Northwest Afternoon
tugboatwa
I see their story about Bigfoot will air on Tuesday. I hope it is archived.
Dogfoot
Interesting. Would it not be more efficient to cruise the BFRO reports?? There must be copyright issues involved. Wonder how many they decide to actually use?? Do they have a website that would archive these reports??

KOMO TV's website seems to be updated now. http://www.komonews.com/nwa/calendar.asp I wonder who the camper is? Will Seattle camper Skip Frombach make another TV appearance? I would offer to record this but I do not have the technology. I'll try to take notes. I'm told it will air tomorrow, Tuesday Feb 21 between 3 and 4 Pacific Time. As far as I know this is local Seattle TV, I don't know how widely the show is broadcast. I don't care for the dopey soap opera broad...

BIGFOOT BREAKTHROUGH?
A Northwest man's camping trip encounter with the legendary creature. New signtings, (sic) new fingerprints...how CSI technology could finally catch Sasquatch, Tuesday

Fingerprints, eh?

Oooooo I'm glad I pulled up the BF forum today. Setting my sell phone alarm so I don't forget to record it.

The segment opened with a 911 call from Western Washington. Paul Graves began to talk about the recent flurry of hominid reports coming out of Malaysia. Soon the Sonoma video was played, as "BFRO.net" was displayed on the screen.

Graves mentions his friendship with Bob Gimlin and denied the hoax rumors of the Patterson film. Graves claims to have interviewed 150 Sasquatch witnesses, as well has having heard screams and had rocks thrown at him.

After the commercial break, a man whom I believe to be one of the Wallace family, is shown walking with the fake wooden feet commonly seen on the Internet after the death of Ray Wallace, Personally, I had been skeptical that such a flimsy strap could hold a man's foot securely to make tracks, but there was the proof; It is indeed possible to make fake tracks using the Wallace style fake feet with their flimsy looking straps.

Graves brought in 3 casts, one of which was his own foot. The other two purported Sasquatch casts I did not recognize, and appeared to have been made in sand or coarse soil.

Graves was joined by Mel Skahan Though the first screen overlay had him identified as "Curtis Easterbrook"
Working in the forest Mel found 22" tracks in the snow.

After the commercial break the latest BFRO stills from Silver Star Mountain were shown and discussed. Strangely, one of the famous Cliff Crook photos was also shown.

The program then segued to hair analysis and had Henner Fahrenbach on the phone who claimed to have studied "700 trackways"

Mel then detailed his own sighting in which he saw a large black object move away from him which he then followed.

After a commercial break a short segment with Cliff Crook included hairs that Crook believed were from Sasquatch.

When asked by an audience member Paul Graves suggested that Sasquatch may bury their dead.

The last shot of the show featured a video overlay of "BFRO.net"

In looking at the NWA archives page, it appears they archive shows the next day. As to whether it is the entire show or just segments will have to wait until tomorrow.

If you have cable, the Northwest Afternoon "Bigfoot Breakthrough?" is available on demand.
Otherwise, the Seattle Mystery Museum has it recorded in its entirety.

It was a fair segment especially if one did not know anything about bigfoot.
The best part was the 911 call.

On a live show when hosts and crew are prepared... either with pictures, sounds and especially a script. They throw you in the mix, unrehearsed, this is your first tv shot, you are going to stumble through words.

I asked before being taken into the 'GREEN ROOM' to go through the pictures and everything that they planned on showing, BUT was denied access.

The questions from the audience were gathered during each commercial break. We never heard them until they were asked live on tv, if I could hear the questions when they were gathered, I would have had the opportunity to answer a bit better, because of time, had to answer fast.

The pictures (Ivan Marx) that were shown were mostly hoaxed, sound played was not identified by me, meaning I did not know the source, sure that it's on the internet somewhere, but was first time I had heard.

They played the Sonoma Video. My impression is that there is not enough there to say this was actual proof of a walking biped.

A telephone conversation with Dr. Henner Fahrenbach. He was asked about hair samples and tried to answer question about the hair collected in the Manitoba area last year.

The show was quick. You have limited time to get through your answers. There was more detail that I wanted to go through in my encounters, but was rushed and tried to get out as much as I could.

Quick, Fast and to the point.

You learn not all media is the same. For those doing live shows, try to get list or order of questions, so that you are prepared to answer quickly. With newspaper or magazines you don't like the way it was edited and it's already on the stands... you can't win. Just go out and do the best that you can.

It appears I jumped the gun on this... their archives just list a synopsis of the segment

The show was Great! The guest were well prepared for the skeptical host and audience. the only problem is they pushed it to the last half hour, so you were stuck listening to the daily Soap Opera Update the first half of the show - In which I learned that Alexis has a rare deadly liver disease which her boyfriends Mother has the cure, but she is charging her a million dollars a dose, Brandy is having an affair with Scott behind the back of his wife Sage who is not aware because she is to busy flirting with her male nurse who is the mystery father of Heather's new baby.

Hell with Bigfoot... thanks for the Soap Opera update. :new_lmaosmiley:

I also learned that even with the sound muted, Cinci Rinehart's face contorts in strange ways. With the sound on, I discovered that the qualities of pompous and trivial can indeed exist in the same person.

If you remembered that BO from Days of Our Lives was the secret word and you were the thirteenth caller.... BOY howdy, you were the winner.

Mel, I'm watching the tape again and really enjoyed your reports. You and Paul Graves gave
very level answers and did a great job. (Did you see Cindy Rhinehart laugh her head off
when she heard "Bigfoot" to the point that Ken had to come over to restrain her?) ugg.

