ph34r.gif Hello all, I am in Germany know  nothing like being in washington state! I have noticed that the woods here are alot like washington state. so of course this makes me wonder if it's possible that our freinds are over here?? Did all of them follow each other and cross the Bering land bridge to North America?? I belive that most of them did, but what about the Yeti, or what is said to be in Russia? could there be somewhere else? Not sure, just a thought. cant wait to hear everyone's opinon. take care-
Paul1968UK
I have very little faith in there being any bigfoot-like creatures in Europe -= certainly not in Western Europe anyway.

There may be Almas in Eastern Europe, but the quality of the research leaves a lot to be desired - when the likes of Bayanov and Bourtsev beleive every word a lunatic like Janice Coy says, then I have a hard time believing anything they say about Almas.

To be honest, I'm still reeling from the Bourtsev paper that Bayanov read at the Willow Creek Symposium, where it talks of making foil caps to prevent interference from the Alma's brainwave patterns that were preventing the cameraman from operating his camera!
Teresa
Well said Paul! about Bourtsev and Byanov where "the farm" is concerned.

Hey,

I am from Germany. And let me tell you, don't waste your time looking for bigfoot.
Germany is just twice as big as Washington State, but has more than 80.0000.00 million
inhabitants. Where is there room for bigfoot?

No, apart from the vid from Luxembourg, I don't think there have ever been any sightings of Bigfoot-type creatures in W-Europe. There are, of course, several other cryptids, and almost every nation has one.

I'm feeling a bit left out, really... coming from the Netherlands, a country completely void of cryptids. Closest thing to it was when I read the papers the other day about a 2.3m long catfish dubbed 'Big Mama' in a local holiday resort...

That isn't strictly true - we had seemingly credible sightings here in ENgland a couple of years ago, complete with classic tree breaks, teepees, nests, tracks, and even dermal ridges

The trouble is that no such creature could possibly survive in a breeding population in that part of the country, which means that someone was hoaxing someone (or themselves, which is probably more likely)

And this is a real concern for me - if witnesses can be that convincing, when you know they are full of crap (and I spoke to two of them personally), then how many sightings in the USA and Canada are full of crap, and getting all the information they need to tell a convincing story straight from this and other websites?

 The difference is that many french women are mistaken for bigfoot when they raise their arms, but once they put their arms down it is cleared right up.
Paul1968UK
Do you have any idea how offensive that sort of comment is?

If a European member had made a similar sweeping remark about say, how fat American women are, they would be thrown off this board before they could check their PM's

Just because there are no French women on this this forum does not mean you can make offensive 'jokes' about them.

Hi Jacob,

I'm English ( not European  ) & i'm massively interested in the subject..

I have never searched, been in an area that has activity ( not that i know of anyway ) or ever had even an inkling of an encounter...

Last year i NEARLY went to Michigan for a few days to have a kind of mini expedition but circumstances didn't allow me...

I will one day though !!!

I met a guy in a pub in Clifden, Ireland many years ago, and he was a Derby Rams fan. That didn't mean anything to me, but some of the other fellows in the bar were teasing him about it.

BTW, I didn't find any Irish sasquatches on my trip.
Paul1968UK
As you can see - teasing others about their support of a football team is a popular pastime in Britain smile.gif - more popular even than complaining about the weather.

Derby County FC (The Rams) are the football/soccer team that used to play at a stadium called 'The Baseball Ground' - a 'leftover' from the professional baseball league that ran in Britain until the second world war.

Few people realise just how popular Baseball was in this country from the turn of the century up to WWII.
Duzza
lol that's true, i'm pretty sure about 90% of conversation between me and my friends is us mocking each other's team, or if we support the same team, moaning about what's wrong with our team and how we could personally do it better lol.

Paul, do you know why baseball became so unpopular after WWII? From the turn of the century to the end of the 2nd world war is a long time for it to have just been a trend, what made people stop caring about it?
DavSquatch
maybe baseball lost its popularity after WWII because its an American game and just about every D-Day show has this statement in it:

"the average Brit didnt like us (u.s. soldiers), because we were over paid, over sexed and over here"

My wife is French and her underarms are quite nice, that is an offensive comment.

What keeps us together as a group is interest in one area and it seems that, the moment other areas open up, someone has to make an offensive comment.

Being Canadian, I know that there is some resentment from our neighbours to the south, but I don't hear about it much here!

Thanks Paul

People simply had better things to do during the war I guess.

