Hey all. Recently in the past few months I went to an area of the Greenbelt Reserve just outside of Denton. There is a road leading off of US 380 that goes into the country (southbound) that ends in a culdasac. Before you reach that there is a gate with a trail leading into the woods. This area i have played Paintball many of times in the past before my BF research era. Its remote and thick..though it does have a small newer neighborhood on the south side of the woods where it all ends.
Now that the location is out of the way...heres what happened. At one time i noticed a small area tree branches by the road leading into the woods that were "stripped or all twisted up". None of the other branches along the road were..just them. Eh..no biggie. However one day I decided to use the same technique i used to get my first Whoop call a while back. Using a thick stick i knocked in repeat patterns on the nearest big tree next to the gate. I let the sound echo out into the woods. Within a few short minutes I began to get knocks back..sounding like about 80 yards out. Here's what really weirded me out. Shortly after that, SOMETHING, was coming through the thick underbrush. It sounded larger than anything like a dog or that size of animal. Personally it sounded like something like the size of a cow..but pacing back and fourth through the bushes. At one point whatever was making all that noise was so close at the road i literally thought it was gonna show itself at any moment. I started to back up more toward my car on the road. But whatever it was never showed itself.
Within this forrest area area few narrow paths for offroad vehicles that maze through the area. All this weird stuff was cut short by a kid on a dirtbike speeding though a ways out with another kid on his bike following him. I somewhat relaxed after that. But then i head something I have read about before: After the kids came through..there was a LOUD high pitched woman's scream several hundered yards out into the forrest. It started out harsh and went high-pitched..like a shriek.
Has anyone else from the area near Denton been out there and have anything similar happen? This area has really peaked my interest being that its practically the 'perfect' habitat for them.

Would you care to reveal the STATE or PROVINCE in which "Denton" is located? It might help elicit a response.

When I hear "Greenbelt", I think of Greenbelt, Maryland, but I gather this isn't the Greenbelt in your story.

Denton, Texas probably.

Yes, Denton TX...sorry for the mishap. But ya..if anyone from the north TX area would be interested in checking that area out. Let me know.

I also wondered what denton you were talking about. No big deal... Don't worry about it...

I'm originally from Texas and when I visit I keep an eye out for the Big One. I hope to see him sooner than later.

I think I would be one of those that gives chase. What type would you be?
Discojelly
"gives chase" ..i am familiar with that phrase but not sure of its meaning. If you're talking about not sure of believing in the big guy or not, thats understandable. I got MY answer last Fall. Your chances for sightings are pretty high if you check out alot of remote areas north of Dallas near the Texoma region.

Check it out with a couple of friends may be on to something.I'd keep good thorough records of all findings from that property.Good luck and don't forget your camera.

disco, I was just curious. In your directions you say that you went south of University(380) on the Greenbelt, but by my directions the Greenbelt is North of 380. From where the greenbelt is if you cross 380 and go south you don't have much land before you hit the lake. Did you mean that you went North of 380 into the Greenbelt Park Corridor? Just curious because I'd like to know the area of which you speak. I'm familiar with the area somewhat being that I'm a North Texas grad and spent quite a bit of time all around Denton,TEXAS getting into all kinds of trouble.

Please clarify for me. I would enjoy scouting the area and I would be happy to discuss your experiences with you. Just PM me.

Just an interesting side note: The Greenbelt Park Corridor starts from 380 just east of Denton,TEXAS and heads north. Its suppose to end up at Elm Fork Park south of Lake Ray Roberts. I havent' been to the Greenbelt in sometime but I do remember hearing on the news that this corridor is eventually suppose to lead that far North. Now Lake Ray Roberts is in Cooke county and here is a report from that area :

just thought this was interesting.

disco: Just a couple of questions, and I don't mean to sound skeptical - just curious:

When you realized a bunch of kids had been in the woods, didn't you think they might have been doing the "answering knocks" back to you?

And what was your reaction to the piercing scream - did you high tail it out of there?
Discojelly
The kids might have been the source of the knock. However, there was something the size of a cow moving through the dense bush pacing back of fourth during which the knocking was taking place. Also I heard the kids on their dirtbike coming from farther out from the woods to the area closer to the road where i was (and knocking too).

The high pitched scream made me confirm that it was possibly a bigfoot. It somewhat caught me off guard..really wasnt expect to hear that. Gave me the creeps. Did i run? No...but i could tell by the sound of it must have been irratated by the kids coming through with a noisey dirtback. lol After i heard that scream, i figured it was time go...Whatever it was no longer wanted to be around.

Hope that helps..i am going back to this area soon. On a note: This area in which i speak is lowland forrests intertwined into marshy areas of the northern Lake Lewisville...I've always thought this area would somewhat be prime habitat.

I wouldn't say prime habitat due to the area in question is situated in an area with 40,000 plus population within a 5mile radius and it being developed to the tune of about 500 homes a month.

Edited to add what you heard probally was a cow crashing through the brush and bellowing trying to find it's way out. There are several small cattle ranches in the area as well.
