I was up near the Oregon caves near the Oregon and Califorina state lines. I found a nest and what looked to be a bedding area.
The first photo is a very large hollowed out snag with snapped off trees placed in a teepee like pattern. the branches were intertwined around the baseof the broken snag. Large enough for me to squat down in but certainly not large enough for a adult sasquatch. I was thinking maybe a young animal placed inside for protection from the elements.
The second photo is the tops of trees broken off and placed in a few piles near the first Snag nest. Looked as something large had layed ontop of the tree tops. Which I could not find the broken trees from where they came from.
Here is a link to the spot.

Sorry about the Grainy photos but it was all the film i had with me at the time.
The map wil lead you right to the spot. I have not been up to the spot in a few years but i tied a 4 ft lenght of surveyors tape on a tree just past the rocky wash area on the right side of the road as you head north.
Dont go up there past mid october the snow gets deep and you will get stuck.
As for your question maheekat. I would say about 10 feet in diameter and it was more of a pile of trees. Something dragged them there then crushed the pile with body weight.
I posted a map for anyone interested to go and have a look.

Very interesting pics Ken. Have you come across this kind of thing before or is this a first for you? What is the area like with regards to human visitation? Is it far from the nearest road?

The best way to get there is to go to Cave Junction Oregon driving south on 199. Drive through the town and on the left less than a mile is Rockydale Road. Drive on Rockydale Road for 5 or 6 miles it comes to a T at the Waldo Happy Camp Road (NFD 48). Take a left there and continue through Takilma along the NFD 48. The Bolan lake road (NFD 4812) is on the left just before the state line.
The dirt road NFD 4812 crosses into California and then back into Oregon in a mile or so, the road forks north(NFD 040) and south NFD (041) you want to take the north NFD road 040.
In the Oregon DeLormes atlas it is on page 19 grid # D-5 at the bottom of the grid. Just north of where the creek crosses the road on the eastern side of NFD 040. It is only 40 to 60 meters from the road on the western slope of Althouse mountian.
As for your other questions Lyndon:
My first possible nest site I have found: yes
Human visitation: yes there is Bolan lake with a campground at the end of NFD 040(good trout fishing i hear). If you take NFD 041 it leads to Tannen lake and East Tannen Lake and on to the Red Buttes Wilderness further to the east.
This area is about 5 miles Southwest as a crow flies from the Oregon Caves National Monument.

I didn't find any other evidence other than two prints of different sizes down near the road.
I looked for hair on the inside of the snag and i didn't see any.
If you get a chance head up and check it out

This is, of course, the area where Dr Matt Johnson had his widely publicized sighting back in 1990....One of many sighting reports from that area....

I can't tell much from the images but would tend to err on the side of skepticism here, like we should do with everything else. If it really looks constructed, the first rule out is humans which is always my default and is pretty close to impossible to disprove. Also, just about any hairy animal lying down anywhere for more than a couple seconds will leave some hair. Of course it isn't easy to find and may not sit there forever, but I'd suspect any area worth bedding down would be protected enough to guard a few hairs for quite a long time.
And I think just about everyone knows this by now but most apes will defecate and urinate in/from their nests when they leave them in the morning. Doesn't mean sasquatches necessarily would, but I don't know why they wouldn't unless they reuse nests unlike other apes.

Maybe these structures are not about "Protection from the elements" - could they be more for a place to lay down- but camoflage them a bit? A place where they can hide themselves better should they hear something approaching - they can look, and be less visible? I dont know, just wondering about that as a possibility.
I realize I give the sasquatch more credit in the intelligence department than most, but is that a possibility?
Why else would they create a structure like this - thats so open.
Just wondering

Very interesting. If someone went throught the trouble to hoax it, I'd say they have too much time on their hands. But lackof hair or other evidence leaves me a bit doubtful.

1990? Or the sighting he had in 2000? I wasn't aware of Dr. Johnson having a sighting before 2000.
