That's what I felt about it! The movie suppose to be from a new book called Kong, King of Skull Island. I readed the author's interview from Prehistoric Times magazine. The author love King Kong that's why I hope the story is different from 1933 movie. Jassic Park 2 movie that they returned rex and baby back to Island then I hope samething to King Kong!

Chicago Tribune Newspaper rated it 3 and half stars!

the movie is about 3 hours and 7 minutes long! We might not like to see the end of the Kong at the end of the movie!
Enjoy the movie!

Well, I've got the "King Kong" game for my Xbox. It's developed in co-operation with Peter Jackson and it's supposed to follow the movie pretty good. Unfortunately, the last stage of the game (or chapter as I'd rather call it in this case) is called Kong's Death...
So much for the happy ending..

I just saw the preview in Seattle. Go see the movie!!
Awesome! The fur, the grunting, the chest thumping.
I'm not going to give the ending away but I think its way better
than the first two movies. Naomi Watts gets my vote for playing
the role with intelligence. I also couldn't help thinking Jane Goodall.
My only issue with the movie is the scene where they discover a track.
The track could have been better but I think if they showed a large gorilla
track - it would have looked to much like a bigfoot track - an too human.
I think overall this movie will make people consider we may have something
in our own woods and create better understanding of our interaction with other
primates.

Fantastic movie! What fun watching the special effects, I only wish the "prop-man" had realized he had British rifle slings on the Enfields which were probably
P-14s. Schutlz (Hogan's Heros) carried a 30/40 Krag. For me, this is as big of a distraction as would be watching Jesse James use a butane lighter in the new upcoming Western Flick. Still, "King Kong" gets two

Someday, they will be making a tear-jerker about the "Evidence Sasquatch".

Still don't know what to make of it. I have to go see it again. It just wasn't what I expected. I need another viewing.
I LOVED the 1933 New York setting though. Breathtaking. Best visuals I've ever seen on film.
I always said that Kong was NOT just an overgrown gorilla though. Willis O'Brien's Kong in 1933 was way more than that and he didn't walk around on all fours. This Kong isn't really 'scary' scary..

Great movie! Hate the end of the Kong!

Kong look real! Two ape speicalists from Linclon Park Zoo and Brookfield Zoo saw it and gave thumb up! Jackson should make Sasquatch movie!
Word Snowman make sense that no word as Bigfoot and sasquatch in 1930's. Good job movie!

do you know that something is not right? Blonde lady seem not cold with out a jacket with King Kong at the end of the movie. My friend insult it not make sense that she seem not cold then I told her that Kong's fur to keep her warmer than jacket. Maybe Hollywood forget to add a jacket for her?

overall Kong is super!

Is that supposed to be a joke? He "played" Kong the same way he "played" Gollum. The CGI movements were patterned after his own computer-tracked movements. That's why he spent months in Rwanda studying the behavior of gorillas. He's not "claiming" anything, he's stating a fact.

Well he was scary in the original. Gave me nightmares when I was kid, particulary the part where he grabs that woman from her bedroom in the skyscraper and drops her to her death below. Also, when Kong rampages through the native village stomping and chewing on everyone. That was a pretty damn scary to me back then.
QUOTE

Well they must have rigged something clever up. It's possible. They were expert animal catchers/transporters. If you look closely in one of the early scenes in the cabin there is a picture on the wall of them winching an elephant up. A little 'hint' of how they did it.

Being I’m a classic movie buff, I usually hate when they remake a masterpiece, take that stupid remake of Willy Wonka for instance. But in the case of King Kong, I loved the new one. When it comes out on DVD I will be happy to add it to my collection.
I give it 5 Stars
Another re-make, War of the Worlds however was a good fright movie, but it had many faults in the story that kept it from being a great re-make. 3 Stars

I totally agree. I've been thinking about why I wasn't too impressed with the 2005 version. Obviously, it's a very good film, excellent details, good acting, etc. Still, I felt something was missing. I was talking about the movie to someone else and then I noticed it: Kong is really an ape in this movie, while in the 1933 and 1976 versions, he's more of a 'monster' ape. I actually thought he was cute in this movie, while the Kong in the other two movies definitely had an edge for more violent behaviour

Actually Loup, I have totally changed my mind now. Since I made that old post I've seen Kong multiple times at the cinema plus a couple of times on DVD. I love it. I was too nitpicky and overly critical the first time I saw it. Then I took a step back and realised I should watch it without dwelling on the fact that it wasn't what I had in MY own mind and MY own vision. It's a film that improves upon subsequent viewings. It takes a little time (for those familiar with the King Kong story) to get used to the fact that it ISN'T a carbon copy of Kong 1933 but once I overcame that I really really enjoyed the movie.
My girlfriend (who was not a big fan of either the 1933 or 1976 versions) absolutely loves the movie and she dragged me to go see it at the cinema twice.

Oh, I won't deny it's a good movie, but I still think they've made Kong too likeable. I'm not sure whether that's due to the fact that in this movie, he is a 'real' ape, but that's my guess for now. I recently bought both King Kong ('76) and King Kong Lives ('86) (they were really cheap :new_whistle: ) and it does look more like a 'monster' there.
But, the 2005 one certainly was a good movie... not to mention I'll take Naomi Watts over Jessica Lange every day :new_thumbsupsmileyanim:

I think you have hit the nail on the head. He is a giant 'gorilla like' ape....so I guess it would go against type to make a giant gorilla like ape some kind of demented monster who goes around chewing on people and throwing them out of skyscraper windows.
Interestingly, King Kong's creator (Merien Cooper) wanted the 1933 Kong to be a pure giant gorilla but the animator ( Willis O'Brien) came up with something different and gave him man like qualities.
