Since I was left all alone this afternoon I figured I'd pull a Tom Cruise-in-Risky Business-type act and run amok.
Even though the mask has been in a box and has white glue on it and the CAP portion (the peak) is in another box, I just stuck the thing on my head to see what it would look like.
First I put the camera on a tripod and walked through the yard. It turned into sort of a "blobsquatch" situation. Almost like the original PG film - but still - I know that's not what was requested.
So next I tried a closer shot with me peering through the brush, moving side to side and jogging on the hill. Most of the time I was still too hidden by shadow. I had to stick my head up into the sunlight and try to be seen by the camera. (*The bottom two pics are from this little experiment)
Then finally I had a thought; what if I tried a "Blair Witch" approach and ran around with the camera in my hand? I would have no way of knowing if I was even on camera, but I would be bound to get something up-close and in motion out of it.
So that's what I did. That's my own eyes peeking out. I started by videotaping myself in the mirror and then walked outside and looked around.
One thing I learned is it looks pretty creepy. The other thing is that while I did scare the Mexican fellows working on the roof next door, I at least got to learn a new Spainish word. Apparently "loco" is Mexican for "good research dude"...
That'll help me to communicate when I close in on the Chubacabra later.
