it before the police closed the gate at about 10pm? Thats what gets to me, even if it was an actual worker, why would they need to do something there at such an odd hour.

Hi everyone
Im new to the forum, and Im really loving this thread
Here are a couple of my experiences.
A couple summers ago I had grown overly curious of an area near my home that had a large chain link gate warning against trespassing. I decided to go explore it, alone. As I started down the dirt road that laid behind the fence, I came upon a small wooden building on the left hand side of the road. I never saw in to it, but it looked very old and struck me as odd. As I continued on the road to my right was a very large barn. It was old and the wood was falling apart on the outside of it just enough for me to squeeze in. Once I got inside I saw lots of random old things like old soaps and cups. It was very musty and there was lots of rusted chain and things. I suppose it was just old farming equipment. Anyways I continued my journey down this dirt road and came to another small house. The only apparent way in was through and old open window, so naturally I climbed right on through. Upon entering I noticed many boxes, metal and cardboard. I opened one up and found MANY old film reels. There was an address on the box which I later google earthed and found nothing interesting. I got bored with this building and left. I kept walking and eventually passed what appeared to be an old WWI or II jeep. Just sitting there.
Heres where it gets weird, I ended up in a couple large cornfields and followed a trail in to the woods that I had noticed while walking. About 20 yards in to the woods was a very large old house. It looked pretty beatdown and the porch roof had collapsed. I decided to go in. I found nothing too interesting in the old living room except many beer bottles and an old destroyed piano. But when I walked in to what seemed to be an old bedroom, I found a fresh chicken leg.
Not like a delicious fried chicken leg, but the scaly leg and claw of the chicken. It wasnt old either, it couldnt have been more than a day or two old. Ive read about satanists and wiccans and somewhere I was sure (at the moment) that thats what it was. I dipped out of there pretty quick, and havent been back since.
Another time whilst squatching I found a VERY large and heavy glass jug. It reminded of an oversized chemistry piece, I tried to pick it up but it broke and damn near cut me open. Not so creepy but kind of odd considering I was far in to the woods.

Did you consider taking some of the reels to see what was on them? Also, some animal may have dragged the chicken leg to the room. So I would not worry too much about the satanists unless you saw other evidence of their presence.

I just wanna say this is one very interesting thread and I see why it's a long running one. It reminds me of a "post your most frightening image" thread or something to that effect that I came across months ago. Kicking myself for not saving the link. In the mid '80's, a friend and I were fishing on the Verdegris river in NE Okla in a very remote spot and were returning to our vehicle at dusk thru a large cane thicket that ran a couple hundred yards with limited vision around us. We heard what sounded like a good size old tree fall nearby and thought "What are the odds of hearing a dead tree fall?" A few mins later, we heard another. If there were any chain saws or chopping, we would certainly have heard it prior, but it was silent until the falls. I still wonder what caused them.
That is VERY strange Noxie. Flat out weird.

About 6 or 8 years ago now I was out scouting for deer stand locations. There's a spot where you can pull off the road and drive right up into the woods. From where we normally park theres a trail that continues on thru a swamp area. Now, I've been hunting this spot for about 20 years or so, and I recall this swampy area originally being not much more than a small pond on just one side of the trail. These days, there's a pretty narrow beaver dam that you have to walk over to continue on into the woods.
So, we go out scouting this one day, park and start up the trail. It's then we notice that someone spend a great deal of time and effort "paving" the top of the beaver damn with pallets and sheets of plywood to make it easier to walk over. About every 5 feet or so, someone had placed a tiki torch. We continued on over the dam, up the trail to the top of a hill where ther's a small clearing. In the clearing we find the remains of a campsite. Now I dont mean just some trash and a firepit, I mean a tent, sleeping bags, a cooler, food, a lantern, the whole works. The tent was shredded, as were the sleeping bags, everything we found looked to have been there for quite awhile.
All I can think is that a bunch of kids got together, fixed up the beaver dam, put up the tiki torches and setup the campsite, but got runoff by the cops. It must have looked pretty cool looking down from the top of the hill onto the "road" they had made, at night, lit for a good 50 yards by tiki torches.

I was thinking it was a martial arts enthusiast going overboard practicing with his bo staff. The reflective green shirt could have been a stage costume as the various martial arts tournaments are getting rather flashy especially in forms competitions. Could also be a freakazoid role playing some game or Lord of the Rings, etc as there are some geeky guys out there that really get into that (having known a few myself).

