I recently got back from spending a week in a cabin up there. I saw deer skulls, a spine and jawbone and plenty of bear tracks but nothing to do with Sasquatch as far as I know.

Beautiful country though.
SASTUOLCO
It is nice country. My brother in low came upon a good track way in the area 2 years ago. And it has a good history of sightings/occurances over the years. We plan to bait three differant locations during the summer (all summer and fall) Along
with vocals. On and off during the period. Hope to get some good cast before he snow hits this coming fall. I will keep you posted

Hey SASTUOLCO, DFoot, and Gojira! I know I've talked with Gojira before, but the rest of you may not know that I'm Kathy Moskowitz and I live in Tuolumne County! It's a great place to bigfoot! If you are planning on baiting and blasting, I'd highly recommend that we coordinate so we aren't working in the same areas! PM me!

What kind of bait are you going to be using? What will you be blasting?

Herring Creek isn't open yet...the gate is still closed. We don't expect many roads to be open until Memorial weekend, and some even later than that!

SASTUOLCO,
My son and I along with some friends had some very interesting experiences in Tuolumne last summer. I am planning on spending some time up there in July when school is out. I've talked to some people about getting together again. I'm always looking for people to work with. PM me or I'll pm you. Good luck! cool.gif

Gate still closed???????? Well I know you work for the FS so I dont want to be to harsh. But I have a real problem with how they keep these roads locked up all the time. Anyway lets get together soon our baits will consist of fruits and vegables primarily.

Sadly the gates are most likely closed to protect the idiots from themselves.

I can't wait to hear about something in nor cal. I live in Sacramento and spend a decent amount of time up highway 88 during deer season.

The gates stay closed until the roads are safe to drive on. You can always walk in, but we are required by law to only allow the public to drive on roads that are safe for vehicle travel. Trust me...we get some people who get stuck on roads with too much snow, cause surely their vehicles can make it, and then we spend tax dollars going in to save them....then we spend more tax dollars repairing the road they damaged trying to get out!

LOL laugh.gif Yes you are so right having lived in the county for 38 years I have pulled many a stuck vehicle out of snow drifts. And I do understand that the roads can get badly damged when they are still so wet. Ok we need to get together and discuss so we dont get in each others way. How about a coordianted effort. cool.gif I ve no dont we can get some good cast before snow hits this fall. You have my cell call me anytime Kathy

Hey, just got back in town. Are the gates open yet? I was wondering with the hot spell last weekend. cool.gif
Hitechhunter
More snow expected down to 5000ft or lower this week. Very heavy runoff now (Yosemite valley flooded).
socaldave
Hitechhunter, thanks for the update. Probably won't get up there till early July but was wondering if anyone was going to do some early recon. cool.gif
sagehunter
Sastuolco and i were up there over the weekend everything is still closed. Lots of water and snow it's gonna be at least till the end of the month if not well ointo june
SASTUOLCO
socal let me know when you will be in the county and we will meet you fro some good bigfooting
Hitechhunter
I'm going out next Wednesday in Calaveras County (next county north of Tuolumne). We'll be cruising the snow/mud line logging roads in two jeeps looking for prints, etc.
Hairy Man
We don't except any gates to be open until Memorial weekend and many others not until June. Most campgrounds have 6 feet of snow, and our only option is to let it melt (can't plow due to tables, bbq's etc.). We won't be out bigfooting until at least June, and then only in the lower elevations. Oh well...at least we've met our water requirements for the next few years!
Hitechhunter
Hey HM, How's it going? Wednesday well be cruising around the 4500-5500 ft level. You would think that a large animal like Sasy would want to be near the snow line where there is browse, etc. available, and not up where there's a 20ft base! Maybe we'll find sign within the muddy logging road system as opposed to the roadless high country during the summer. I can cover a lot more ground ina jeep than on foot! Alpine Lake area seems to be a bit of a minor hot spot, maybe they migrate down the drainages during the winter.
Hairy Man
I would travel along the roads just below the snow line...see if you can find some tracks. I believe that he hangs out below the snow and moves up and down the terrain based on snow (due to lack of food). We don't get a lot of action near Lake Alpine, but there aren't as many people over there either. Let me know if you find anything!
SASTUOLCO
Hi Kathy,
So did you make it up to Humbolt this week? If so, how did it go? We took the three mile hike into the Punch Bowl last week. Parked at the gate. Still a few good drifts across the road. The south facing slopes are looking good but still alot of snow north facing. Also took a swing down around hells half acre. Checked the drainages in the area with no good results. I think your right about the snow line I believe that any BF in the area are in the Stanislaus river canyon or camp blue area. Ill keep you posted. You have my cell # so give me call so we cna coordiante our efforts this summer new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I would like say a complimentry word to those in Tuolumne County for co-operating, rather than everyone going their own way. This should be a model for others who are Bigfooting. At least these people will be able to rule out cross-contamination in tree knocking and call blasting by talking to each other.
socaldave
I agree with you Bill. Cooperation is the key along with respecting the integrity of the area being studied. I will be going up in early July and have been in contact with others in the area. Any Tuolumne field people pm me if you might be interested in sharing some field time with Jake and I in that time frame. cool.gif

Well everybody, I've pm'ed and emailed several people and haven't gotten any replies. Like to meet everyone and coordinate some things. Please contact me so I can get an idea of everyones availability or unavailabilty. My son and I are planning on being in the Tuolumne area from July 5-10. So whether you can spend an afternoon or a few days pm me so we can set up rendezvous points as we may be shifting camping areas as evidence(hopefully) presents itself. cool.gif
