Now try to go the other way around, start with bigfoot and finish with science...

What i'm trying to say in a very bad english, is can we go from bf to science without going through Paranormal etc ?

Merci

I agree L.B!

One would think that by now we would have attained alternative status??

Not sure what you mean L.B., but I'll drink to it anyway... :guinness:

"Why is the subject of Bigfoot always lumped in with all the paranormal stuff? Why can't the subject be treated with a legitimate scientific attitude?"

Is that the quesion? If not, it should be one of them. I get so frustrated looking up bigfoot related info, only to be directed to some place that has so much paranormal stuff to wade through before I can even find the bigfoot info.

I posted this elsewhere, but have made a few adjustments: wink.gif

We most certainly can! It is the "how," and even the "why," that may prove the biggest hurdles. I don't know which is more difficult: Changing the minds and approach to the subject by scientists, or trying to change the media and the public's perceptions on the subject.

It won't be easy, but it can happen. The recent Yukon hair analysis attempt seemed to show that at least the scientists involved, and even some of the media outlets reporting it, were willing to take it seriously and approach it scientifically.

It is also for this purpose that the administrators of this board here, as well as the BFD, chose to have such a firm stance against discussing Bigfoot in the context of the paranormal. People researching the subject online, and that includes the media, are probably going to run across the forums somewhere along the line. Maybe, just maybe, they will start reading and realize that there are those who are approaching the matter seriously and scientifically, and that we all aren't a bunch of loonies turning the Patterson film into a Rorschach test. It is going to have to start from the ground up, and it actually already has. The Yukon incident showed that. Before the hair analysis results were released, people weren't as quick to dismiss the possibility as they would have been a few years ago. There is hope. And it starts here, with people like us.

It's not bad English; don't worry about that! What you say makes perfect sense to me. In the mainstream, this topic is still thought of as paranormal. It is a stigma that is associated with this topic, and in the mainstream, it will be very hard to break, unless earth-shattering, proof-positive evidence is discovered.

Good thoughts, Le Bigefout. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint and ideas. new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif
