I'm hoping someone on here can help point me to a chainsaw artist that might have some carved wooden statues (4-9+ ft) available for sale? I'm looking for someone in the Santa Cruz mountains area of Northern California if possible for ease of transport.
Thanks!

Hi Sass,
I'm not sure about any particular artists in that area, but there's a thread from last year
here in which a statue was on display at the Bigfoot Museum in Felton, CA. It's possible you could contact them and find out who the artist is and go from there.
Best of luck.

Thanks! I was already planning on calling Mike to find out. He's got two out front of his place. Just seeing if there were any other options floating around...

A 4 to 9 foot carved bigfoot, yes that would be nice, but expensive.
I want one too and it's what I thought of when I saw a yard filled with chainsaw carvings. So I stopped to look and ask about a bigfoot. Yes, they could do a bigfoot. No, they'd never done one - there were bears and totem poles and fish and frogs and owls and on and on. They had a pile of logs and I was surprised to see they were using oak too, not just pine. They were just finishing an oak totem pole, not more than 8 feet I don't think; it was $2000.
But for good wide shoulders (and a reasonable height - I don't really want a four footer), I said, it'd have to be a bigger log than any of those, like a 3-footer(diameter), and I think I'd want oak...
Yes, such a log can be found, the man said. (Just have to find and destroy a spectalcular specimen.)
Well it's $150 per foot for a "regular" carving. I think a special big oak log would mean a pretty hefty final price. I'm thinking about it. I wish I could get my hands on a big cedar log, or a couple of them, (then I could have a totem pole too). (It sure would improve my yard.)

There are a couple places on Highway 9 that do wood carvings, right up the road from the museum. If you are on Hwy 9 heading North from the museum, they are on the right-hand side of the road. One just about a mile or so up from the museum, and the other is a bit further up, if I'm not mistaken. They both display their carvings right on the side of the road, so they aren't too hard to find.

How about an eight inch woodie? Actually he is made out of plastic, and the arms
and legs articulate. Odd thing though, I have left two of these out in an area that I research in Washington State, and both have disappeared. The site is on private property, and was only out one night before walking off - both times. Nothing was left for me, the the area looked undisturbed, other than the action figures missing.
If anyone finds these, please return....ha!

I don't know who carved this 10 foot wooden Sasquatch but it's located at the Bigfoot Campgrounds a few blocks from John Green's house in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia. I took the photo a couple of months back when we went up for a visit with John and June.

The only place I've ever seen sasquatch carvings was in Cloudcroft, N.M. and those were mostly small, 2 feet tall or so. I see people who carve bears all over the place, and I've always thought I'd want a bigfoot carving too. I've thought of even trying it myself sometime and probably will eventually. I had no idea those things were so pricey though.

What scares me is the dude who carves a belt buckle out of a piece of wood while you are WEARING it. A friend of mine watched it being done, the guy puts his finger in your navel, said he can feel if anyone is going to move by feeling in their navel, then he would pull the chainsaw out of the way.
Uhhhh, no thank you. :willies:

I think my doctor has three arms. He was giving me a proctological exam, yet I could swear he had both of his hands on my shoulders.
