Bigfoot (A&E DVD Archives) - Leonard Nimoy
QUOTE(Amazon Review)
This dvd had some interesting information from Dr. Grover Krantz and Peter Byrne who gave the documentary a serious perspective. There was good information about Native American artwork and other items which depict an ape-like creature, which gives credible evidence for the possibility that a secretive primate might exist in North America. There were also accounts of alleged bigfoot encounters. The sound effects were very good. I have loaned the DVD to many individuals and they also enjoyed this documentary. If you can buy a used DVD this is a good buy. This is the best documentary that I have seen, although I have not yet seen Discovery Channel's "Legend Meets Science".

I notice on a certain website that "Sasquatch Odysessy: The Hunt for Bigfoot" and "Sasquatchin" were both listed as better than this DVD. I whole heartedly disagree. These latter DVDs are a circus act and way over priced.

Sasquatch Odyssey: The Hunt for Bigfoot
QUOTE(imdb.com)
This humorous film poses fundamental questions about the origins of man, while reveling in the sub-culture which surrounds the Bigfoot mystery. This is the story of the hunt for Bigfoot and the four old-men who have been searching for the elusive, mythical creature for the last 40 years. Inspired by the discovery of Yeti (abominable snowman) tracks in Nepal in the early 1950's, followed by giant footprints in Northern California in 1958, these young adventurers set out to find an animal which science said didn't exist. Originally, working together on the Pacific Northwest Bigfoot Expedition of 1960-62 while funded by a Texas oil millionaire named Tom Slick - these four men began never-ending rivalry and a life-long quest to find this creature.

Rocky Mountain Bigfoot
QUOTE(Amazon)
Shot by a 5-time Emmy-winner and his intrepid crew, this new 1-hour documentary is a thinking-person's look at one of the most fascinating animals of the American West: bigfoot. This fresh look at the species includes unprecedented access to the nation's top bigfoot researcher (a respected university biologist); detailed examinations of key sightings; and a unique expedition deep into the Rocky Mountain wilderness--to the exact location of a famed encounter.

This new production reveals compelling evidence from the labs of Prof. Jeff Meldrum of Idaho State University. Meldrum documents hair samples, fingerprint evidence, behavior studies, and even historical data supporting the creature's existence. Plus, Meldrum explains why many parts of the interior Rockies are possible bigfoot habitat.

The film also includes surprising comments from nationally-recognized author and skeptic Michael Shermer. Even though Shermer makes a living discounting myths, he tells the filmmakers that bigfoot's existence is actually a possibility.

The filmmakers travelled to the exact locations of several key sightings--with the actual eyewitnesses--to recount their stories. In addition to chronicling the accounts, the documentary team systematically evaluated and deconstructed the sightings. The team also mounted a major scientific expedition deep into the Idaho wilderness--to purported bigfoot hotspot--gaining surprising new insights into the bigfoot phenomenon.

Ancient Mysteries: Bigfoot (1994) (VHS only)
QUOTE(Amazon review)
Unless you can obtain a copy of "The Mysterious Monsters," the 1975 Sunn Classic Pictures documentary -- hosted by Peter Graves -- that introduced the Patterson-Gimlin footage of Bigfoot at Bluff Creek, California, this documentary is about as good an introduction to Bigfoot as you will find. This video does contain the famous Patterson footage, as well as remarks by the late Dr. Grover Krantz, and the retired Peter Byrne, two of the most (in)famous Bigfoot researchers ever.

The video is broken into five "acts." Act 1 describes the history of bigfoot, citing such individuals who have recorded large, hairy creatures as Leif Erikson, Teddy Roosevelt, 19th-century missionaries in the Rocky mountains, and relevant Indian tribes. Act 2 is devoted to the Patterson footage. Acts 3, 4 and 5 describe the international interest in the creature, and also include some video footage taken by two men who were trying to capture Bigfoot on video. Did they? I will admit that their footage of two distinct eyes peering at them from a shadowy copse is intriguing and quite creepy. It is not, however, anything compared to Patterson's footage.

If you are interested in Bigfoot documentaries, there really is not much available these days. Some claim that the best documentary ever made was The Mysterious Monsters, but you may have difficulty finding it (although it IS available. Use your Internet imagination and see where it leads you).

