WESTFIELD FEELS FEAR
Is Westfield just on edge, or is there really something out there that has prompted a wave of fear to roll through the county? If eyewitness reports and first-person sightings are any indication, Westfield has reason to be on alert. From mysterious odors to strange howls to large moving shadows, a substantial number of occurrences have been reported to the police department. With the ongoing search for Audrey Ryder, many fear that there is a connection between these ominous reports and her disappearance.

Wilson Palmer, Westbow Fresh Fry short-order cook, reported unusual howls coming from the woods behind the alley of the restaurant. A resident of Westfield for over 30 years, Palmer reported never having heard such a howl before and could not gauge whether it was more human- or beast-like. The "wailing", as some characterize it, is not restricted to the woods - Penny Fletcher reported hearing it from inside her house and Jason Donnelly, a Westfield Ribbon factory worker, heard it near the storage facility adjacent to the bowling alley on Ridge Road.

Jack Taylor, an underwriter for Westfield Mortgage, contacted police after seeing a large shadow pass behind his garage. As he advanced toward the shadow, he felt the ground shake and saw the shadow retreat into the woods that border his property. Under the circumstances, he felt it necessary to notify the police despite knowing his report might trigger disbelief and skepticism.

In addition to the moving shadows and the howls, few Westfield residents can deny the putrid odor that has just begun to taint the fresh mountain air. Attempts to locate its source have proved futile. The smell reportedly drifts from one location to another and is unable to be accurately traced.

While many remain skeptical, the fact remains that one Westfield resident is missing - and that is reason enough to be aware and take caution.

Clever -yes. But not very original. The makers of The Blair Witch Project did this years ago - months before the movie was even talked about. I remember stumbling upon the website and thinking it was all real - a brilliant concept, really.

Speaking of Blair Witch - I can't believe no one's done a Bigfoot-type version yet - shot on tape in that cinema verite style. Wait a minute - I've got a pretty nice camcorder!

hmmm.......

Anyone out there have a Bigfoot costume for sale cheap? Maybe I'll give Heironimus a call - I bet he's got Patty lying around in the attic .... wink.gif

Its a promotion for Perettie's book "MONSTER" by the way the book is awsome! a must read for all bigfooters
bigstinkyfoot
I thought "Monster" was a very good read. Very well written. Even though I may not agree with all of his ideas on sasquatch behavior, it does suck you in. His charactor development is pretty well thought out, giving you just enough about each charactor to fill in the blanks, and identify with them yourself, or substitute someone you know.

Okay guys! This is only a book and not based on a true story, right? I saw the website for the book and it gave a link for a "family" website and it just looked real to me although I wasn't finding any major news organizations covering it. Man, what a gimic!

Relax, Laurie. It's only a book, fiction. Pretty good one, though.

Whoever did their ad should also do a movie. Has there even been any good bigfoot movies? I saw one recently about a father looking for his daughter (plane had crashed) and I wasn't impressed. My imagination is a whole lot better then that movie was. Maybe it was the acters.

I agree, Laurie. My imagination, too, is better. Somehow, I believe in this case, truth is more interesting than most of the fiction that is out there as well. I hope someone does make a movie out of the book. Hopefully it will be a little less lame than most. I will probably plop down my 40 bucks (after a2 tickets, popcorn and soda) anyway, just because it is BF.

This book has to be tons better then the episode of MacGyver I watched today. The episode was about sasquatch/bigfoot and as I was watching it - I was reminded why I quit watching MacGyver soon after it started as a new program. I swear, watching the character MacGyver and all his time-consuming and frustrating tricks up his sleeve was a bit more then I could handle. As it turns out - it was a fake sasquatch/bigfoot and with one quarter of the show left to watch - I changed the channel pronto! The only thing I can say about Dean Anderson is - he grew up in our neighborhood right across the street (before I lived around here), and I think he's a real cutie. Someone needs to do a neat bigfoot movie - heck someone needs to do a lot of neat bigfoot movies. Everyone write to Steven Speilberg.
