It's finally starting to let up with the Noah's Ark treatment in Portland. I have been up here about 8 months now and would like to go peak at Mount St Helens before it decides to blow up. I thought it might be fun to poke around there and see if I can find some of the locations of the stories from the area that have been told there. I read where some members of the NERSA are planning to go out in whitehall NY area and I just read the Boggy Creek Visit. Anyone else planning on looking for sassy in the next few months?

I'm heading out this Sunday for 9 days of wilderness hiking. My intention is not looking for BF but to find shed antlers. I always do have one eye open for the big monkey though. I'll be in Saskatchewan Monday and Tuesday. Manitoba Wed & Thu., Ontario on Friday. Then into northern Minnesota for Sat and Sunday. Drive home Monday the 18th. These wilderness shed hunts are whats given me almost all of my BF evidence, at least I think its BF evidence. One really big hairball, some poop, pictures of a couple "maybe" nests, and several pictures of suspicious tree breaks. Not to mention a couple thousand shed antlers over the last 20 years or so. I always carry a camera and several zip-lock baggies just incase something funny looking gets found. Always fun and exciting to see the wilderness. So if you want to "hoax" me, just have at it. However, you better have your "good" boots laced up tight, because I'll be WAY back in there! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I would recommend going to some of the sasquatch web sites, like BFRO and OregonBigfoot.com, and check out the Reports sections. Find areas that are accessible to you, that have a good constant record of reports, and try there.

Yes, St. Helens and it's surrounding areas are good sites, however, most of the area is closed, cause the volcano has been in a constant eruption state since October 2004. I'd look elsewhere.

Near Portland... The Columbia Gorge at night, & the Mt. Hood wilderness come to my mind as good areas to check out because of the constant history of reports..

Hello Heep-um-Poop,

Have you had any luck in Ontario? I am presuming that you will be in the Northwestern part, around Kenora? I live in the area an am interesting in going out in the field in the spring, and wanted to know if you have found anyhting of interest in the area.

Yea, I spend alot of time around the Kenora area. No BF evidence as for me personally. I do believe the critter is there though as the environment could hide anything that wanted to stay hidden. You know as well as I that most of the area is not good for tracks, its all rock. The edges of the bogs are good track areas but I have yet to find anything my self. A friend and I have a cabin at Clearwater Bay. I have walked from the Manitoba border to the cabin and back several times (not in one day), both sides of the highway. Mostly staying on top of the ridges as this is where most of the sheds will be found. Also have done extensive walking thru out the Clyte (?) Bay road area. Crow Duck and Dark Water lakes are real good areas to look. Just a hell of a hike in there. We also spend alot of time out on the big lake walking the various islands. Its beautiful country, and its very wild country. A person had better be in very good physical condition also. As you know, hiking in this area is not for sissys and wimps as it will break you down pretty fast. Pack a good lunch, make sure you have good batteries in the GPS, and always have radio contact with a partner, never go alone. I'd hate to break a leg back in there somewhere as I don't know if a person could get out on there own. My friend and I have taken probably over 1000 sheds from this area in the last 7 years! Spring never comes fast enough for a shed hunter. I think the area between Kenora and Vermillion Bay looks real good. We may start looking more in this area. Especially to the North of the Highway, virtual wilderness and roadless.., great for Whitetail. Moose, Bear.., and Bigfoot!

Oh it has not been raining that much here! Geez, we had nearly a month of summer-like weather and then some much needed rain. This rain will prevent the worst of a drought later. Although our snowpack is still way under (30% last time I heard) what it should be, so I doubt we will avoid all water restrictions in the cities this Summer.

Besides, no one around here lets the rain get in the way of a good hike! Just get your butt out there and stop snivelin! Pack a good weather proof jacket, sturdy boots and suck it up like a Northwesterner. Rainy days make the best hikes, slightly fewer people out and more wildlife viewing chances.

If you don't like it...there are other places to live.

Thanks for the reply. I have recently moved to the Kenora area from Vancouver BC, but from some of the stories (I have only heard second or third hand accounts from a friend who has lived here all his life) that I have heard, there would seem to be a large amount of activity that is not being reported or really talked about . . . ridicule being the general reason. I have heard that the Sioux Lookout area has had a large amount of unreported sightings, and my friend and I, along with a few other people, plan to go out that way in the coming months to look for signs etc. We are not "professional" trackers or anything of that sort, this would be our first time, but we are interested. Have you ever been up that way?
