There's a new series starting next Friday on SciFi, called "Scare Tactics." Its all about people setting up their friends to be scared to death, and I thought it sounded stupid and had no intention of watching it UNTIL I saw more previews last night, and it looks like one of the segments features a bunch of people being scared s***less by a staged BF encounter!
I know we shouldn't be encouraging this type of thing, and it'll only go further to enforce the "BF as savage bloodthirsty monster" image, but jeez, it looks like it'll be a lot of fun to watch for the entertainment value
For those interested, it starts next Friday the 4th at 10:00 pm (following Tremors the series, which is pretty entertaining in itself, from what I saw before I zonked out on the couch last night!)

Like you said Stacy
it gets entertaining. but you worry a bit what the general public's perceptions of it is. But considering that the trip to discovery is long I wouldn't get too concerned.
Gotta have fun too.

Heh. Pretty funny. I'm actually surprised the girl wasn't more scared.. when they told her it was a joke, she was just like "Oh, ha ha." I would have been traumatized!

BTW - The clip is in Quicktime format, so you might have to download the plugin to get it to work (from here:

Looks like a good way to cause a heart attack or get your ass shot off!!!
I guess they used kids because us older folks would have probably keeled right over.

Just sat thru "Scare Tactics"... IMHO that show won't be on for long. Had some entertaining vailue but overall not really scary or funny. Nice premise for the BF and alien stories but still a cruddy little show.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I wasn't terribly impressed either. The BF and the alien one they opened with were entertaining but the rest really wasn't.
I LOVED the alien costume though, and the lighting. They really did a great job with that one!

I liked the last one with the hitchhiker, he got his butt whooped! LOL
I think they should have taken them all a whole lot farther (except that last one as somebody would have gotten hurt), it wasn't particularly interesting and I don't think it will last long either.

They showed the bigfoot attacking the camper(s) on the Maury show this morning. The producers said this segment had produced the most feedback from viewers.

They are just starting to show "Scare Tactics" up here in Alberta. I watched it last night. I have to agree with deppup, I don't think the show is gonna last that long. JMO

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting really fed up with this sort of cheap TV
we are just about to start our fourth tedious season of 'Big Brother' here in the UK - it has the effect of ensuring that I don't watch two TV channels, but it isn't just the TV, it is all the associated media that goes with it.
I don't know if you have an equivalent over there, but we have just had our second year of a new show called 'I'm a Celebrity, get me out of here' - a cross between survivor and big brother, but with minor celebs.
Tedious !
but every morning, the radio shows can't talk about anything else.
Why can't we have some well made dramas and documentaries instead ?

Yeah, we have those crappy shows, too. And, um, don't take this the wrong way or anything, but where do you think they start? Over there! Thanks a lot!!

I know, and I do apologise.
Pop Idol, Pop Stars, Big Brother, I'm a celebrity....., Fame academy, Survivor .... all our fault !
That doesn't mean to say we shouldn't rise up against them though !

But...I really like Survivor!

OK, I'll spill too: I'm a Survivor and American Idol junkie.
I'm so ashamed!
NOT!!

Don't worry, Stacy, most people who don't like Survivor don't actually watch it!

Just wait till you see 'I'm a Celebrity - get me out of here!'
They take 8 minor celebs to a remote part of the australian jungle, and force them to do completely horrid tasks like eating live bugs, swiming through crocodile (small crocs) infested water etc to get enough points for food.
Eventally the audience get to vote to keep celebs in the camp - this can go several ways, as many people vote to keep the most dislikable celeb in the camp as punishment !
At the end of this series, we witnessed a well known sportsman vomiting on live TV after eating live grubs.
I must also apologise for 'who wants to be a millionaire' and 'weakest link' (any chance you could keep Anne Robinson next time she is over there - we really don't want her back).

They did the celebrity one here last season. I don't think it did very well...
Millionaire was a good game show, but they just kept playing it every single night! I mean, come on! There is such a thing as too much of a good thing...
