An interview done on CTV with Famous Guitars......... and I understand his current standing here on this forum is not that good.........thought if it had not been posted yet some may want to see the sight where he first saw two Sasq's aroung Merrit BC.

After seeing this I only have one thing to say. If you see one or just think you see one please do not make up songs about sasquatch and play them on tv.

Isn't he the guy who got all excited about hearing something over the police scanner about a BF allegedly being hit by a car or something?

BTW... it's refreshing to see our Canadian compadres enjoy the same high standards of television journalism as we do south of the border! wink.gif biggrin.gif

Okay, I'm not even sure we're all reading the same forum. The duality of some of your personalities couldn't be more obvious. After having watched the 'news story' video and then gone back to read all of 'Famousguitars' 47 posts, I've yet to figure out what exactly EVERYONE'S problem is with him. And I mean I haven't a CLUE!

Luckily or not, I had the benefit of ignorance as I was mostly unaware of the 'member' and/or his 'story'. Okay, so he's an excited, enthusiastic believer after his 'encounter'. He wants to 'prove to the world' it exists. Can't wait to get up in the morning to go looking for 'Bigfoot'. Wants to gather people for expeditions. Wants to trade stories and do more 'investigation'. Oh and please speak up anytime I hit the part where he commits a 'Bigfoot Crime'. Oh wait, he's OVERLY enthusiastic. Ahhhhhhhhhh...a punishable offense...I forgot.

In the last 36 hours, a certain thread has received 93+ posts on the subject of "Why do you believe? There's no proof." Initially posted antagonistically no less. Where essentially all of the subsequent posts 'defend' Bigfoot proponents in direct and not so direct ways (e.g. not agreeing with the author's premise by calling him a troll instead [would he still be a troll if you agreed with him?]). I certainly never saw where 'Famousguitars' was ANYTHING other than a proponent.

My point. Isn't a discussion board where the MAIN subject matter is so specific as to require deliberate and knowing actions to find, the place where a person that "knows they exist cause they seen it" comes to find commonalities, acceptance, express one's excitement and experiences and discuss what's next? Sheesh! If all I knew about FG was what was posted in this particular thread, you'd think he was, for one, a real asshole and secondly some sort of true 'Bigfoot criminal' (and even possibly a 'troll'). Hunster being so convinced by what OTHERS said he wasn't even gonna watch the video, he was that 'trusting' of what others said. (Point of information: Hunster in fact has POSTED on previous threads started by FG. Irony!) Even on his last 'known' post, FG was STILL using the term 'friends' to describe the crowd here.

Sadly, the message here is what it is many places, that is if you're not a card carrying member of the 'status quo', you're basically not 'worth knowing'. I dare ANYONE to read through ALL FG's posts and tell me where he truly went 'awry'.

Some of you REALLY need to get a different hobby as this one isn't suiting you near as well you might think. The bullying and general mayhem (often trying to MASQUERADE as 'legitimate criticism') that is often expressed here by the 'supposed' in-the-know crowd is embarrassing, childish and just plain asinine by most standards of communication. I personally do not 'excuse' such behaviors although many here do. I think the ones that do (excuse it) need to finally stop it.

Many within the 'status quo' crowd here are the same ones that are always DEMANDING 'extraordinary evidence for extraordinary claims' yet require NOTHING but heresay and scuttlebutt to 'label' one who might not quite fit within their idea of the 'perfect Bigfooter'. Make up your minds people. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

...Good day!

I imagine that most of the negative impressions of famousguitars came from the following thread:
http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?showtopic=8429&hl=

If I remember correctly, he gave a false location of the sighting in question, and another forum member went to check it out and was caught in dangerous weather conditions.

Harry, you have something to say to me or anyone else? Go ahead and say it and quit being so cryptic, You name Hunster like he's a no thinking pawn. You know who you want to talk to, go ahead and do it. And do your frikken research before you open your mouth. You only saw what you wanted to in those threads, I doubt if you even followed up on any of it.

BD (and everyone here, actually): When someone makes an error or hasn't done his homework, or (more usually) overstates his case or gets swept away by his rhetoric (very common failings, especially amongst us Type A personalities) it's better (unless he REALLY deserves it) to cut him some slack when rapping his knuckles and give him a face-saving means of backing down. Otherwise disagreements escalate and/or get personal, and the thread is lost. This seems to happen a lot on the net--and it's a credit to this site that it happens so rarely. People should be given the benefit of the doubt--not because they always deserve it, but for the sake of keeping the heatedness-of-discussion at room temperature. (And also, to avoid being judged too harshly if we blunder ourselves someday.)

EDIT: Another reason for taking a less confrontational stance than one's opponent deserves is that just occasionally it'll turn out that he doesn't deserve it, and that when one is "correcting" him him is actually in error oneself. That is really embarrassing! It's happened to me a few times, and it's taught me to be somewhat cautious and understated, even when I'm sure I've got my target dead to rights.
jimf
By that same token roger,,would not that "target",,having used the same action and words repeatedly,, and then trying to futher back up those words and actions with more of the same, not then be considered fair game ?

Harry...here is the true story of FG.
He claimed to have spotted two Squatch while driving down the highway to pick up his wife.
(This will be the thumbnail version! )
Thomas Steenburg went to investigate..found not one shred of proof at the sighting area..but..he did find FG's wife's opinion of her husband's truthfulness compelling!
Action..lights..camera..music!
Through correspondence with others FG was entertaining illusions of a destiny..claiming that the BFRO was making him their British Columbia representative...but wait!
Enter paranoia..he was suddenly refusing to ever work with the BFRO in the future..as they just wanted to use him for the information which he could provide! This.. just a few days after he announced his future inauguration at the BFRO.
It was mentioned by him that organizations be damned!
There was money to be made here..why share it!

At this point he lost credibility for me..and from then on I only half listened to anything he said.
From there, it was a succession of crying wolf..a refusal to share..unresponsivness! (His credibility growing lower and lower. 9-8-7-
I posted messages here giving him a way to gently back out of the position he was jamming himself into..he did not take advantage of the opportunities. He has only himself to blame.
There are other incidents which happened away from this forum, which I will not go into! At this point..credibility " 6-5-4- "
Is FG a bad man? I doubt it!
He just started believing his own PR.
He also made the mistake of thinking his future financial life was assured...all he had to do was grab a Big Guy. And to keep everyone else out of any opportunities.
Do I find him credible on the subject of Sasquatch? No.
For reasons stated here...as well as others which are not.
He might have had something to contribute but his vision became skewered and with it his usefulness for this research.
