Hi,

The TLC (the learning channel) ran a show entitled Bigfoot today. It was probably the last half of the show I saw in May on the Travel Channel. I guess. Not a bad show, and "fair." The producers, unlike the Discovery Channel show, decided that they 1) couldn't reproduce the Patterson Film, and 2) realized that the Patterson Film is really good, one way or the other.

Moving to Eastern Idaho in a few weeks. Tetons, Gros Ventre Wilderness and Yellowstone. I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

May I suggest...

Courtesy of a link on BFRO's site.

I caught the same show myself this afternoon, Jon. I definitely liked the way that they attempted to recreate a bigfoot sighting and make it look authentic. The wildlife photographer, John Waters, was doing his best to make the event look realistic but no matter what, it still looked just like a guy in a gorilla suit.

Does anyone know when this programs expedition to Bhutan occurred? Also, do you feel as though this was a credible documentary? Since the Discovery networks recycle things FREQUENTLY I was amazed to say I had not seen this one before. The content was balanced so that the viewers could make their own opinion. The ending fascinated me with the "unknown" identification given to the hair sample found in the so-called "lair". I would love to know if there has been any follow-up to this program?

I live in Central Florida and have heard about the Skunk Ape phenomenon. However, mostly as the butt of a joke from a local radio station.

Thank you,

Michael S. Collins

PS - OOPS I posted this in the wrong area the first time - M (SORRY)

Hi there, welcome to the forum!! smile.gif

I have seen several different documentarys done on expeditions to Bhutan, Nepal, etc.

One was funded by a now deceased wealthy Texan businessman....that docum. showed researchers in the higher elevations finding nothing, but research. in the jungle finding a "nest" and collecting hair and droppings...I thought these came back as "unknown primate". My recollection could be wrong.

There are several ongoing projects or unupdated ones that I know of....including reports of a famous climber having been shown Yeti "skeletons" of a baby and mom....don't know about that because it's shrouded in secrecy and haven't heard anything new on it....

Lost me.....who IS Tom Slick???? A Bad Guy?????????? new_evil2.gif
bipto
Tom Slick is:

1) A cartoon race car driver from the late Sixties.
2) A rich guy from Texas who was obsessed with cryptids, especially bigfoot. Amazon has a book all about him.
msfit32
I will pass on the book, not THAT interested!!! laugh.gif

The documentary was done after whomevers death. What happened to the best of my recollection is someone/organization obtained permission to examine his collections of specimens and notes on the research done.....whomever this now deceased person was did NOT have DNA analysis done...this was a while back so perhaps that was not available. Anyway, the researchers who went through the evidence collected etc. had the hairs sent for analysis and the answer was unkown primate.

This is all from memory, so maybe I am way off here.

MsFit, I just bought a copy of that book you passed on so once I read it I will let you know if it is the same guy you saw the documentary on and will also let you know what else came of it.

I think Its the BFRO website that actually has bigfoot tv listings by typing in your zip
JonZ
The wild life photographer even admitted that his film sucked. And, it would be discovered immediately as a hoax. That takes a lot of professional honesty, something that is lacking in most professions.

Tom Slick, financed some Roger Patterson expeditions. I think he even was financing Roger Patterson when "the film" was shot.

If some one already mentioned that, sorry.

Take Care,

Jon
