"Why you guys have to hype it up so much? geez.."

God forbid anything is hyped. What's wrong with hype? What's wrong with getting your hopes up and letting them fall? That's life. Why play the lotto? Why invest in the stock market? Why get up everyday and hope that maybe today an opportunity will arise and you'll take a chance or a blind leap of faith. Maybe you'll fall flat on your face. Oh well. Maybe you won't. Maybe people want to believe in something, even though deep down they know it's just a crazy pipe dream. Who cares? People believe, people want to believe, and take risks, all because of the possibility--as remote as it may be--that just maybe this one time there will be a favorable outcome.

To say that "hype" and blind faith, and taking risks, and believing in the unbelievable, and searching for the unkown, and expecting what may be unrealistic are characteristics of a foolish person is an insult to all those who have placed their personal and professional reputations on the line and taken this quest seriously--indeed perhaps even dedicated their lives to the search.

Sure, one can argue that we should just learn from others' mistakes or even one's own past mistakes, such as when new alleged photos or films arise. Sure, it's easy to be a quiet bystander or a naysayer or a pessimist. And there's certainly nothing wrong with that. But there's no more shame in being an optimist or taking a gamble. And there's no more merit in putting down those who viewed a situation from a different perspective with different expectations.

"What? A new video? Good luck, it's fake."

Yeah maybe. Or maybe not.

Furthermore, we're talking about finding bigfoot here, folks, not curing AIDS. Nobody gets hurt if we "screw up". Oh no, what a terrible blunder! Bobby's clip was a little blobby-poo! That greedy Bobby just raked in 250 trillion dollars and he fooled us all! Shame on all of us for being so damn gullible and high-hoped! Rats!

Please. I'm not disappointed in the clip. Is it as good as I hoped? No. Is it worse than my lowest expectation? Not at all. The "hype" was the compilation of various opinions, expectations, and quite a few very thoughtful investigatory insights. The only thing being hyped here is how we keep talking about how it was hyped.

So for those who have been so wise as to not have been thwarted by yet another crafty "caught on tape" ploy (and have not hesitated to let everyone know of it), please be patient with the rest of us, and while you're at it, why not pull the sticks out of your collective asses, stop lamenting over what a terrible waste of bandwidth this has been (trust me, there's more of it out there, I just checked), and lighten up. The Manitoba ordeal thus far has been fun and educational, will continue to be fun and educational, and who knows where the adventure will take the Bigfoot Community next. I learned a lot, and expect to learn more. Unless you've done a full analysis on the entire clip and tore it up from all conceivable angles like the PG film, no one is in any position to say what it is or is not at this point. Period.

Getting there is half the fun. Enjoy it.

I agree with what you say thumbup.gif , but I will object to the death your starting a new thread to say it! new_thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

IMO.....well said!!

Let me preface this by saying that I value everyone's opinion here and really appreciate the effort put into the various aspects of the research on BF.

It seems as though the naysayers were actually happy that this turned out to be a blurry mess? That just baffles me. I thought we were here to gather information and help solve this mystery. The "I told you so" mentality is prevelant throughout some of the posts made, it makes me icon_bang.gif

Every indication from those who saw the video at first were that it was the real deal, you could make out hair lenght and such. How is that not something to get "hyped" about?

So throw your pie and have your fun......I am terribly let down by what we have seen thus far, and can only hope that more can come of this.

Everyone likes to be right and in the realm of Bigfoot proof, it's almost always a forgone "win" to be on the "this is going to disappoint...this is going to be a blob" side.

Some day another real deal film will show up...someday!!!

 I agree, Sachmo!

Some of us are eternal optimists, and that's why we're here anyway. We wonder if there is something "out there" and we want to discuss it with people who don't judge us.

I have a healthy dose of skepticism. Just because I wanted to talk about this particular film doesn't make me a fool, it just means I'm curious. Nothing to apologize for, in my opinion.

One blurry blob doesn't erase all the hundreds of other sightings that have catalogued, and some of them even in Manitoba.

Still, it is a film of something - the "what" remains to be seen.

I am hoping ACA with their upcoming "follow-up" didn't lead off with their best piece of footage and "maybe, just maybe" the best is yet to come. The hype around the footage (being able to see hair and details) was far from what was shown on ACA apparently. (ACA doesn't air in my part of the country) 2 + 2 isn't adding up to 4 in what was said about the footage and what was actually presented. Something appears to be amiss.

In short, I hope for the best, but expect disappointment that way I'm not crushed when/if my hopes aren't realized. smile.gif

Roger, admittedly, I meant for it to go in as a response in another thread but at the last minute started a new one only because I did not wish for the original to be pulled far off topic.
