Full Version: Bent Trees?

Maggie
Okay, first, to be totally honest, i wasnt sure where this belonged! unsure.gif
Last fall my oldest son and i were walking by an old cabin down by where my parents live (where i grew up). He noticed something called my attention to it.
Leading into the woods was a type of path, the trees were bent across it, the only word that comes to mind is "cathedral" style? My son is 6'3" and these were twisted out of shape a good three feet higher than he is.
Just wondering if anybody might have an idea on this? I wont claim to be very knowledgeable on research! I am learning as i go.
We have a few black bear, other kinds of wildlife and such. I guess what intrigues me is how uniform it was, maybe a freak occurence of nature?
He started to follow it in but i felt a little nervous. Brave one arent i? wink.gif laugh.gif
At least that is what HE tells me. biggrin.gif
I havent been back there since then but imagine it is still there. I like to hike with the kids when i get a chance, maybe this calls for a camera on the next "walk".
ranshirl
Camera sounds like a great idea. I for one would like to see the pictures of the area you are talking about. It sounds interesting but was it any storm damage in the area elsewhere or anything to seem like it might be weather related or is it the only area like that?
Maggie
It was the only area like that. I remember Joseph reaching up and talking about how high the "top" of it was. Another thing that was interesting is that there were no saplings or really tall weeds growing in the "path".
The latest i will get back up there will be Memorial Day weekend, will take some pictures of it then so people could see what i was posting about since its kind of hard to explain. unsure.gif
Arkansan
Would love to see some pictures of that Maggie. smile.gif

Check around the area for other small saplings bent over. Do you know if there was heavy snow or ice in the area or maybe a long lasting drenching rainfall for several days?
Maggie
It was probably late September, no snowfall to speak of and not much rain in the week before anyway. The day was one of those bright, clear crisp ones of autumn.
Since people wish to see this i will make sure to take pics. You know, i have twisted and turned every which way to see how this could be naturally done and still look so artificial? Maybe when i post picture(s) someone will be able to shed more light on it.
Last year, when i first got on the computer, i posted on a Bigfoot site about some occurences that had happened where i was growing up. Being new to this, its terrible but it was kind of a hit and miss because i did not know WHERE to post. I registered with this site early this year and after reading about certain people stretching the truth, apparently in order to get publicity and money, i wished to hell i had not said anything at ALL. The only reason i reported was i thought it might maybe do somebody else some good one day, as in research or such. Attention seeking is not my thing. icon_confused.gif LOL, little bit of a rant.... icon_redface.gif I like this site because the members on it take everything into consideration when seriously (or maybe not so seriously laugh.gif ) discussing a subject and not at each others throats. I saw that other places. It was as if everybodys "story" had to be better than the one previous. It also reminded me of a flock of sheep, follow the leader no matter what and no common sense. Erf. This got out of hand. No more, i promise! biggrin.gif

First rant from Maggie... smile.gif

And to think, it wasn't that long ago when she was just saying hello...

Brings a tear to my eye... wink.gif

Maggie, if it were up to me...

I'd give you a battlefield promotion and another toe right here on the spot for outstanding service in the line of duty! cool.gif

Interesting Magie. Behind my parents place near Big Rapids, MI, several years ago a similar trail was formed. I always atributed it to a storm down draft, but it was always kinda weird. It went for maybe 100 yards, and almost straight, and was formed by a line of small trees bent over at about head height or shortly taller. As far as I know, the line of trees is still back there, I may try to take some pics next time I visit. It has grown up a bit, and the "trail" is not really visable as such, but the line of bent trees may still be discernable. Not sure until I take a look again.
Maggie
Okay RB I dont claim to be a GOOD ranter!!!! blink.gif laugh.gif
Nightwing, it would be interesting the see pics of what you describe too, it sounds very similiar.
Arkansan
Maggie, I understand your reluctance to share things, but believe me I don't in any way put you in the category of someone who makes things up for publicity or money. I don't think anyone here does. I honestly don't think those kind of people would waste their time posting here if they have spent any time at all reading this forum. They'd know they didn't stand a chance of fooling us and most likely would not feel comfortable trying.

It is sometimes very hard to know who to confide in and who will believe you and who is going to point fingers and call you a liar. I have never seen anyone here do that without damn good reason. And I do mean damn good reason.

Don't worry about sharing things here. We like to be thorough in our questions and like to rule out everything else first, then we accept it as it is.(Just ask RobUstes wink.gif ) One thing you can count on here is honesty and straightforwardness. We do want you to be comfortable with sharing your thoughts with us. We are glad to have you here.

[Edit] Oh, I hope I don't sound like I am speaking for everyone here. They can do that themselves, but I do know most of the people who have been here for very long well enough to know they feel the same way I do about this.