This didn't happen to me but happened to a very good friend of mine last deer season.
She was sitting in her deer stand on a large plot of leased land. Movement caught her eye and she saw hunter's orange coming down the hill toward her. She's getting ticked off thinking another hunter is trespassing on her lease. When the orange wearer gets closer, she sees that it is a doe and a young yearling that both are wearing not only orange collars, but are both wearing orange vests. She took pictures and I've asked her to forward them so I can share.

Someone must have put the orange on them to protect them! Way too funny!
But it makes me wonder...how did they get the vests on them? Maybe these were somewhat domesticated, and the person responsible didn't want them getting shot...

Wow, that's a huge leap to a totally unsupported conclusion, Ockham's razor, why introduce a third party who would go to the trouble of procuring the vests, bringing them into the woods and dressing deer in them, frankly that's quite a stretch, obviously they simply killed and robbed a hunter.

I think skin walkers are a Navajo belief. A skinwalker is a Navajo witch that can transform into many animals such as a wolf. The werewolf is a white man monster.
There may be other tribes with similar beliefs, but I had always heard of this in conjunction with the Navajo.
Choctaw
There are similar old legends in Mexico and Central America, among some native groups, about people (witches or warlocks) who transform themselves into weird and abnormally-large turkeys, donkeys, cats, monkeys and dogs, to do evil things to their neighbors. Transformation occurs due to black-magic rituals. There is several folk tales and legends involving these transformed witches and warlocks, which are feared, but the stories have normally graphic details and are somehow disturbing, that's why I won't describe them in detail here.

Here is a few odd and strange things I have found while hiking or squatching :
one year hunting with my father we were on a particular seldom traveled road that we have hunted many times in the past, I saw some fresh deer tracks on the side of the road heading into the forest so I got out to follow them and told my father to go ahead up the road and I would catch up with him later. Well I wasn't more than 15 feet off the road when I noticed a rectangular hole in the ground about 3 feet deep, but one could tell that it was much deeper and held loose dirt. In the middle was a small pink little girls sock and some pieces of black visquine sticking out of the dirt. Freaked, I ran up the road to get my father to show him and after a few minutes of contemplating we both came to the conclusion it indeed looked like a fairly fresh grave and we should start digging just in case to see if maybe their was a body and we could get authorities. As we dug these items came up in this order: first I pulled up some pieces of thick one inch rope of various lengths : next another sock: then a pair of little girls panties: then a discarded roll of duct tape: then a very small little blue backpack with a small white shirt and small stuffed teddy bear inside: and lastly a large frying pan. I was sweating the whole time the deeper I got. We dug and dug and never did find a body or remains but you can better believe with each item pulled out we were on edge nerve wise.
Another time we were tracking a deer we shot during hunting season, we were already about 3 miles from the nearest road when we took the shot at the edge of a very large swamp, we hiked at least another two miles to the center of the swamp where we found the buck, as we were spiting it in half to easier carry it out I saw off in the distance a bright blue piece of metal. We thought we might have found a downed airplane maybe so started for it in a rush. Turned out to be a brand new Hugo car still with dealer plates with all the windows broken out. Mind you there is no roads into this place, it was smack dab in the middle of a swamp laden with thicket. Very strange indeed.
Another time we were out squatching, me and my father who thinks I'm kinda nuts but follows cause he likes the outdoors and hiking, and came across an outhouse with a modern day throne inside and a full roll of potty paper on the wall, not that odd maybe till you realize that we were 14 miles into the national park, the nearest park trail being about 4 1/2 miles away and nothing else around, just a potty in the middle of the timber.
Ok now this one is funny, we were hiking the Grey Wolf Mountain range and were about 4100 ft in elevation shooting for a particular peak, this as well was not accessible by trail, and on top of this rock in the distance I spotted a box that seemed to be made of metal as the sun glared a bit off of it. On further inspection it turned out to be an old safe, appearing to be from probably the late 60's maybe earlier 70's. It was small enough to pick up but super heavy, about 2'x3' with a depth of about 2' to 21/2' feet. I picked it up and shook it and could tell it was full of something, but the thick walls and insulations denied the determination of it's contents. Well my father was excited (I was too) and demanded I try to break it open telling me we were gonna be rich. So I break out the rock pick and due to crappy lock made in those days the locking bar bent and the door flung open with little ease, sadly the only contents was a big a** rock and a single letter, to my recollection the letter went something to this effect: Dear Jerry - After all these years we treated you like a brother and the association employed you for 12 years, you were a funny man bringing a many smiles to members but this time the jokes on you, by the time you read this the sheriff will be on your trail, happy running - (signed) 138th Local VFW. We had our dreams shattered that day as well as a good laugh, but how that thing got way up there is mystery we will never know.
Ok and this last one is from my father - back in the early 80's him and my cousin and a family friend were hunting in the Mt. Saint Helens area of Washington when about a mile to two miles in the timber they came across a man buck nekkid with a bandanna tightly tied around his head covering his eyes, duct tape around his mouth and up against a tree with his feet tied to the tree and his arms wrapped behind him around the tree and hand-cuffed on the other side. They untied him and shot the cuffs apart with a security six revolver and according to the man he owed some drug thugs some money and when he could not pay up this is what they did to him. My father and company gave the poor man a ride to a hotel and purchased the room for the man and left him there. My father to this day still wonders what happened to that poor individual. I always laugh when I hear this story and have a hard time believing it but when the 3 of them are separated they tell the same story and with a seriousness that leaves me not questioning.
That's it I hope you enjoyed my finds ~

