How long did it take them to investigate and finally post your report Le Bigefout? Did the investigatior actually call you? If so, how long did he talk?

Le Bigefout, this is not your report, correct? Just the first report from Quebec?

Congratulations! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Nothing wild or unbelievable there. That in itself makes it an interesting report.

It's a lot like my "not sure". Just a good footprint (although I had at least a dozen prints to see, and three were clear enough to convince me that it wasn't a bear).
Le Bigefout
Bonjour,

No DTK, this is not "my" sighting. Iv'e never had one, but it's the first reported on the web from Qc. (And trust me iv'e been surfing quite a lot, and in some weird wacko.gif sites!)

Never ever you get to hear about bf here, plus i'm an oenologist (wine-taster-seller?) And believe me, if i started talking about the subject with my collegues, i would be told to slow down on the Zinfandel...

Merci

Sorry, I thought it was your encounter. What a job! Wine taster! I hope they pay for you to have a designated driver!!

Salut Le Bigefout,
Interestingly there was another sighting in that "Outaouais" region, i think it was in the late ninetys, it was of a motorist having a road cross encounter, i saw it on Yvon Leclerc's site but its not listed anywhere else like most Québec sightings.
I could be wrong but im aware of at least twelve sightings in this province that are not documented with any type of organization, but of course some of them more or less credible.

This is very close to where I live. I don't think we can discount that the track could be human. I know it's a large one but that could be depending on conditions. I'm surprised that his grandfather has bigfoot stories as I've never heard an old guy talk about such a thing around here. I'd sure like to hear what that lad has to say and it's too bad we didn't hear more.

A good, credible sounding find for sure without embelishment. I wish he'd find this site so we could ask him more about his grandfather. Thanks for the post mes amis!

Salut le castor

I saw those "reports" from different web sites, they were not very convincing, Outaouais and Abbitibi-Témiscamingue could be potential bf territories.

Merci

Hey le Bigefout,

As I posted in another thread, I count not that many reports from Quebec, some of which not very credible.

Here's what I have so far:

3 sightings by fishermen at undisclosed locations (from John Green's Ape Among Us)
1971 Sherbrooke sighting
1975 Sherbrooke sighting
1979 St-Alexandre sighting
1985 Cadillac sighting
1998 Outaouais sighting
2001 Mont-Valin tracks
2001 Outaouais sighting
2003 Campbell's Bay tracks
2003 Kuujjuaq tracks

plus some other arguable UFO related (like the 1982 Ste-Dorothee sighting) or vocalization reports. What else have you heard of from "La Belle Province"?

Salut!
Larry K.
Le Bigefout
Salut LarryK!

"1971-1975 Sherbrooke sightings..."

Sherbrooke is my hometown, and trust me i'm having a hard time believing bf could roam around here...

I guess you've visited Alexandre Bilodeau's site Bigfoot au Québec...?

I don't heard about any other sightings than the ones you already know

Bonsoir!

p.s.: Ta signature est trop drôle!

Le Bigefout,

Now that we have some Francais speaking folks together.

Any of you fellas have the Heuvelmans book on BF and would like to attempt a translation into english. (sorry, couldn't resist) cool.gif

Back to subject... new_whistle.gif

Surprised Quebec doesn't have more reports, isn't much of the region still pretty forested?? smile.gif

Hey Wayne

Talking about this?

or this:

Sorry don't have either one handy sad.gif (but I read some excerpts of the first).

Guess you know that Heuvelmans got flamed because of his conclusions on Minnesota Ice Man.

True, Quebec has huge forested areas that could give shelter to BF

And I think we also meet Green's criteria i.e. 20 inches of rain (Well maybe not these days... 126 forest fires raging at the moment. One of the worst years since 1922).

Haven't found a good explanation yet for so little encounters. Any ideas out there? unsure.gif

Cheers all

Hi LarryK,

Yes, it's the first one. Been trying to get my hands on a copy to see if can get some translation going. Mainly to hear everything he had to say about the iceman. I've heard all these people blast the guy, but never been able to read the account for myself. icon_blob.gif

Anyway, i did get to visit Quebec City as a teenager with my parents. i get the idea that the region was a vast forested area favored by trappers.

i think the whole east coast has been in somewhat of a drought. Rained 3 times in the last month here?? new_thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

As far as BF goes, if they can inhabit the Balto. DC corridor, they can live anywhere! thumbup.gif

Hi Wayne,

Montreal's public library has 3 copies of it biggrin.gif

Heuvelmans notice

I'll try to get my paws on one (though I don't know if I still can because my "Borough" is now separated from the city of Montreal).

Stay tuned.

LarryK,

That's excellent! Hope you can check one out!! Don't think it has that many pages.

Thanks,
Wayne

Also, i hope alot more reports from Quebec start surfacing. Seems there aught to be tons of them.... ph34r.gif icon_blob.gif icon_blob.gif icon_blob.gif icon_blob.gif

You can't even begin to comprehend the wild and forested area that makes up the Province of Quebec. The towns and cities are just clearings in the bush!

Terry,

Maybe there are some being reported to the French speaking SAS and Crypto sites. Don't think much of the region cares much for English. At least that's what people told me years ago. sad.gif

Bonsoir everyone,

I often wonders why there is so little sightings here in Qc.

Nobody around me seems to know what a sasquatch is, that'a why it was my theory when i joined this board, that the whole bf phen. was cultural. Then again, who and where your average Joe or Jane (Jean or Jeanne here!) would go to if he/she had a sighting...?

N'est-ce pas Larry?

