Hi everyone!

We as nice to meet everyone at the conference. We have been back in the swamp for two whole days now with our live remote monitoring systems and also took a 12 mile trek through the swamp with trolling motor and paddles today. We found some interesting things that we will use to make future trips with. But most of all we just wanted to let everyone know that the three of us are still out here for a few more days and are all doing well.

We are now sitting here at our campsite going over the days activities and preparing another day. It is great to be camped out on this bank here deep in the swamp. We have a family of Neutra that have accepted our presence and there is a 12 foot gator that shares this island with us. All is well.

Thanks to everyone from all of us. You can see our pictures that we upload from out here in the swamp at http://www.joekent.net/ and click on album on the main menu at the top of the page. Then when you get to the albums, there are two albums, Caddo Lake and Uncertain Texas. Both of those have information there.

We will be posting pictures of everyone at the conference as soon as we get back to Memphis and get high speed connections again.

Y'all watchout, WG. There's a little light runnin' cold front headed your way Thursday night. Night time temps will be in the 40's by the weekend. The critters and the fish always get active before a front. Happy Hunting and Good Luck!

Don't worry about the nutria or the 'gator. It's those naugas you have to watch out for...vicious little animals. Makes me shiver just thinking about them. laugh.gif

Nutria

And what you see below is a Nauga. They are very dangerous and very difficult to kill from what I hear.

(shield the young one's eyes.. this is skeery)

Howdy WG. Glad to see that you folks are still fat and happy. Did ya get Smokey's generator ok..? Tell Joe and Ms Joe that I said howdy. I'm sure that ya know that a big ole hurricane is brewin' and might hit the coast of Florida by this weekend. You guys be sure to keep abreast of this situtation. I aint' worried about winds for ya, but gobs of rain could put ya's in a tight spot. Take care.

Back in the 1970's Naugas were almost hunted to extinction for their hides. Nauga hides were used to make furniture. Especially couches and armchairs.

Damn shame they didn't wipe the nasty little things out.

Same thing with the poor little Carynthians. They were hunted worldwide, their prized leather for seats in the Chrysler C O R D O B A....

Ricardo Mantoban was a big '70's proponant of Carynthian Leather hunting...

PS,
FWIW,
I've heard that snipe tastes like chicken. wink.gif

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I just went and checked out www.weather.com for updates. We are fixing to tear down the gear this morning and start the trips to bring it out. We will 'camp out' tonight with just the bear essentials and then bring out the tents in the morning and then head back to Memphis.

I have posted more photos this morning; they include some photos of our tech gear.

Don’t forget about our open invitation to take ya’ll into the high sierras to do some squatchin’! That would be so cool if ya’ll could make the trip out west sometime…

Ya’ll be careful driving home!

No, no gator foot on this trip or any other I hope. Perhaps next time you are in the Caddo area we can all go on an outing into the swamps - that would be awsome. And I have not forgot the invitation, again, thanks.

In the technical tent - notice the large inverter that powers everything for the night time operations.

Well, we're back !
Safe & Sound !!!
12 days camped on high ground in the middle of Caddo Lake/Big Cypress Bayou in the area called Mossy Break.
Me, my Wife & Herman....
& a thousand pounds of gear......
in a 14 foot, trolling motor\paddle powered,
Jon-boat !!!!

We were unsuccessful in finding any REAL evidence of any Bigfoot/Marked Hominid Activity in the areas that we investigated. There were a few "Not Sure" things, but will talk of it only in passing, so as not to give them any undue significance....
lone Bent trees near a "nest-type?" structure...
vague "Bigfoot-size" print....
& a short recording of a strange night "call".

The experience was AMAZING & I can't wait to go back....
even DEEPER...
into that MAGNIFICENT, MYSTERIOUS, "Lost World-like", SWAMPLAND !!!

The SWRO (Southern Wildlife Research Org.) is ready for ACTION !!! thumbup.gif

Not too sure about the origin of the sound, WG, but the clarity is excellent. That is really beautiful country, around Caddo. As stated by saskwatcher, it has a 'lost-world' atmosphere.
Thanks,
