Let's say you are out walking in a mountainous area. Your alone, unarmed, no cameras, late afternoon, and you hear talking, but in an unknown langage. The talking may be 300 to 500 feet behind and above you. Thinking those voices are just playing in your head you continue down toward your car. Again you hear those voices but this time, they are from the other side and a bit closer. Question. What do you do?

Stop, tie your shoe laces while glancing around casually to see if you can see anything. Act like you're looking around on the ground while glancing around and wait to see if it does it again. If it does... run a mental check list of all of the known animal sounds against what you're hearing. Hopefully you'd reach into your pocket and turn on a recorder

I don't live in a mountainous region, but I've heard that sound carries a really long way through mountainous areas. Could that account for the sounds you heard?

Being the gentleman that I am, I would INSIST that ARsquatch allow me to tie her shoes for her, since she's already there. While pretending to tie her shoe, I would actually be tieing her shoes together. When done, I'd jump up, point behind her and scream.. "MY GOD! HERE THEY COME!!!" Then take off running like hell. ARsquatch, now shook up and really believing they are coming, would attempt to follow me. Alas, she'd trip, and while lieing there on the ground screaming, the unknown creatures would be attracted to her, allowing me a clean get-away!
Now, being totally honest I think I would try to find someplace to secret myself, and try to at least get a glimpse of them, whatever they are. At that point in time it might just be some lost tourists from a different country whose language I'm unfamiliar with.

LMAO!!! I'm making mental notes. There will come a time when I'm at the same campfire as Moregon and I'm gonna fling my flaming marshmallows off the stick at him.

Take THAT! (fwiiip SPLAT) and THAT (fwiiip SPLAT) and here's another! While he's busy getting the marshmallows off I'll tie him to his chair and put pheremones in his pockets, then I'll hide in the bushes and wait.

That is a good one ARsquatch. But you have no recorder. And maybe you wondered about if the sound changed in the mountains. But the words(?) were clear but of unknown langauage. It was as if the first sounds was talking to the second. Again, what do you do?

Are you specifically out looking for bigfoot at the time, or is it something that supposedly happens while engaging in other activities?

Wel there's not really much you can do but try to spot whatever's making the sound. It could be just about anybody.

This is true. Let me give you more of the story. I saw a bigfoot child(?) i guess. After the second sound, words, whatever. I saw a head looking out at me, about 50 feet away. It was backlit so I could not see the eyes but it looked very much like a young bigfoot. Just sitting there looking at me as I passed. Oh yes, the sounds, words, whatever I did hear again. Just this story, great? Oh yes, I forgot the footstep, no casting material. The walk was for fun not looking for bigfoot. Oh well.

Well Chum, speaking hypothetically, given all the paramaters that you have, I would say off hand that you haven't got much. No photos, no recordings, no track casts, not much at all, just a nice little story. What would you do? I would think you would make a mental note to yourself next time take a camera, take a recorder and perhaps a small casting kit just in case, let's say, you ran into a BF and wanted to prove it. :icon_bang: :icon_bang: :icon_bang: :icon_bang: :icon_bang:

How about more info. What mountains? When? What time of day? Did you linger after you got to your car? Have you got a diagram or sketch of what you saw? Have you gone back to the area? Were any other cars around? What was the weather like? You know, more details.

1) Curse myself for walking alone and unarmed in a mountainous area, even though I know better.
2) Continue walking to the vehicle.
3) Retrieve the rifle from the vehicle (oh, yes, it really is there).
4) Sit quietly on the hood listening, until it's too dark to shoot.
5) Drive home, stopping at the liquor store for a box of beer.

An experience i had deer hunting may apply here. I was hunting in the Mark Twain National Forest in southern Mo. I too heard a muted conversation in an unknown language from what i thought was at the top of a ridge. I eased around till the wind was in my favor and headed toward the sounds. Upon reaching the top of the ridge, i could hear the voices quite clearly. They were from another camp at least a quarter mile away. Sounds in the woods or (mountains) can be misleading and if conditions are right, travel astonishing distances. Case in point, after listening to those guys for a few minutes. I let out a scream, it was dead silent for a minute are two. Then i heard one of them say " I NEED A BIGGER GUN". City folks, ya gotta love em.....

After reading my post again, i think i may be coming off as to much of a skeptic for you all. I'm sorry, but so far i am and will continue to be until there's undeniable proof. Again i'm sorry, that's just my nature. Since this thread was started as a what if, here's mine. What if, you were Turkey hunting, and left camp at dusk to try to roost some birds. What if, you stopped your ATV in a spot you have roosted birds before, turned the engine off and waited for the woods to calm down a bit. What if, a rock 3/4 the size of a basketball landed six feet in front of you. What if, being pissed, you chased something up a dry wash and out through the woods on said ATV, only to be out run and remaining unseen for well over a mile. What if, you came to a Web site looking for information and answers, only to find long time members joking around, ignoring and razzing new members before they even knew their story. I guess you do get tired of the BS, but give us a chance before you hang us. Being said skeptic i don't think i'll be hanging around here, i hope you all find what your looking for. If that day ever happens i'll be the first one crawling back for all the " I TOLD YOU SO's". Be safe out there.....

Hi Dingus!
If you haven't contacted Radmohunter yet, you have made him wait for quite some time. If you were to contact him, you might well find out his experiences might well be similar if not match your own and there won't be any "joking around", "ignoring", "razzing of new members." Don't get upset at not getting the right reaction to what you've got to say when you ignore the most "obvious" place to get the answers you are looking for. If he was able to contact you, he would have done so already. Until you've given this forum a "chance" long enough and you've got enough posts logged - you are unable to use the PM and email features available on this forum. Likewise, anyone who is a member here will not be able to PM or email you. You haven't been here long enough to even know what's going on around here.

Dingus, please understand where some of us come from. If you type Hoax or Hoaxer into the BFF search engine, and print off the download, you will have about 800 pages and the need for a new printer cartidge. Too many of us have been burned before. And all too often had a good story go bad on us. I am working on a "story" (rather than the report I wanted to give originally) to be presented here from a friend. And I wonder if it will be accepted. Or be picked apart. Because it could have been a major sighting, but due to circumstances, it fell apart.
Also please realize that nearly all of us work or have otherwise "a life". And most can only comment on a report. I realize it is hard not to take a presumed lack of interest as something personal. After all it was something that happened directly to you. But we are a discussion forum. With all the good and bad that comes with being that. It is unfortunate that, all too often, the only full-time investigators out in the field are self-promoters like Tom Biscardi. A $200 million BFF lottery winner could be a big help in having people out there to run down reports like yours. But until then, we have to struggle with what we can do. And do realize that some additional postings will open up the e-mail and PM fuctions to a newer member. And that will allow you better contact with people. So do stick with us. You may find it worth your while.

can you imagine getting hit by a rock 3/4 the size of a basketball??? you wouldnt be here typing in this forum! Makes me think they might be good aimers...wait maybe they are poor aimers? seems like the rocks always hit so close! I do remember a rock hitting the roof or hood of the car a lady was driving in...
