Folks, any comments on the stories on the listed site? Specifically the gas station incident and the LBL Beast. The gas station story is a classic encounter, but any ideas on the werewolf story. Seems to me that if three people were murdered, there would have been plenty of facts leaking out, even if some sort of news blackout were in effect. And what about relatives, friends, co-workers, etc. Would seem hard to muzzle all of them. Sounds like a good yarn to me. I apologize in advance if this has been covered in another thread, did a search but did not find anything. Could not help but wonder what would have happened if Jan had popped up from below the counter with a horrible look on her face about the time the creature was touching the window? Turnabout is fair play I guess... :new_thumbsupsmileyanim:

I hadn't seen this website before, so thank you for pointing it out.

I have to say, I read the first two pages of the website and was impressed by the richness of detail. The stories are SO well-written in fact, that I want to say "fiction writer" or "English Major!!!" However, having just driven through that area last summer, and having had car trouble there, I have to say that it is a spooky, remote place.

Last July, a good friend and I had rented a car, and were driving south from Chicago, when we broke down somewhere between Illinois and the Tennessee border. My friend's AAA auto club could not find us, even though we had called in a 911, and an Auto Club mechanic had actually called in our exact location. I mean, we were out in the boonies, and the ravens were circling overhead!!! After an hour, a guy finally arrived and worked on the car, but I was beginning to think we would see Bigfoot before we ever saw anyone with a set of tools. smile.gif

I think we should do some research, and try to see if there is an actual news story about some campers being killed. The writer says there won't be anything in the news, which may be a sign that this isa "Story" and not "the Truth."

But I'm keeping an open mind, since I know that area.

Hmm...concerning the gas station incident. The writer is far too articulate and the story is comprehensively tailored. I doubt that this writer would, at any time, even pre-education, be slinging dollar bills at an all night gas station. I'm leaning more Stephen King mode than fact. Great suspense, though. My bird chirped while I was reading the story, scared the sh*t out of me, lol !

Not to say that's not a good point but......

My brother-in-law, smart guy, history major, graduated summa cum laude, but can't get a decent job (what does a history major do, anyway?). He works in a quicky mart, doing the midnight shift. He's not ambitious, actually lazy, and likes to live poor and laid back. He can write very well.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I'll have to ask him if he's ever had a bigfoot outside his store at night!

When browsing the site, I concentrated mostly on "Jans Tales" then looked at the rules for submitting a story. Only "true firsthand accounts" are accepted, so......we're supposed to believe that ALL of those things happened to ONE person in one lifetime!? C'mon! Either she's one of the most unfortunate folks on the planet, or she's powdering her Cheerios with more than sugar. A talented writer for sure, with a great imagination and a knack for entertaining.

thanks for the link!

Well written story.

The pix of 'Fort Apache', in the context, scared the hell out of me.

Thanks for the site. I gotta say though - while the writing is good - if I'm left hanging on too long when reading a book/story - I cheat and start skipping over parts that I'm not interested in and there is a lot of that going on in at least the first story I see. I don't think a good story teller would do that. Heck, if they did - I wouldn't buy the book (if it was in fact a book). So! If this writer is leaning toward wanting to sell some books - they'd better learn how to move the story along as they're writing. To use an example, I don't need to read paragraph after paragraph describing the location's atmosphere. I could have covered that in the first paragraph, and yet it goes on and on.

We used to have one of those close by and I bought gas there from time to time. Paid through the "teller" slot. Those are extremely tiny buildings. Not a whole lot of places to hide. Could literally stand in the middle, put your arms out, and touch both sides at the same time. Total length is about 12-15 feet.

IF all of these stories are true, then the woman has had a very "interesting" life. Certainly not one I would have wanted. I got the website from the Cowman thread. I cannot remember who posted it first, but I want to give credit where credit is due.

This website looks very familier. For months before I joined up, I read thru all the past postings. And one of the threads in the archives involved either this or other storys in the same vane from what I believe was the same website. It ended up with the site owner and the author coming on and defending the truthfullness of the storys as posted on the website. Maybe someone can look it up as the search function hates me - even after improvements.

Great site..I'm still looking over my shoulder and kind of dreading working my 11 to 7 shift tonight at the nursing home. Our parking lot not only has poor lighting but is surrounded by Pine Barrens :scared:

for those of you just reading the main articles, there are follow up photos and links to the actual areas decribed, located on the right side column on the main page under jan's updates. You can actually view the gas station and the bunker area where the stories get alittle better. Go take a look. Here's the direct link

Really enjoyed reading the tales. The Beast and the Garage where great. The Garage one I feel may have a ring of authenticity to it but I feel that the Werewolf one reads far to well for it to be anything other.

Maybe something horrific did occur and over the years the story has become more 'supernatural'.Living in the UK quite a few tales of werewolves spring up from time to time.I remeber reading a couple of sightings on the Cryptomundo site that certainly where interesting so maybe.

One thing is for certain and that is I don't discount anything any more because as time goes by more and more of these 'incidents' come to light and I am a firm believer in the no smoke without fire school of thought.

Read the gas station story. Wow, gave me the creeps. I agree that it seems so descriptive and so lengthy that I also wonder if it's true. Also read about the cops that were speechless and really upset by what they had seen at the campground (family being murdered). How could any of this be legitimate and not get leaked by way of say, a mortician, family members or employers. I am very skeptical that these are true stories.

I agree with you Sunflower. The gas station story on the surface at least seems credible and is in line with other BF stories. But the ones about the the "werewolf" (for lack of a better term) have too many questions. I noticed that in the updates, Jan herself seems to question whether the family murder incident really happened. I wonder if during her investigation with the out of state BF researchers, if they actually made it to the purported site. Seems like they got to the creek but no further. At least she did not write about it if they did. It is interesting that there were structures built near the area and abandoned. I am not sure how they could be attributed to the government though. Looks like someone local would have some info on how & why they were built.

I have been to Land Between the Lakes many times and the structures in the photos look like other "rest facilities" I have seen. Toilets, bath houses etc. This area was a booming tourist area at one time. As far as these concrete block structures being bunkers. Not likely.

She's a good story teller...

I found it to be very good reading. The structure appears very well built he would have to work to get in it.If you were gonna have to face a high-strung bf this building looks good as any.Small so he couldn't sneak-up on ya  add my little rifle and i believe i would risk it to see one that close. But that don't mean i wouldn't piss my pants.I enjoyed the story either way. :lock: :lock:p.s. i give it two dancing locks.LOL
