I listened to the two "howl" sound files. On the second (larger) recording it sounds like "howls" trying to sound like sirens and at times almost sounded like there were two individuals doing it. It definitely drove the dogs wild. I didn't read the entire exhibition report, but of the parts I read - having an unknown walker come close to a cloth tent would not be too comforting in my book. I've read of many incidents like this and whatever and whoever it is at these times - they have the presence of mind to quit walking and be absolutely still at the appropriate times. This is not the action of a dumb animal. Time and time again, when they hear humans stir they are absolutely quiet. I remember one time camping we heard something go into our bag of pop cans and we definitely stirred and the noise never stopped. In fact we looked outside the tent and there was a big bushy tail sticking outside of the bag. It was either a raccoon or fox. The big guy is definitely one smart creature.
