I wanted to sort of seperate this from the regular SRI thread, as it's more of a general announcement and is sort of buried in the other thread.
Anyway....SRI is now live! The link is here:
http://www.sasquatchonline.com/component/o...tpage/Itemid,1/Thanks to those who put in a TON of hard work getting it ready.

I'm not sure the subject has come up! If it did, it would be with permission of course, perhaps a link or something(like space.com does with related content).
As to where to send something you think may be of interest, you could send it to anyone on here who is an associate(some of us have the logo), or go to the site and use the contact us button I think!

Nice looking site so far. However it it is officially open then you might want to unlock all of the forums. :-)

Dec 4 2005, 03:50 PM
micahn, the forums are going to be used mostly for public discussion of sightings in the database. Since we don't have any completed sighting investigations posted, most of the forums are still locked. They'll open as we start getting in some reports.
Get out there and start huntin', folks!

:yeahthat:
The forum component has been on the back burner, since, obviously, getting the site up and setting up the database system has taken up a lot of time. We should have the forum open for discussing reports soon.

I may be wrong, but I fail to see the state of Kentucky on the public access page for SRI CoRE and Washington DC is listed as a state. Other than that the SRI website if off to a good start.

I don't know who Steve J is, but maybe the guy introducing the group should have the courage and conviction to publically, openly stand behind his intro. If you don't have the confidence to admit it, if you're afraid of being outed, then let someone else who can, and take a secondary, safe, anonymous role for yourself. If the group solves the mystery by getting the conclusive evidence that changes all of this, I bet then he'd be willing to identify himself to share in the accolades, if there are any. What would Jim do?
nightwing
Dec 5 2005, 06:36 PM
The intro was penned primarily by him, but with imput from a large number of associates.
Not everyone wants to deal with certain individuals who may cause endless problems...
I have an article on SRI, but I don't use my entire name either, for the same reason.
Sort of like when people use forum names here...it's a perfectly legitimate way of keeping your privacy..private.
And of all the things you could be upset about, if that's the worse, I think we've done a bang up job of starting off then

Of course I know and understand, but I just ran with the thought anyway, not censoring myself. But if those who elect to take a public leadership role in this to any extent, especially in the introduction to a new venture, are embarassed or ashamed of the association of their name to the topic, what is anyone else to think?

Most of the current articles on the site were pulled by the website administrators from our internal forum. They just used the writer's screen name as a byline. Nobody's trying to hide anything, we just don't actually even all know each other on a full name basis.

Actually, sojourner, Steve J didn't have any choice in the matter - yet. I put the article on the Web Site, as one of the Web Site admins. I did not have express permission from most who wrote articles to publish their full names, mostly because the Web Site redesign was kind of a Christmas present to the SRI Associates. I have not spoken to Steve J to be able to ask whether or not he wants his full name there or not. He volunteered to put into words, the thoughts and ideas of a great number of people. The writing is his, but he cannot take personal credit beyond that. In the end, after I speak with him, the article may be changed to be authored by "SRI Staff."
Do not misjudge, sojourner, I don't think there is anyone ashamed to be associated with SRI. That is not the reason for a degree of anonymity being used here. Also, please don't confuse volunteers with leaders. We have no leader.
So if you have a question about something said in the article, or want to make a comment, please feel free. Any one of us can, and will, answer to it. Thank you for visiting our Web Site too.

I knew it. I should've just censored myself. I didn't mean embarassed or ashamed of any association with SRI. Heck no. Anyone who's followed this board at all knows the group is composed of many people who have thoroughly demonstrated their knowledge, sincerity, ability, desire and competence. I only meant the subject of "bigfoot," which some people, even amongst us, are uncomfortable with discussing or revealing their interest in, apart from the safe confines of the community. I know, I know, no leaders...

I brought up the subject at church this week, asking an aquaintence if he had heard anything about a police report published in his local paper. My son and husband practically RAN from my side when I started to approach the topic... they joined another group on the other side of the narthex.
Turns out the aquaintence did not hear of the police report, but his son in law's father swears he saw a sasquatch on the interstate down south. He reported it to state troopers, too. Ya never know until you ask!