Bonsoir

Hey Terry, i grew up about three hours west of Thunder-Bay but now reside in Qc, north-western and north-eastern Ontario is also an ocean of standing timber.
boss_of_the_woods
What kind of terrain does it have,Quebec that is. Terry mentioned vast forest. A lot of lakes,streams.Mnt.ranges....etc. Just curious.

Thanks

Boss

p,s, any of you glad the strike(NHL) is over?

Oh Oui Boss!

My habs did not won the Sydney Crosby lottery but... sad.gif

I'm happy he will be playing with Mario le magnifique!

I can't wait for HNIC....Yeah! I live in Washington state but we get CBC. 4hrs of Canadian hockey its the best....

To stay on topic. How did you become interested in the sasquatch.

Peace,

Boss

p.s. Would you ever like a Leafs fan ohmy.gif
Le Bigefout
Hi Boss!

Like i said in a previous post,I became interested in bf when i was a kid reading Hergé's "Tintin au Tibet" It was a comic book dealing with the Yéti and i became hooked on crypto-primates since!

And as for liking a Leafs fan, of course i would! I woulld not have said that regarding a Nordiques fan a few years ago happy.gif

We have an on-going project going on over here to translate a whole stack of Heuvelmans books and manuscripts into English - be patient.

Salut Le Bigefout,

I agree that nowadays, there’s no resource to educate mom and pop Gratton and to collect and advertise BF info in Quebec. The 70's and 80's had their share of paranormal freaks that put UFOs, ghosts and BF in the same nauseating soup - especially on community tv. As cheapo as it was, it had the "advantage" of at least spreading the word around on BF (as marginal as BF coverage was). Now, I don't see/hear much about BF (except from Alexandre Bilodeau or Yvon Leclerc). Last time we heard something in the news, it was from the Monts-Valin in 2001.

That’s true, when I chat around, most people have not idea who Mr Sasquatch is. On top of it, Teslin and Norway House sightings, both in our Canadian backyard, were ignored by the local medias. Thanks Radio-Canada.

But I think the lack of activity is more than just a "cultural" or language thing. Even with no BF knowledge or resources, an average Jean would certainly find a way to report its encounter. I would (after having washed my underpants), especially if I was not alone. Let’s be pessimist here and say that only 30% would broadcast their story to the Journal de Montreal or another media. Now if you take B.C. reports from BFRO and compare them using that fudge factor to known reports from Quebec (the ones I listed earlier in this thread – including the probable hoaxes) we would still be short of a few ones to be up to par.

We have large unpopulated and densely forested areas. We have rain. We have marshes. We have plenty of vegetal/animal supplies in the wild. We have zillions of bodies of water. We have places named after the Windigo (like Ferme Neuve). We even have poutine. What else do we need??? I guess Quebec could be a decent BF playground. Maine, New York and Ontario seem to be. What is the problem with La Belle Province???

To me either BF roams to far north, or we are missing an essential ingredient to gel the BF pudding. I would like to believe in the first affirmation, but as I grow older I’m leaning more and more towards the second. What is the missing ingredient? I dunno.

A bientot!
Larry K.

P.S. Devrions nous inclure la grenouille a béret dans le bestiaire de cryptozoologie? Pas mal comique ton avatar.

P.P.S. Ex-Nordiques fan here, be careful wink.gif

BTW Le Bigefout, Terry and The Beaver,

Were you aware of this (I wasn't until recently. This stamp is from another age, when I could still afford em...):

T'was part of Canadian Legends collection, that included Sas' friends Agopogo, Kraken and Werewolf.

Cheers all,

Salut Larryk,

I hope the reason is bf lives too far north in the province for us in the south to be filled with reports.

p.s la grenouille est un clin d'oeil a mes origines françaises!

Hey, what's the idea with Canada anyway? Is bigfoot hair something new? Look at this:

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8704462/

No one has tested hair before suspected of belonging to a BF? The way it's reported, you would swear (depending on the results), they're going to prove BF by testing some hair! Hasn't that already been rejected as proof by scientists? I already know the answer to that - but it just shocks me that testing for BF hair would make any kind of a headline on MSNBC!

Edited to add: Hey, and they even have a poll asking if people believe there's such a thing as bigfoot - 58% believe there is such a thing as bigfoot.
larryk
Ilex,

Couldn't get a hand on "L'homme de Neanderthal est toujours vivant" up to now but I'm still working on it. BTW, it DOES have many pages, roughly 500.. BUT I have "Les betes humaines d'Afrique" handy and I'm just starting to go through it. Pretty heavy brick, 672 pages. I'm in a reading frenzy at the moment and I've been through (within the last 10 days or so)

1) the french translation of Dimitri Bayanov "In The Footsteps of the Russian Snowman" happy.gif
2) Jean Roche's "Sauvages et velus" new_thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif
3) "In search of Giants" and "Sasquatch Bigfoot, The continuing Mystery" by Thomas Steenberg sleep.gif
4) "My Quest for the Yeti" by Messner unsure.gif

BTW Le Bigefout, while reading some stuff from Steenberg, I began to ponder a little bit more on what I posted before. I may be doing a bit of projection on my fellow countrymen when I said that 30% of the average Jean would certainly come forward and recount their experiences. From Steenberg's reports, it seems to be very difficult to most to do just that, even under the cloak of anonymity.

Still I'm not convinced that the fear of ridicule/incomprehension + lack of ressources is enough to explain the Qc situation.

Salut
Larry K.

P.S. Just had my first downtown Montreal encounter of the furry kind yesterday night... a racoon! That %#$% sure freaked me out for the first few instants. laugh.gif