Filter, that is some weird stuff there... I think I would have called the authorities about the "grave". Not sure I could have investigated it myself.

Filtereyez, I would love to know how a car gets in a swamp with no roads close by. Can Bigfoot Drive? I wonder...

Now that made me laugh
And gave me a vision of bigfoot in a Hugo stomping the floor board out and hiking the car body up and running off the lot making a bee-line for the swamp in the middle of the wilderness

I think I would have been sick...

When I was a kid growing up on the ranch I had to find ways to entertain myself. One of my favorite things would be to saddle to my horse and ride the old logging roads in the forest that surrounded our property. I could ride all day and never see another living soul. One such day as I was riding down the main dirt road that lead to the cemetery (the same one that I have recently begun doing research in) I turned off onto a small trail that lead to an old deserted hunting shanty. I figured I would ride down and see what I could see. I was about 13 at the time, 3 years later I would have my first bigfoot encounter. I road for couple of miles and as I rounded a bend a saw a 72 Cadillac sitting in the middle of the path with a pair of bare feet sticking out the right rear side window. I didnt recognize the car and was a little nervous as I approached to get a closer look. As I drew close I also saw that the front passenger window was shattered, glass was all over the place. I stopped the horse next to the feet and gently kicked one with my stirruped boot. The foots owner sat up with a start and began yelling and cussing. That's when I noticed a pistol lying on back floorboard of the car next to this person. I knew the voice in a heartbeat. It and the foot belonged to my cousin Brad. He was much older than I, in his mid twenties. It was his girlfriends car, he had gotten too drunk the night before and was afraid to go home out of fear of his dad. I didnt blame him, uncle John was that hairest man I have ever known. He and Sasquatch could be close cousins.
Once he was awake Brad asked me how long I had been there and if I had come down there earlier. I told him no that I had just arrived and asked him why he wanted to know. He told me that during the night or wee hours of the morning (he was too drunk at the time to recall) while it was still dark that something had grabbed onto his feet firmly and attempted to drag him out of the car via the window. He had fired several rounds at whatever it was, taking out the window, shooting a hole in the passenger door and the roof as well. I asked him why he didnt just climb over the back seat and drive out of there if he was so afraid. His reply was that since he was so drunk he had convinced himself it was just a dream. I showed him the broken glass and the hole in the roof to prove to him that it wasnt.
I could right an epic on this guys adventures and/or misadventures. I'll post some of the stories in my log or in the humour section lol.

I certainly hope you reported the clothing cache to the local police, it has all the hallmarks of a child abduction and stashing of the clothing and backpack after the fact. Did you search local newspapers for any young girls going missing?

Actually it was reported, and If I recall the officer indicated at least locally there was not any disappearances but due to the fact that the findings were rather old they checked it out because they had one unsolved case from 11 yrs previous. As well it could of been an outside of county crime that ended there. They told us their findings lead them to believe it was just an old dumping of garbage that someone took care to bury, which is odd because it is pretty far from anyone. But their the professionals....

When I was a kid in the everglades, I was walking through the forest with my 2 friends who happened to be African American kids. We came across a clearing we'd never seen before, and between two trees that were at the opening to the clearing, there was a sign nailed between the trees. One of my friends read the sign and took off running. I didn't understand why, the older of the two didn't run but explained to me that we should go. The sign said 'Ku Klux Klan'. At the time, I was about 10 years old, and didn't know what the KKK was. I wish I'd taken a pic or stolen the sign in retrospect.