Keeping the Watch Bigfoot Researcher Documentary (2006)
QUOTE(Amazon Product Description)
This film is about the everyday people involved in Bigfoot Research. These are their words and stories, not mine. This film was produced to let the viewer decide about their work, not for me, the producer, to convince the viewer of their veracity. I think you will find it compelling. Lately, major media producers have been having a field day at the expense of the people involved in researching Bigfoot and other phenomenon. These producers seem to have an agenda to discredit these researchers. This trend plus a bad experience when I was invited as tech support with a well known Bigfoot Organization that (in my opinion) blatantly took advantage of the people who went on their "expedition" inspired me to produce this film. I will allow my viewers to make up their minds about these people, and the mystery of Bigfoot. There is nothing in this film but the pure essence of those who were interviewed. No agenda, no spin, no prompting, no trickery on my part...just the facts as these people see them. There is also NO hired skeptic waiting to discount these people's opinions and make them appear foolish. I GUARANTEE you will be pleased with this offering. If you are not satisfied, I will refund your fees including shipping within 7 days.

Squatching/Journey Toward Squachdom - Scott Herriot (aka Yetifan)
QUOTE(Amazon Product Description)
(Both docs. are now on one DVD) Scott Herriott is in his mid-forties and he believes in Bigfoot. In 1992, he feels he came within 40 feet of one of these beings. There was video involved. Yes, it is in the film. He was interviewed on both A&E's "Ancient Mysteries" and "Sightings" about what happened to him. A couple of years ago he decided to go on mini-expeditions with people he'd met over the years who have shown an interest in the phenomenon - believer and skeptic alike. And therein lies the film. Scott visits with: William Dranginis - a man who claims to have had a direct encounter with a Bigfoot. This event inspired him so much that he put together a gizmo-laden motorhome chockful of the latest in electronic surveillance equipment. Mark Thompson - This rich uber-geek joins Scott on an aerial quest in his state-of-the-art helicopter to test out a hypothesis. Ed "The Surf Guru" Marques is an actor and comedian who ventures up to classic Squatch territory with Scott in NW Calif. to visit museums, drink beer and get scared at night by something rustling in the leaves. Plus, Scott and his parents at a remote fire lookout and a visit to the annual Texas Bigfoot Conference (including appearances by Loren Coleman and Dr. John Bindernagel) round out the film. And oodles more. Scott has hosted, reported and produced for the likes of PBS, TechTV, and CNN. He hosted "Internet Tonight" on TechTV where he won a Northern California Emmy for best host of an entertainment program. This seriocomic documentary is a must for anyone who loves wry humor with their Sasquatchery. "Journey Toward Squatchdom" had the late great Sasquatch seeker Rene Dahinden describe it as "the funniest god damn thing on Bigfoot I've seen." Nick Redfern of Phenomena magazine calls it "monumentally funny". "Journey Toward Squatchdom" goes from onsite inspections in classic Bigfoot country to visits with some of the more fringier Bigfoot seekers. A must for any Squatch enthusiast.

Sasquatch Hunters (aka Primeval)
QUOTE(Amazon Review)
This is about some archaeologists who, guided by some forest rangers, hike back into the mountains to investigate some odd bones that they have in their museum. The bones were brought in by some trappers who lived in the area many years ago. Overall, these folks are a very likable bunch. Some of the acting is a tad cheesy, and one guy is prone to speaking in a monotone, but I'm so used to watching low budget movies where I couldn't care less if everyone gets killed (half the time I'm cheering for them to die in some horrible way), that I was impressed that I actually cared about these folks and didn't want to see them get killed.

Once in the mountains, they discover some burial mounds and dig up the bones of, yup, you guessed it, Sasquatch! Well, turns out the Sasquatch don't like people messing with their graveyard, and a night of terror ensues. I really liked this part of the movie, all the cheesiness is gone and it gets very serious. It's done quite well, with nice night photography in the forest, good theme music, good dialogue, and good performances from the actors. I remember when I was in the Cub Scouts and the counselors told a scary story around the campfire, then somebody jumped out of the trees and we all scattered. Being little kids, we fell for it hook line and sinker. This part of the movie brought back memories of that. Yes, the CGI Sasquatch do look pretty bad in certain scenes, but overall I'd say they look good. It allows them to be very large and move quickly, a nice change from the usual guy in a suit that, because of the bulky suit, looks hilarious trying to keep up with his intended victims.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to lovers of low budget movies. You even get a busty babe taking a shower in a bikini.

Legend of Boggy Creek (1973)
QUOTE(imdb.com)
A documentary-style drama which questions the existence of a monster in an Arkansas swamp. It is really more of a glimpse at lower-class swamp culture from the seventies, though, than a monster flick.