I especially liked the explanation of the stride lengths. Its nice to see bigfoot reports
on TV.
I'm familiar with Northwest Afternoon and they ask the audience questions before they start
taping and then pre-select the questioneers to ask again their questions during the show. I
think they do a good job of selecting intelligent questions.

Did you work for Fish and Wildlife?
Mel.Skahan
I've spent nineteen years in Forestry, worked many programs but none of them have been for Fish and Wildlife.

I work alongside them at times but not to the extent of collecting the type of data they do.

Before coming to the reservation I worked in Skamania County in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

The sounds used for this show were made up around Index Washington. A small group of Bigfroot researchers go there quite often. I believe that Dick or Richard Grover is still associated with them. Trouble is that two of their members routinely scream out their own versions of what a Bigfoot sounds like in their minds, including wood on wood banging.

Autumn Williams had a copy of this recording on Mysterious Encounters down at Mt. St. Helens (Dick Grover showed up at Eagle Cliff Resort to get on the show with the sounds). We played some of them while out there in the woods at night.

I believe that these are actually of human origin. I only remember one persons' name associated with making these sounds out in the woods... Phil Phage, name maybe misspelled. Can't remember the other guy's name. They use to do the same thing down at Roy to scare another group researching that area.

I too was asked to go on the show but turned them down. After watching it I felt like they were trying to bring up all the negative publicity of recent times and throw it at the guests... not really giving them their own time to answer it. The hosts had time to study what they were going to talk about but didn't give the guests any... tells you where they were headed huh.

Bigfoot Hair samples... Teslin... Henner... Bison

Bigfoot tracks... Wallace clan...

Bigfoot film... Ivan Marx... Cliff Crook... Patterson... Starlight... Sonoma...

Bigfoot sounds...

Bigfoot encounters...

How many positive things were talked about? Who chose the questions submitted by the audience members?

You guys did good for what was handed you!

True dat, nice job Mel. (except i love the fact that they couldnt even get your name right on the screen until the second half of the segment :new_rolleyes: )..I wasn't too impressed with the hosts and overall 'flavor' of the program's approach.

Luckily I was able to catch it on On Demand (thanks Charlette) so I could fast forward thru all the soap opera crap yuk.gif

As some have mentioned, it is nice to see anything BF related get some mainstream attention (even if it's not all necessarily positive attention). At least it gets people thinking.

I think that the guests did a good job of fielding the questions despite not being given any prior info and having the hosts constantly cutting them off..That got pretty annoying.
Mel.Skahan
Hosts had earpieces on so they knew what was coming or where to take it. The audience questions were taken during the commercial breaks, I tried to hear them over the producer and the makeup man coming onto the set, but because of the noise was unable to hear all of them, there were many of them, but it looked to me that the producer decided which would be asked.

As I stated earlier, I had asked to see the pictures.... really everything that was put on the show. I waited and waited and nobody took me through it. I then realized that it was going to be a tough answer to the best of your knowledge setup. .

Why I tried to remain as silent as possible on things... we were told not to correct the hosts, and answer as fast as possible. I was backstage during the first five minutes and when I had heard what was going on, knew that we were in for a bf bake.

Looking at the icon in the lower left of the screen "Bigfoot Breakthrough"... I thought 'all right' I am going to see new stuff, but then wondered... what breakthrough? at the end of the program. We did not get the chance to talk. We never presented anything not seen before... I wanted to go into this as an investigator... and finally what CSI techniques other then a microscope.

To me if I saw a bigfoot show built up the way that they did it and saw a shlump like me stuttering through it... I would be really disappointed... chalk up another one for the media or the hoaxers, which ever you think benefited from it. But thanks for all the kind words, everyone.

I made the trip as a request to a friend, Paul Graves, who invited me to be along with him because of the bigguy experience.

I tried my best... see why folks stay away from the media most of the time.

I did not know until after the program that I was identified as 'Curtis Easterbrook', he was the third person invited to the program and guess he got caught up in traffic, he never made it.

You’re always your own worse critic. I thought you guys did fine. The shows content would not of changed anybodies mind, but your personal account and the 911 call I’m sure sparked curiosity. Like our curiosity was sparked at one time.

By the way did you catch the other program on Bigfoot this week? Been a bonus week for Bigfoot on TV. First the Northwest Afternoon show, then as I was channel surfing Friday I found this on the Travel Channel's 1-hour weekly program called Weird Travels.

Weird Travels: ''Bigfoot.'' The truth behind the legend of Bigfoot. 02/24/06

The first half of the show was mostly rehash of the same old stuff, the Patterson film, the Northern California tracks found the gave it the Bigfoot name and such, but in the last half hour they followed the Texas Bigfoot Research Org on an expedition. TBRO was doing late night call blasting which was interrupted once by some ATV's going by. They tried again and after not to long got a return call which you could hear on the program. It was the actual sound, not a dubbed-in sound which they sometimes do to protect the copyright of the original recording. The only drawback of the show is they did not mention Washington, Oregon, or B.C. at all, in fact when they mentioned the Northwest they were referring to the Willow Creek, CA area.

Its you! smile.gif It may have been down for a time but is back up now. Traffic overload?

Mel, everyone who has seen Northwest Afternoon knows how they operate can see through all that. Just realize you may have introduced bigfoot to a nine year old future researcher. I think the more people who talk
about their encounters the better.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to call Cindy Rhinehart and have a little talk with her...
Mel.Skahan
I did not know they were going to plug the BFRO after or during the show. But tried to gather info to have other orgs listed.

Like I said earlier, I never had the chance to see other info, so they most likely would not have listed other orgs.
