Its late.and I'm brainstroming for ideas of what to do Friday night when I hit the backroads and firetrails again.I started thinking about the area I'll be driving around and it hit me (like shamans frisbee..) Have I seen one while doing this and just didn't know it ? Was that dark shape at the edge of my night vision not a cow ? was it something else ?Was that dark shape you saw while driving home from work more than just a deer ? How many times have any of us seen something at the far edge of our vision or in the dark of the night and found the other explanation ? What if that skunk or decomposing animal you smelled while out hiking wasn't what it seemed to be ? what if you had over ridden you fear of bathing in tomato juice for a week and went a little farther to see ? What if the flashback you saw from your flashlight the next night wasn't from reflectors again and you had actually checked ? (sorry had to throw that in for comedys sake ) What if I had just walked a little further that night/day ? What if I shut up now and showed some smarts by going to sleep ? What if that were really a possibility ? G'night.

Yeah jim...

What if I had gotten out of that truck to see what crawled under the tree that morning in Idaho years ago...

Heck, I'd even take a set of reflectors right now...

Yep i know what you mean.
Two weird things this month, one driving down the road with a big black thing out in the field. I dunno. Weird. It wasn't there on the way back.
Second was I smelled something weird at a bridge and road intersection when I went to see a place that some guy suggested I look at.
Didnt see anything, but the smell was .... I dunno. weird. Wasn't fox and wasn't skunk but kinda bad.
Makes you wonder.

I've experienced a lot of what-ifs Jim.

I remember a couple of years ago, Paul and I were driving up the mountain to have dinner at the Lodge up there for our anniversary and we stopped at one of the look-out vistas. There was this terrible smell there that was so strong, we couldn't stand to breathe and had to move on down the road quickly to get away from it. Well, I thought about that smell later on after dinner and on the way back down the mountain I had him stop at the same vista, but guess what...no smell. Nothing. Makes me wonder. icon_confused.gif

Yep. The smell. Often at my families place, we get this smell on the evenings, not skunk or something decaying, unexplainable but it sure stinks! My Dad always blames it on the neighbors cattle but i dont think it smells like bovine. biggrin.gif

Hi folks
This area that I squatch had this bush that was black and dark on the bottom and aruond the area. It didn't look like a shadow to me. It looked solid. There were other signs at this spot and I'd been baiting. I took pictures and of course they are nothing but blob squatches but I just couldn't walk up to that bush. My skin was really crawling that day. On other times out recently the bush has not had the "shadow" and I had no qualms of the area and walked up to it. The bush/tree held a hollow that would have fit a squatch quite nicely. goldie