An early 1970's docu-drama about a Sasquatch-type creature that terrorized the small town of Fouke, Arkansas for several years. Many of the persons who claim to have experienced these events actually played themselves in this movie version. The film had a big premiere in Fouke, but failed to capture the attention of the movie going public in the rest of the U.S.

Bigfoot: The Unforgettable Encounter (1994)
QUOTE(imdb.com)
This is one of my favorite titles from the "Bigfoot Genre". It features some great acting by some underrated actors. David Rasche is wonderfully evil as the money-hungry Chaz Fredrick, his ambition to capture Bigfoot and place the creature on display reminds me of real-life millionare Tom Slick. Rance Howard (Ron Howard's brother) plays Fredrick's clueless and loveable sidekick account. I especially like the part where Howard discusses the "Bigfoot escrow account" with the townspeople.

Zachery Ty Bryan could have been better, in fact, I think he failed to connect with Bigfoot, and instead treated the legendary creature as a guy in a suit. Bigfoot himself was too comical in this movie. I was hoping for a slightly more violent creature, especially when he gets captured. Also deserving acclaim is Matt McCoy, who plays Ranger Nick Clifton.

They Call Him Sasquatch (2003)
QUOTE(imdb.com)
From the moment this movie kicked off, it spiraled into the atmosphere of the makings of the best movie I've ever seen on the small screen. Filled with excitement, humor, drama, and all the attributes of a wonderfully crafted film, this movie creeps second by second as the tension builds as the ever foreboding sasquatch comes closer to the zany cast and crew of this feature film. They Call him Sasquatch is the best movie to be released solely on DVD, never to bridge the gap into the silver screen stardom. The music in this movie just adds to the excitement and pleasure that this film has brought into my home. I enjoyed it, and so will you and your loved ones. Go out and order your own copy, for you will not find this on any shelf.

Amazing Film, Amazing acting, movie for the ages.

Scream of the Sasquatch (2006)
QUOTE(Amazon)
Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, a mysterious, hairy, apelike beast is rumored to dwell. It stands nearly eight feet tall, walks like a man, and weighs over six hundred pounds. The American Indians feared and respected it. They called it Sasquatch. Frank VanderSchmidt and Ron Warren both know this beast. They've been tracking it for years. Ron wants to photograph it to prove to science that it exists so that it can be protected and studied. Frank wants to kill it. To him, Sasquatch is simply the ultimate trophy. Both men are driven by a maniacal determination that borders on obsession. And in the hunt for the elusive Sasquatch, they risk losing everything - even their minds. This film follows Frank and Ron through the forests of Oregon and Washington during the summer of 2006. It's an adventure you'll never forget.

Curse of Bigfoot
QUOTE(Amazon)
Convincing his students of the existence of strange creatures known as Sasquatch, or "Bigfoot" to most Americans. All that changes when a guest speaker enters the scene: another teacher, who took several students on an archeological field trip years ago. During that trip, the group had an encounter with a beast so horrifying, that three of the students were literally driven mad. Was it Bigfoot? You decide... Curse of Bigfoot is one of a handful of inexpensive, quickly-made movies from the 1970's which were intended to cash in on the Sasquatch craze - so bad, it becomes quite entertaining in it's awfulness. Apparently pieced together from two (or more!) separate projects, with atrocious acting, leaden pacing, a threadbare plot, and $1.98 monster makeup, there's something here for every "bad movie" lover enjoy.

Sasquatch Mountain (aka Devil on the Mountain)
QUOTE(Amazon review)
A fairly decent Sci Fi film about Bigfoot. Or more appropriately, about the people dealing with Bigfoot. This is not a gorefest but rather a throw back to the old idea of running from the unknown and focusing on the characters a bit more.

The "King" Lance Henriksen is back in another sasquatch role and judging it by that standard, it is the best lance Henriksen Sasquatch film so far! Nice to see him being human rather than a robot. The guy is a good actor. So are Craig Wasson, Michael Worth and a few others in the cast. A nice looking film directed by Steven R. Monroe (Left In Darkness). I have seen it ripped on a lot online, but I have to say, much of the critisism was that Cerina Vincent wasn't naked or that Bigfoot wasn't killing enough people. Shows the criteria that is important to some. But, that is actually what I liked about it (not that nudity would have killed it....). I went in expecting something cliche and it surprised me there. Better written and acted than most in this genre.

It seems there is a featurette on the DVD but unfortunately, no commentary has been listed which would have made it an instant buy. Either way, a decent low budget flick on the Squatch.
