as of the research i did for this post we have had over 100600 views of 2343 posts for the manitoba subject et all. what if anything does this mean. i have done my share by looking and posting as we all have.does this mean we are desperate? are we just addicted to all things sasquatch or are we looking so hard for any picture video hair body part or miniscule particle of evidence to advance the search for vindication for believing.

i guess i am asking what is your thoughts as to why a video of unknown quality, untill last week, got so much attention? was it our desperate hope of actual viewable film to say i told you so? and after its release the 2 inch pixlised figure didnt slow down the ferver.

for me it is the search for evidence. i have to admit due to my disability i very seldome get out much ,and when i do it isnt for very long.but it is also an almost unbridled hope to stick it to some unbelievers i do this. i know, if there is a body, there will still be some who will say it is a freak of nature or a government attempt to confuse the world about some wierd project. we have those who think aliens shape shifters ufo time travlers and interdimensial time gremlins are the answer to the bigfoot question and after the ultimate proof they will still be here.so for some there will be no believing what so ever.

i still get almost giddy everytime i hit enter on my browser to come here and other bigfoot sights and news places. so, for me, any chance to catch a sight of this thing we call bigfoot is a passion and i will follow any such stuff till it plays out.the words "bigfoot on film or bigfoot pics" and the like still excite me so i search it out

what say you. wdo you do it. why did you do it. did you do it.do the manitoba thing that is.

It isn't just members who've been visiting that thread, but--I suspect--outsiders. (The moderators should have data that would support or invalidate my supposition.) If so, this high visitation level is an indicator of a strong subterranean popular desire for Bigfoot to be real. More important, it's a hint that there would be an explosion of popular interest in the topic if confirmation occurred, supporting Perez's theory that, to the public, "It would be as big as the moon landing."

Once again, Roger, I think you've got things pegged pretty well.

The "officials" don't seem to lend sasquatchery much creedence, but I think lots of other folks do.

I've been wondering about this, as well. I didn't feel the slightest twinge of excitement when news of this video came out because I knew in all probability it would be worthless and I wasn't about to get my hopes up. I was a little curious as to why everyone else got so excited.
RogerKni
Guy: Not everybody, just those who posted. (I should have put up a poll then asking how strong people thought the video would be, so we'd have an estimate of how many got over-excited.) And there were those who hedged their bets, or who made moderate predictions. I, for instance, said (approximately), "It'll be a single, not a foul ball or a home run." And I think I may yet have the last laugh, in a month or two, after comparison video-shots have been made from the site, and after photo analysts have worked out Blobby's height from that, or established the pattern of its lower-leg lift. Loren Coleman yesterday posted a similar wait-and-see assessment on his Yahoo-group Bigfoot e-mail list. (What's the short name for those things anyway?)

I also made the point that it isn't as important from a scientific standpoint to have a detailed image (like the PGF), but an authenticating detail, even though the film is blurry. The creature in the PGF lacks that authenticating detail--great height--so if Blobby has it (which we don't know yet), plus the effectively inimitable Level Lower Leg Lift, he "hits a single." An analogy is to the 4-second video of the Ivory Bill. It didn't matter to scientists that the image was brief and blurry, but that in one freeze-frame they could clearly see the unique and authenticating color pattern on the wings. A longer and clearer video that didn't include a shot of that pattern would have had little persuasive power, however thrilling it might be to Ivory Bill Believers.

I think I'm going to refer to the "Level Lower Leg Lift" as the LLLL Test (or Clue), or the 4L Test, in the future.

Good point Texan.

But wait a minute! It wasn't in the mainstream media, and so most non-BFers wouldn't have been aware of it until ACA broadcast the Clip. And even after it had been shown, most of the population was unaware. So it's quite possible that contikipaul only heard of this a few days ago, after the broadcast. But anyway, if that's the case, he should say so.

Hmmm... venturing deeper into the hall of mirrors, let's say his account is true. Then his not mentioning that he only recently became aware of Clarke's Clip would indicate (to me anyway) that he is genuine, because a smart hoaxer would have forestalled Texan's objection with the phrase, "I've just learned of this video."

OTOH, many a genuine claimant would have said the same phrase. And perhaps a REALLY sophisticated BS-er would omit that phrase, anticipating that his audience would reason as I did in the paragraph above.

Isn't Roger's post above supposed to be in the 'Manitoba - a warning' thread in response to this post? Either that or these really ARE good drugs. laugh.gif

I just don't see how that's possible? We had witnesses to the video saying you could determine the subject’s hair length, skeptics saying they are now believers, family members saying it was 6" tall on a big screen TV. BC seemed(s) real credible.

I have seen what you people can do with stills and could not help but get excited with the possibility that this would provide further proof of BF existence. I didn't expect it to be the end all, slam dunk, the creature exists type of evidence. But I was excited!!!

I realize there have been lots of red herrings in the pursuit of BF and veterans of the field can't help but be jaded, but to not feel "the slightest twinge of excitement" is just unbelievable to me.....No offense....

None taken. I just don't have the patience of others, I guess. I quickly get bored with something when it remains at the same level for too long. After all the blurry photographs and such (it's been - what? - thirty odd years since the last good film was taken of bogfoot) I just got to where anytime someone claims to have good evidence for bigfoot my response is sort of a weary, "yeah, yeah, I bet you do." It's sort of like all the junk e-mail I get promising me excellent interest rates, quick wealth, and true love. After all the promises that turned out to be empty, I just don't have the energy to get excited anymore.

Cool, I have been hoodwinked a couple of times since lurking/viewing this site. So I can uderstand how that could develop. I guess I am just not there yet!! (a couple more Manitoba videos could push me in that direction!)

People were phoning me and emailing.. asking ..did you hear the latest? Then go on to tell me something that I already knew, at that time, for over a day, ! And these are people who are in the know about Sasquatch events.
I would tell everyone.......if you want to hear the latest cutting edge news in the Sasquatch/Bigfoot Community..then come to the BFF! If they are not talking about it there..then it is not worth knowing, in all likelihood.
What you witnessed..what we all witnessed is not so much excitement about a possible sighting.....but about the power of this forum!
This will not be an isolated event! You will see the same turnout from now on..everytime something of major newsworthiness happens!
This forum is much more a reflection of the people then it will ever be about Sasquatch.

To me - this the thread was like talking to your friends about the latest sports news. Nothing else to talk about - so we talked about the new video. If you look at a lot of the posts - they were either informing people of what was new - or discussing what others had said.
That does not mean excitement or belief - that just means there was an interesting conversation going on.

I checked it out because I'm a sucker for Sasquatch, guitars and pretty women(not in any particular order). I'll get excited anytime there's any footage. Odds are it will suck of course, or be an obvious fake if history teaches us anything, but then again, you never know.. We need something new as good as the 1967 Bluff Creek film.

Um..... I ain't no math wiz but I'll take a shot.

1/4 of a million= 250,000

1783 registerd members divided by 3 years= 594 members per year average

250,000 divided by 594= 420

420 years till 250,000 members????? We're gettin there! new_lmaosmiley.gif
