Looking at the Skookum cast heel print.....This IS obviously the print of a real heel with the achilles tendon showing!!! My question is....how large is the heel that made this print? Is it larger than a human heel? If so, this is obviously a great discovery! I didn't realize how detailed this print was. It is quite amazing if is it much larger than a human print. Does anyone know the size if it?

I can't give you exact details (perhaps DDA can), but I wear size 15.5 US shoes, and can tell you that the heel print in the skookum cast is definately bigger than my feet could produce

Has the cast been shown else where? Other than in the PNW or on TV specials? I would loved to see this thing in person! Belle |

Rick Noll (DDA) very kindly brought the cast to the syposium in willow creek in September - the heel for me is by far the most interesting part of the cast, since for those of us who are not experts in anatomy it is the easiest part of the cast to recognise (apart from Dr. Leroy Fish's boot print
you would have to ask DDA when it is next going to be on display - it is a big cast, that fills the back of his truck, so I can now understand why he would be a little reluctant to cart it around the place. I'm just glad I got to see it (and Rick's excellent presentation) |

Ive held this heel cast in my hand and I gotta tell ya its huge. The detail is amazing. It looks like it belongs to a very large man. There is no mistaking this for any other animals' knees or elbows.

I don't recall where I saw this at the moment, but there is a photo of them comparing the Skookum heel cast to a man's heel cast side by side. It's huge!!!! It dwarfs the man's cast.
It was a great comparison. I'm sure someone on here knows where that picture is and which one I'm talking about. |
