I did a search to see if I could come up with any sightings of Bigfoot by Fire Fighters as they were fighting Wild Land fires but came up empty.

I was watching the New's awhile ago and saw a story about the forest fires that are rageing in certain areas of the country and I got to thinking about all the animals that must be on the move to get out of the way of the flames and smoke of these wild fires and thats when Bigfoot entered my mind.

Has there been any reports of a Sasquatch being sighted by Smoke Jumpers or fire fighters as they were battleing a forest fire in remote country? It seems if a Sasquatch was in the area of one of these forest fires the Big Guy would be certainly on the move to avoid the fires and smoke and it would give any person in the area a chance of seeing it on the move.

Too bad there's not a orginization with the time and funds to rush off in short notice to a place where a forest fire just started and start observeing the area for a Bigfoot trying to escape the flames and smoke. These fires deffinately get the animals in the area moveing.

Ive got a friend who used to work for the Forestry Dept in Calif some years back. He told me once while we were on a fishing trip that he saw what looked like an adult BF with two smaller ones digging the ground under the pine trees in the Seq Forrest some where high above Isabella. He saw this while during some training they were going through. Not sure if anyone else saw anything or not. Sorry I don't have much details. This story was told to me probably 5-6 yrs ago and I have not talked to him in a few years.

Well, here's what this reminds me of. My first gathering with fellow bigfooters included a discussion of Thom Powell's "The Locals." I know there's a range of opinion regarding Powell and some of his opinions but I don't necessarily jump to any unwarranted conclusions and you don't have to throw out the baby with the bathwater, so to speak. Weigh it all for what it's worth and draw your own conclusions. But anyway, a story was mentioned that was in that book and made me want to read it just for that alone. It was about a big forest fire and a bigfoot supposedly came out of the woods scorched and exhausted among a bunch of firefighters or forest workers who surrounded it. It apparently sat down in surrender or no resistance due to its injuries. It was given aid and taken away then. I read the borrowed book quickly once and returned it so I can't check if I've got this mostly right, but I'm sure many others here have read it, so maybe someone else can chip in here. Incredible story, but I would think there would be some additional confirmation of this somewhere, but there isn't that I'm aware of. Don't know if it's total hearsay bs fiction or not but it was a good read for a page or two. If there's any reason to dismiss it, I'd like to know.

The Hayman fire burn in central Colorado made an incredibly huge portion of the Pike National Forest naked and exposed and less suitable habitat, that's for sure. Very well could have had a bigfoot on the run where it would rather not...

Today Anchorage is overcast with a pall of smoke. Even indoors it smells like somebody's got a campfire going down the hall.

The Kenai Peninsula is on fire, near Tustumena Lake.

I've never heard of a sasquatch report from that area of the Kenai Peninsula, though. The reports or stories I've heard were more from the Gulf side, which is so wet (coastal rainforest) that it rarely burns.

Just got back from lunch. Visibility in Anchorage is down to about a quarter mile. The sky is completely brown.

And that fire is over 100 miles away by crow flight.

It must be a big one.

About 11 years ago there was a sighting by a fire crew, at least 10 of them, out of 21 on the crew had come across a large biped. Sure some folks in Oregon may know about this, it was investigated by a local investigator.

I was on the same fire, but was working with a USFS fire crew assigned to the area the night before sighting, was not bothered by anything. The drainage it walked out of was dark and brushy outside of the burned area.

How exciting to hear that something happened in an area you were in just hours before a sighting.

Did see the video of the tracks (foot and hand). The fire crew was from the Yakama Reservation. About a year ago did get an opportunity to get the full story from three of the follks on the fire.

Great thread! I find it absolutely fascinating that you would bring up the subject when I had just been wondering about that very subject. I was also wondering about hurricanes, tornados, etc., and what effect those weather conditiions would have on bigfoot and what they do at that time. On one hand I hope this creature can be discovered - but on the other hand - sometimes I hope they are not because I have to wonder what it will mean to them considering we have zoos and such. Somehow though I don't think there is any way to contain a bigfoot in anything but a cage and I would hope that would not be done. You know once the first one is found - it's going to be big money because everyone wants to see them, and when I think of that - that is when I hope they're not found. Somehow I can't think they're ever going to be able to just blend in with us without a great change to the way they live now and maybe that's just too sad to think about.