(You guys tell me to shut-up if you want to...LOL)

I think that summed up my feelings on it pretty well Arky. wink.gif

I am pretty new here too.And I feel a great deal of trust for the members they made me feel right at home ever since my first post I truley believe that they are some of the best and well meaning people in the world.I just want to thank you all for your big friendly welcome..thanks..tennessee hills
ranshirl
I agree with you on that Arky!
Maggie
I think that is why i feel a little more comfortable posting on this board, i read but dont post on any of the other ones. Granted, it took me a while (registered in January) biggrin.gif Thats just me.
I've had a few things happen, where i grew up in Minnesota and when we lived in Texas. Nothing earth shattering, lol, but interesting enough i guess.
Sometimes what i want to say doesnt come across as clearly as i like, and it is good the people here ask questions, thats the way it should be.

Criminey!

Must have gotten something in my eye... it's all wet...

This stuff is great...

Maggie... tennessee... if ya'll ever leave after having all of us to like ya'll so much...

I'll be crushed... seriously...

I still miss two wonderful people who were frequent posters here a while back... two very sincere and exceptionally good people... I do miss them so…

Not only did they have outstanding input to the discussions, but they also became friends... when they went into the woods, they told us prior, and we all enjoyed their sharing the experiences with us...

scout was enthusiastic about finding this elusive creature... and he went looking often... like a kid in a candy store looking for the hidden treasure... last time he posted, he was hot on the trail of something in the river bottoms that gave all indications of being very promising... he posted he was going out there again, alone... we have never heard from him since... I fear for his safety... but I don't even know who the hell he is... I never found that out... if he were here now, that would be different...

msfit 32 was apprehensive... she came here, and besides giving Fishbone35 a heart attack and probably a few nights of fitful sleep, she won all our hearts... her intensely intelligent and logical mind told her from all the evidence presented, there must be something to these "Bigfoot thingies"... she is a terrific athlete, and spent many hours in the mountains surrounding her Sierra Nevada home in pursuit of her fitness and enjoyment... it was difficult for her (I think) to accept the existence of this creature, in the beginning anyway... she was a staunch skeptic... we needed her badly in here... her last post was in the 50 Years fiasco thread... she received no reply to her post, but then, that happens sometimes... but I don't believe that's why she hasn't posted in a long while(since mid-Jan. I think)... but I hope she still visits... and dropping me a PM now and then so I can stop worrying about you wouldn't hurt either, girl... wink.gif

Those two can’t just leave without saying goodbye like that… but they did...

So what I'm saying, I guess, is that this place is much more than something like a bulletin board at the local grocery store... we are not all completely disconnected... I have formed friendships in here that I am certain will last my lifetime... I think I may not be alone in that regard...

I see this forum as having the potential for... well, you tell me...

Do you think we all have something to learn about Sasquatch?

Do you think this place can make a difference in people's lives, either by helping them to understand what they have experienced... something so powerful and overwhelming that it has shaken their very soul, or by helping them to understand their own fears regarding these creatures?

What good can come from a forum such as this? Can we change the world... or maybe even a small piece of it?

Can we build a foundation for the acceptance of this creature by the rest of the world, or at least, by those around us?

What we can do, what we want to do and what we will do... it all lies before us... the power for change is ours to grasp... let's just make sure we have a firm grip on this thing, it could be a wild ride...

And we need everyone to pitch in and do his or her part... and so far, we have… and I expect it to remain as such…

So far, I love what I see, and I am proud to be associated with such a fine team!

And if anyone thinks this forum means nothing… think again… just look around and see who posts in here… where else are you going to get this kind of interaction? And believe me, this forum is well known and is the envy of all other forums… that fact is undeniable.

But I know there are people who read and do not post… and that’s ok… but I often wonder what they are thinking… and wish they would join and share… well, most of them anyway!

So come, join, post, stay a while… and if you’re a jerk, you’ll soon leave, because no one here will play with you…

Oh stop pouting… you had your chance and you blew it! Twice!!! biggrin.gif

RB, that was .....poetic. And not to mention totally true. I have made friends on this and other forums. People who I would have never met if it wasn't for our common interest in this creature.

IMO, that is exactly what keeps alot of us coming back. It's real easy to do a search and find all these different sites that take reports, show blob shots, etc. But, what a RELIEF to find a site where honest, soul shaking experiences can be talked about without fear of being ridiculed or picked apart like coons after Thursday's garbage.

I often wonder as I read what all the fine people here have to say, what if I had not found this site? I can honestly say that IMHO, this site and the people here have helped me keep my sanity. It is very hard to describe to someone the earth shattering change that comes over your life when you have a sighting. And, I'm not sure that I would be able to cope as well if I didn't have you folks to talk to.

And, another thing that I am amazed by is that some of you say that you don't believe or that you are very sceptical that this creature even exists, yet, you are not beat to death by someone who does believe. That speaks massive volumes to me. By the way...thanks for listening.
