I'd hate to start a thread on something if there is already one ( :new_grrr: ) so I thought I'd ask. Real curious to hear what other people may have said about it.

If there is one, could someone be so kind as to link it? I cant seem to find it, probably my own fault.

If there isnt one, does anyone care to comment on it? :new_whistle:

this is a very detaild report with a piss poor note from the investigator. very impressive on the details. i would love to have an encouter like this one.

Wow. Great story!

Someday, someone has to have a fairly decent camera and the courage to use it. OR take a kill shot.

Until then, I loved the story, but sadly, that's what it is. A story.

The crouching and freezing behavior has been noted in other sightings, hasn't it?

Chris and Claudia2,

What would you do if you had an encounter like this one?? Would you shoot at it or would you just watch???

I know what I would do....... :popcorn2:

if i had enough gun i would bag a biggin. but this puts a kernel of excitement of what would mama do if you shot little boy. although a 5 foot Bigfoot isn't a little boy. also would you worry about shooting mama?

if i had a camera i would have excellent pictures.

Assuming that was a real report, and I would say it is............

I would NOT have shot either the mother or the little one. If they were howling loudly, and the mom was moving fast I think that meant that she was afraid for the baby's safety. The wood knocking the first hunter heard later was probably the mom telling the dad that she had the kid.

Had the hunter quickly shot the little one he would have had the mom on him in seconds and she would have probably found him, and he would have died a screaming death. Had he waited and shot them both, then got down to get his buddy to help move them, the dad and who knows how many others would have then got him and his buddy.

In my personal opinion, when they have "babies" (anything 5 ft and under?) they most probably travel in groups. Maybe a big group of females, if not males and females. If I ever saw a baby I would slowly but quickly walk away (snapping pictures as I went hopefully).

I would also rather observe one alive and walking around for a least a little bit before I killed it. That would be awesome!

If I can add my 3 cents worth...as much as I would like to see tangible evidence of BF come to light, if I was in the same position as the guy in this encounter, or any other similar situation, the only way I'd shoot is if I felt imminently threatened. I would be afraid of retaliation. I remember reading in one of the outdoor sporting magazines about a guy who was hunting, he walked around a large tree, and about 50 feet away was a sow bear and her cub. She charged, he shot her three times, hitting her in the mouth, shoulder and chest. She subsequently broke his shoulder, collarbones, ribs, tore his scalp off, etc., then left. His hunting party heard the shots, eventually came to his aid, and the local game wardens / authorities found the dead bear elsewhere the following day. All three slugs entered the bear solidly. THAT's what I'd be worried about, even if I felt forced to shoot a BF...

Thanks for the replies. :new_thumbsupsmileyanim:

When I read this sighting I was real glad that it was reported. I do believe that it is a true sighting and was reported with a good deal of truth and actual detail. Cant say it was what actually happened or that it is true for a certainty but it does hit home with me.

The events described in this encounter are what I would expect from a BF. This is what I perceive a BF to be and the behavior that I would expect from them.

I read so many different opinions about BF and what people expect from them. Usually it is all bad. They are monsters and scary and threatening. They are out to kill and maim and maybe even eat us.

This is not the impression that I get from them. The link that I provided totally gives my view of what a BF is. This is what I have learned from my research and personal experiences with them.

I really wish that others could understand as I do. These creatures are something quite different than most expect. It may be easy to say, well, "I'll shoot one if it comes into my cross-hairs" or "I'd rather shoot one than take a picture, it's the only thing that science will accept."

I wish that everyone could experience an encounter like the one we're talking about. I know that cant happen but if anything, I hope that people can think about this type of encounter and wonder if it could be true.

My OPINION and advice would be: If you want to know and understand BF then you should read this sighting and take it from there. Start with the behavior that you see and go with that state of mind. BFs are a lot different than what we expect. Be glad for that. It is a much more astounding discovery!

For what it's worth. :icon_bang:

First of all I don't think I would be into killing the big guy. But I don't know how many of you have been face to face with a big game animal. I was 5 feet away from a bull, cow and calf moose one time. I was in camo, there was another moose behind me 50 yards or so, and I guess they thought I was him.

Anyway, It's better they leave than having to shoot 1, or MAYBE 2 of them. Can you imagine a wounded BF after you.

That would suck.
