OK, now this is the good stuff:
http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=4743 Yikes! I hesitate to even mention this one as I don't want to spook poor Msfit (and I'm almost out of OK, so why the charge? Territorial? Mating season? (And I mean for the bigfoot, not the teens!) I'm also interested in the comment "it hit the road on all fours and then stood fully erect." Was it running on four legs instead of two? Woods Video, anyone? Also, interesting comment about the vocalization sounding like a yowie. All kinds of good stuff in this one... |

Wow, that is an awesome report. Lots of subject to cover in this one.
I think the charge could very well be territorial. Though I have heard of these types of charges before, almost always the bigfoot backs off at the last second. But who would want to test that out? I think it could also be that bigfoot might have just happened upon his big dinner catch for the night and these kids interrupted. Mating season like you said? I have no idea when mating season is for sure, though I would assume it was during the winter months, don't ask me why, it is just my own theory! LOL It could be various things like that. Maybe smaller family members were playing nearby and Mr. bigfoot didn't appreciate the human intrusion. It could be any of the above or none of the above and something different entirely. I have heard the quadruped thing before. There are several researchers who will swear to the fact that bigfoot do go quadrupedal and that they have seen them do it. The P.E.I. video does show that. If it is indeed real, which for now I can find no reason to think otherwise. I think perhaps the quadruped position would allow for the bigfoot to be less likely to be seen in open areas, and in a less prone position to be shot at. That makes sense to me. Especially considering the fact that most of the reports of them going quadruped that I have heard were when the creatures were crossing an open area that left it susceptible to being seen or shot at. Of course that apparently not being the case here as it was already quadruped and then stood erect when in the opening. Perhaps it intended to originally cross the road quadruped and then noticed the boys there? Some wild animals will assume an upright and rigid posture when confronted with an intruder sort of like a reflexive reaction. This gives the impression of being big and bad. It is meant to intimidate. Why should bigfoot be any different? It is a possibility that either of these or both could factor in. And about the yowie sound... The part about the sound matching the Yowie file is interesting. I have heard something that sounded close, very close to the Yowie file that gave me the creeps. It spent approximately 15 mins. howling off and on. Then a barred owl started calling out. The barred owl called out probably 4 times. This is where it gets really weird. The lone "thing" that had been howling off and on just minutes before, tried to imitate the owl. It used the exact length and rhythm as the owl, but with much louder volume, a lower tone and extemely off-key. It scared the cr@ppola outta me! Whatever it was, it shut that owl up quick and I never heard another peep from either the owl or the other thing the rest of the night. Of course I fell asleep shortly after the silence anyway. It was approximately 2 am. I asked around and someone told me it must have been a coyote. Do you guys know if coyotes imitate other animals, like owls perhaps? |

I've never heard of 'yotes imitating anything except for a dogs bark or whine, not alot of experience with them to reference. i have heard of BF imitating several kinds of noises from owls to a baby crying . as for the yowie howl , alot of how I judge if a sound is real is the creepy feeling it gives me . not very scientific but sometimes you gotta go with your gut. for axample the Sierra sounds BF vocals mean nothing to me ,while the yowie howl and the ones by M.Moneymaker make my hackles rise.who knows? maybe its like the being watched feeling where you have to make your own judgement as to what you saw , felt, or heard.

Wow lots of stuff here.
I thought Arkansan covered this from top to bottom. I keep hearing references of "paralleling" or "ushering the trespasser out" and to me that's what it seems to have been doing. I too have heard about quadrupedal travel for BF. Often in association with road crossing. I wonder if this thing didn't know they were there initially and then came their way? I really think that no matter where you see them it will be a shock if you are not ready or never have seen one... at least that's what I think. Once you are leaving a good yell ought to put the exclamation mark on the "Don't come back now, hear?" I keep reading they can make LOTS of different vocals, bird sounds, roars, grnts, howls, moans, yells, screams, etc. If that is true, I bet we don't know that much about their sounds because of the entire range of calls that can come out of just one critter... take a porcupine.. they can even scream. Raccoons do weird noises. Fox scream. I have heard weird noises attributed to coyotes but man, I can't vouch for that. I never saw the animal make the noise. When you throw in mating calls, territorial calls, defensive vocals, predation screams or calls, baby calls, (note those predator tapes.. they have baby gray fox or rabbit screams or whatever.. its endless. It's a mystery for a whole bunch of good reasons and this is another of them I dont remember if starlings (probably) It was amazing to me. That was a cool report |
