I was searching through some Wisconsin newspaper archives and wondered if anyone in the LaCrosse, Wisconsin/SE Minnesota area heard of this story. If you did was there any follow-up or further information since this story came out.

WOW! Very cool read,I can picture that scene with the terrified dog and massive shadow through the curtians reminds me of "The legend of Boggy Creek" just waiting for the hairy arm to break through the window. The article kind of leaves you hanging, whats happening there? Maybe an E-mail to the reporter to see if any more follow up has been done.

Great story. Being that area is full of bluffs following the Mississippi along the Minnesota/Wisconsin border, I guess it could be a seasonal traveling spot for a Squatch.

Thats kind of what I have thought for a while, growing up in this area. Right now we live a couple hours north of LaCrosse on the river and my parents another half hour or so up.(Plus relatives in both Houston and Fillmore counties) Last night was the first time I had ever read that encounter, it was really interesting. Living in southeastern MN, it was very easy to visualize it also.

there are plenty of reports of Sas attempting to open doors - i doubt if everyone in the backcountry keep their doors locked so where are the reports where Sas gets in???
(edit - the above is an interesting report, i'm not doubting it's authenticity)

Great story for sitting around a camp fire and trying to scare kids. It reminds me of a lot of claims I have read lately- a friend of a friend. The reporter adds a lot of scenery to dress it up-but if it was real why use an alias? Why would a BF bang on her door? "The smell of death-a little dramatic? Sounds like a sweet old lady that wanted attention and moreover a reporter wanting a story. It was nice though.

The article was written by Terry Burt, a now retired reporter for the LaCrosse Tribune, who still contributes regularly in their "Regional Section". Mr. Burt also did an article regarding the plans he made for when he retired. According to that article, the plans included heading to the Pacific Northwest to spend some time looking for Bigfoot. He also worked on the story that also appeared in the LaCrosse Tribune in the fall of 1976 regarding the Cashton WI Bigfoot sighting.
Anyway, I've sent an e-mail to the editor of the section where his articles have been appearing, with the request if she can't answer the questions I've submitted, to please forward the e-mail to Mr. Burt.
Only time will tell and I'll keep you up-to-date on anything I hear.
