Any idea what part of ny this person is in? Does this website discuss bigfoot? Just curious.

Here's what another person told:

We were camping in the Okeefenokee once and a screech owl woke me up about 2 a.m. I'd never heard one before (haven't heard one since, come to think of it).

I sat bolt upright in the tent, in my sleeping bag. I wasn't awake, though, I was in that sleepy disoriented confused place you wake up to when you're not at home in your own bed. I woke up enough to realize we were camping, thought "Hmm.... I didn't know they had monkeys in the Okeefenokee" and went back to sleep.

To me, it sounded like monkeys screeching at each other. I think if it were farther away it might sound like an animal screaming.

Makes you wonder.

I have seen a fleeting post every few months that may mention ol bigfoot. But it is basicaly a site that deals with affairs of plain living. IE self sufficiency farming alternative energy like solar and all things farm life related.

Yeah that Okefenokee post had me wondering as well.

Here is a map that about one tenth of the several thousand members have used to show where they live. Wait til the lil red flags pop up und click and it will show location ie down to the zip code nearest the residence

Something like this map would be great to get ideas of where members are located for any board. Its free.

Humm - i just need more info - I must need to get my eyes checked again -- I cant find this person on the map - LMAO.

Let us know if theirs an update on the story.

Umm, not to be a meanie-head, but is this gonna be another one of those "don't know what it is but it sounds like bf despite a more reasonable explanation" threads?

Just wondering. wink.gif
Dogfoot
It said: a farm in 'southern' NY.
Ty
Her farm is in Fallsburg N.Y. Sullivan county - a very rural part of
New York - No BFRO reports in that county but there are a few
in the neighboring counties.

Your guess is as good as mine

you mean like about 98 percent of the threads on every bf related forum around? Are we now requiring dna and photos and alot of armchair based knowledge and embellishments to make a post. If she would have said "i just know it was a bigfoot" then maybe youd change your mind? Well maybe not. I have yet to read more than a dozen reports in the 20 plus years I have read books, talked to people and read online that your synopsis wouldnt fit as well including some of the people on this very site. But by all means be a meanie head as you call it if it makes you happy.

Great post Big Dave and a great sight from what I can see. I am definitely into being back to the basics. Have you ever seen the magazine Backwoodsman, if you are into that kinda thing you would love it.

Also about the screech owl people give them too much credit.. they are nothing compared to a barred owl when something is invading their territory. They scream laugh and all kinda of things very spooky.

True dat.
Screech owls' usual call is a fairly gentle continuous kind of trill. Almost like a tree frog or a cricket. I have also heard them make hisses and weak screeches that are similar to a nighthawk, but nothing to crap your pants about.
But barred owls can really raise hell. Or sound like they've risen from hell. They regularly piss me off on camping trips when I'm trying to sleep. If I'm awake, though, they can be entertaining. They're pretty responsive to imitations of their calls.

They a re very responsive. I have gotten them really worked up while out hunting for turkeys.

Was he saying the screaming was something dying as it was being carried off? That's how it read to me. Maybe a coyote that caught a rabbit? We'll never know, but rabbits do make a screaming noise when in distress.

Depends on what we're huntin'. I can't imagine a Bunny with a pigsticker being good bait though...more of a trap.

Now that would be refreshing, wouldn't it?