It certainly had nothing to do with the US Troops stationed here since Baseball had already died long before the US decided to join the war effort.

DavSquatch, I think US documentaries (and history in general) needs to remember that when the US troops landed on these shores, British people had already undergone incredible hardship - I recall reading about families who hadn't seen a simple think like a real egg for several years, so it is easy to imagine that there was a certain amount of resentment that Americans were turning up late in the day, with plenty of money and good food - from what I have read over the years, most simply didn't comprehend how 'arrogant' their perceived flashy behaviour must have appeared to some - we know better now that there is a cultural difference between Americans and British - I don't think that was appreciated by either side back then.

It has often been said that whilst the Americans arrived several years too late, they did at least do a very good job when they got here

"Overpaid, oversexed, and overhere" is the tagline I understand a lot of citizens of the UK would say regarding GIs in WWII.

I apologise, I get a lot of jokes about the whole Jewish thing and it mainly comes from arsenal chelsea or west ham fans, and I didn't get what you meant about the Ali G thing at first so I assumed it was some kind of Jewish joke since he is jewish, sorry! Me and some mates did get called a bunch of 'dirty yids' by some west ham taxi driver about a month ago though, it was stupid wearing our colours in that part of London though lol.

West Ham did well to get Tevez and the other fella, no idea how they pulled that off, and good luck in Italy.

Absolutely - it is a marveolous game - just not one that does anything for me.

And as for the dreaded 'Soccer' word, which by the way is an alteration of the abreviation 'Assoc.', as in 'Association Football', to distinguish it from Rugby Football and Gaelic Football, the Americans are not the only people who use it.

Travel accross Ireland, and depending on where you go, you will find plenty of people who use the term 'Soccer Football', since otherwise, they will assume you mean 'Gaelic Football', which is the number one sport in the country.

As a Canadian I can answer the question too...I've been down the West Coast several times, have family in Oregon. It is a wonderful state. Northern Cali is great too, though I don't much like the hot weather and pollution further south. Vacationed twice in Florida and found it to be too hot and humid for me, broke out in a rash, ha ha! All the creepy crawlies there don't exactly turn my crank either, and the hurricanes are frankly scary. I've never been further east than Quebec City and Toronto in Canada, so the whole Maritimes region would be really interesting for me--Maine, upstate New York, etc. I'd like to see the southern states, like Texas, Alabama, Louisiana...I think its a whole different place than here in the PNW. Then again its probably too hot for me. Been to Las Vegas and didn't really like it, but probably some of the cooler desert states would be nice at cool times of the year, like Nevada, or Utah. I probably would really like Idaho, probably quite similar to the interior of BC though, but a lot more cool volcanic stuff. I really liked Yellowstone Park when we were there. Would like to see it again. Also the Grand Canyon is great, too. Really could have spent a lot more time there.

But my favorite is... smile.gif Kaui. Yep, Hawaii. I'm a swimmer. Its got the geology, archaeology, the interesting botany, insects, marine stuff, dolphins, whales. Not too hot. The only problem is I can't afford to stay there for long. Boo. sad.gif And no bigfooting...mind you I can do that at home!

Philbro, what did you see in the Alps?
Robert
Just to answer the dude's question (geeze this group is so easily derailed) I would like to go to northern California and on up the PNW to the southern parts of British Columbia.

If I had unlimited time and resources (Waaa hahahah) I would spend as many years as I could up there, walking the trails, hanging with the natives, trying to get a glimpse, or a picture.

Vilnoori, see Philbro's brief explanation here.....

http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry556714

Philbro, where was your sighting in the french alps and what were the circumstances of you being up there on the glasier at night?
Can you provide the location on google maps?
what was your elevation? could it have been a person?
if you were up there, so others could be. i know glasiers are dangerous places even in the daytime, given their deep crevices and such like. ankle breakers at best, so if it was a lost hiker he/she could have met a slippery end.

Megatarsal
vilnoori
Thanks! Yes, I saw it after I wrote the post...and I thought it very interesting. I don't dismiss European sightings out of hand. For example, I was just reading about the reforestation of Poland...a large number of people are relocating to the cities since that's where the money is at, and farm land is reverting back to the wild at a much greater rate today than we might think. I don't know what Western Europe is like, but I know that's also happening in parts of North America too--though not in this area, since BC has such a small amount of arable land among the mountains it gets well utilized. Probably more so out East.
