Is there any truth to the 'Bigfoot Order" that was signed by Pres.Johnson in 1967 during the Vietnam war?

Could you give us a little more information about what the bill was suppose to cover? The term "The Bigfoot Bill" isn't ringing any bells with me.

I have heard of it, but only in bigfoot circles, not through any other source. I think it's an urban legend that has been touted by the government conspiracy crowd for quite awhile.
He did sign the Federal Wilderness Act in September of 1964. No mention of bigfoot in the speech as far as I know. I realize it's more than likely an urban legend, but I'd never heard of it until now. |

I tried to go back and edit my post to include the following info, but my system froze.
Regarding the alleged signing of the "Bigfoot Order". Supposedly, President Johnson signed a directive referred to as "The Bigfoot Order" in 1967. This order instructed the AG secretary and the heads of the Forest Service to keep bigfoot's existence a secret. Here is a link I found in a quick Google search. http://groups.google.com.vc/group/rec.arts...th%2F2004-08%3F Go to the first post by Peter Meilinger in the "Implausible conspiracies and secrets in SF" thread. He is reviewing "Dark Woods" by Jay Kumar. Perhaps this book is where the Urban legend started??? It was published in 2004, but I thought I heard the legend before that. Here are some links to discussions of the book here on the BFF http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?showtopic=6725 http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?showtopic=8807 http://www.bigfootforums.com/index.php?showtopic=8777 Obviously, I haven't read the book yet! Thanks. . .hmmm, I did a search on this site for 'Bigfoot' and got a few hits. Basically just saying some people think the creature could be hiding in the woods of PNW. Interesting to note, Klamath area is mentioned. |

It does make a a small amount of sense for the government to keep the lid on Bigfoot. The lumber and mining industries would suffer but Bigfoot or no Bigfoot they'er still going log.
