okay i just got back from our 3 day campout in the ouachita national forrest about 4 miles across billy creek into the woods. we got there friday and it was raining like no other. we slept at billy creek through the night (the tent leaked) and hiked to the top of our camp mountain the next day. it was saturday with no rain, the ground was soft and we couldn't find any footprints. we did find one pile of stacked rocks that did look suspicious. things were overall pretty calm up there this weekend, very quiet, no animals making sounds at all. overall though a fun camping trip, no sightings or significant vocalizations. the only strange things we heard were at about midnight, down the mountain about a mile down we heard a pack of dogs barking wildly. normally, no big deal but these were barking very aggressively and kept at it for 2 hours. during all the barking we heard 2 simultanious sounds that sounded like whoops. probably just a dog. also, shortly after that i heard 2 sounds a little ways down our mountain (80 yards or so) that can onle be explained as deep grunts. i never felt like i was being watched or anything. i love doing bf research in oklahoma. if i remember correctly, i remember reading some kind of story on here about a guy who had a cabin on some land in oklahoma near the kiamichis and experienced some intense bigfoot activity, like being chased or something. i would like to contact this person and see about possibly camping on his land for some research. right now i am extremely sore from all the hiking and am about to go to bed. the ouachita natl forrest sure is a mysterious, eerie place. oh yeah, billy creek was RAGING it was tough to cross. i posted a few scenic pics for you. bigfoot is out there somewhere!

luke black,

You're doing great Luke, don't make assumptions and you will be alright on the board. Thanks for the pics, too bad you didn't have anything happen while out there, but if something happens every time you go out, then it would be questionable. Out of about 25 times, I might be lucky to hear a questionable vocalization one time if I'm lucky while in the field. Keep up the work and wish you the best in your future research.

thanks guys, yeah if something happened every time, i would rule it out as my mind playing tricks. i love the area, it is so mysterious. next time we go, i would like to venture into a very desolate, super remote location there. if anyone has any suggestions, i would love them. this last time i went, i took my gps, so i have exact gps locations of the places i heard things the last time.
darkwinglh
A GPS is really great to have, I take mine and GPS all tracks, markers and sightings onto my topo map so I can get an overall view of where things are happening at, and if anyone wants to check out a location, I just have to pull up the GPS coordinates and away they go.
OKFlight Medic
The Southern part of Okla is full of Coon Hunters and it may be that you heard the dogs running the coon. Usually the barks are disticntive "Coon Hound" barks but this is only my 'guess" as to one possible reason for the barking dogs.

Thanks for the cool pics. Thats such a beautiful area of our state.

Luke,

Whereabouts is the Billy Creek campground? I'm a fellow okie and it sounds that would be an interesting place to visit. I've searched my maps from the area and haven't been able to locate it.

It's on hwy 63 1 mile east of Muse, Oklahoma and three miles north.
