Can anyone recommend what is popular as far as recording devices,Ive been looking at the small pocket recorders but im wondering what everyone else uses.And if I remember right I read something months ago on this site showing how to build one,does anyone know anything about that

Hmm. I would recommend going digital. The most economical/practical digital recorder is a portable MiniDisc recorder, plus a good cardioid microphone, or a parabolic one if you can afford it or want to build one.

The above are just some examples. However, going digital is definitely worth it, IMHO.

Thanks robo ill have to look into those,I could kick myself for not getting one a few months ago,I heard a strange vocalization similar to one on the sierra sounds cd and no equipment to record it.
