Anyone check this out yet? Did a search and didn't find any references to Google News having been covered here yet.

If you go to the Google Home Page Click Here and click on NEWS in the center of the top of the page you'll go to Google's News Site. This section constantly checks and monitors over 4,500 news sites around the clock.

Now for the really cool part.. LOOK over in the left column, and you'll see a link that says...News Alerts, click on that.

On the page that comes up, type bigfoot in the box, then put in your email address where it says to. Then you can have it check AUTOMATICALLY as often as you want through it's entire 4,500 sources for any stories that use that word in it. I've created News Alerts for both Bigfoot and Sasquatch to be delivered to my mailbox once a day when news stories with those words in them come up. Saves a lot of time from surfing from Newspaper site to Newspaper site sifting through all the stories.

Excellent find!

When you went to 'verify' in your e-mail, did you get a blank page too?

I have been doing that for a while with the tag words bigfoot and sasquatch through my gmail service and it works very well. Tom Biscardi seems to be the big player in those articles

Cheers

Here's another Google trick. Go to the Advanced News Search page:
http://news.google.com/advanced_news_search

1. Where it says "with all of the words" enter "bigfoot" or "sasquatch".

2. Where it says "without the words" enter "paranormal" and any name or word you don't want in the results.

3. You can choose to sort the results by relevance or by date. Sorting by date will bring up the latest news.

Now do the search and bookmark the page. The URL that comes back will contain these search terms (and leave out those you don't want), and you can add the page to your bookmarks. That way you can have a bookmarks folder "bigfoot" and in it different searches like...
Search: bigfoot
Search: sasquatch
etc.
