.50 Beowulf.

From what I hear, probably the ideal cartridge for sasquatches standing perfectly still 250 ft away... so you don't have to deal with overpenetration at short range or it's rainbow curve ballistics at anything much further.

12 ga. pump w/Brenneke 3" Black Magic slugs. Or 3" Brenneke Gold Magnum slugs. Or, maybe even Dixie Slug's Terminator slug. Hard to argue with a 400+ grain, .73 caliber slug coming at you doing 1300-1500 FPS.

I'd only use'em for self defense myself. Don't think I could take a hunting shot at a BF.

WOW, I just saw that Beowulf video Quite impressive weapon. Now, is it a fully auto mode weapon or does it sell in a semi auto mode? Man, a .50 cal round went right through the engine block and into the vehicle. Awesome weapon if you ask me.

It does not seem to have too much recoil from what I saw. Nice weapon.

Why not make it a true challenge and just use a bow? I got a Parker bow and arrow set that shoots 330 FPS and is quiet as a whore in church. This entire thread has me perplexed. And I am a hunter. Just weird to me why someone would kill something that stands for one of the only primal, true things left in nature?

I think the praying mantis is the only primal true thing left in nature.

That's fine, you don't have to believe me... there's more to the story but I wanted to keep it kinda short.

The Desert Eagle isn't real gold plated, but some kind of brushed gold finish... it's kinda my "beater gun" that goes everywhere with me & at the time I was laid off work and was up in that region visiting a friend when I decided to spend some time in the field... I didn't bring an arsenal with me, sorry. It's all I had in my truck & figured it would work fine for defense against most things in the wilderness. My survival ruck that I keep in my vehicle at all times has a wide variety of equipment in it for when SHTF... including Ghillie suit, dehydrated food, GPS, etc.

The incident where I observed the creature taking a dump was at extreme range and I was only able to observe through my Leica 60x Spotting Scope. If I would've been closer, and the opportunity presented itself... I probably would've tried to take Dingleberry then. Once again, I'm sorry... guess you had to be there.

Gotta run but will try to get back with you guys later.

I think the ironic part of this story is the part about the "crap". I think that would be a good title!!!!! thumbup.gif

Wow, what a story. coverlaugh.gif

1895 GBL ! ! ! Marlin is coming out with another guide gun in 45-70 and 30-30. It'll have a 18.5 barrel, blued, buckhorn sights, brown laminate stock and big loop lever. That'd be a nice brush gun in either caliber! Kind of like the SBL, but blued and without the XS sights/rail.

I might try stunning him with this one day. 135 lumens of bright white light -- this thing lights up my entire backyard at night.

Oh, and 12 rounds of 160 grain .40 hollowpoints might help.

A friend told me of a 360 lumen flashlight he's going to buy. I have to wonder if that's approaching the ability to burn a hole right through a sasquatch! I've got a 65 or 85 (or so, I can't remember exactly) lumen Surefire I thought was bright. I guess it's not bright enough! And, to have it attached to a lead throwing machine like that Robert, well, that ought to take care of business pretty well.

I made the mistake of shining it into a mirror.

That was about an hour and a half ago and I'm still seeing spots.

I hate it when that happens. headbang.gif

For you flashlight fiends, Lowe's has a new(?) TASK FORCE flashlight that is totally amazing me. It's a 150 Lumen 3 watt LED model that runs on 2 "C" cell batteries, and, it's output is simply incredible. Don't know if I've mentioned this before, but it continues to impress me so I'm tying to tell everyone about this light. It has the farthest throw of ANY LED light I've come across to date.
I have a 5 watt LED light that runs on 5 "C" cells and it doesn't have near the downrange throw of this TASK FORCE light. scratchhead.gif
Go figure...

Anyway, if your interested, here's the pertinent info:

Model number is FT-NS-2C 3W
Item #225285
UPC #6937481300067

And, to keep on topic, I took my NEF Pardner Pump 12 ga. out for a workout Thursday. Ran four boxes of 3" Federal 12 pellet 00 buck (load #PFC157 00), a 15 round "value pack" of Remington 3", 15 pellet, 00 buck and a 3 boxes of Brenneke KO slugs in it, and, it is flawless and pretty comfortable to shoot. Even with these butt kicking loads. I recently added a Limbsaver recoil pad and was able to shoot till I ran out of shells. happy.gif
The stock pad is pretty cushiony as is, but, the Limbsaver really makes a difference. Model # for the NEF size Limbsaver is 10101.
The gun was fairly accurate with the slugs out to 50 yards yielding an average 3.5-5" 3 shot groupings with open sights. I'm certain that someone who shoots better than me could have shrunk those groups down. My eyes don't work as good as they used to. icon_redface.gif
The Federal buckshot comes with that new fangled "Flite Control Wad" feature which tightens up groupings really well compared to standard load buckshot. The difference between the Remington load and the Federal was impressive. The Federal groups were easily half the spread that the Remington yielded. I'm sold now and will keep this load in my HD shotgun and stock up as funds permit.
If you haven't tried this stuff in your shotgun, please give it a spin. It REALLY shrinks those buckshot patterns.

And to finish on the thread's topic,
I still think a 12 ga. shotgun loaded with Brennekes is an excellent choice for managing a rampaging BF. tongue.gif

Loading about three of those mixed with four or five 00 buckshots in a pump and shooting from the hip as fast as you can is about the same as using a .30 cal machine gun. I'd opt for it.
