It is thought to be either Homo heiderbergensis or a very early Homo sapiens as hair shape, scales and other characteristics appear much like modern human hair. Who says microscopic hair analysis isn't interesting! They tried to get DNA and protein from the sample but were unsuccessful though hope is held out for future success.
